Fantastic stay and holiday
We had a fantastic holiday and would return. The only that we didn’t like was the facility we could use due to not been member TRS club and PCI club.

Grand Palladium Colonial
Good service from Gaspar at the Portofino restaurant. Rooms need some renovations. Pool and the beach are very nice and clean. Lounge chairs are challenge to requires reservations early in the morning. I really hope that one Grand Palladium prevents lounge chair reservations and use first come first serve process.

I would not recommend
Food was not good. Impossible to get reservations to a restaurant. You have to pay for room service. No turn down in the evening. Staff were great. Getting around was easy

Amazing hotel, excellent food and service with some minor niggles
We stayed here as a family in two rooms for 10 nights in April. I've seen several bad reviews but overall we loved the resort and would definitely recommend. I've highlighted the positives and suggested any improvements below: Rooms - Spacious and well maintained. We stayed in block 57 which had separate bathrooms rather than open planned which I would recommend. The hotel changed our rooms on arrival to ensure my teenage kids had 2 doubles and we had a king size at no extra cost which was great. The rooms have fridges which supplied free water in cans and beer/soda. It would have been nice if small bottles of wine and snacks were added. The cleaning was OK, but sometimes they didn't replace towels or used tea/coffee etc.. Pools - The White sands pool was lovely and not too busy. My kids did the assault course in the pool, but generally the kids were at the Colonial pool so ours was nice and chilled. The bar by the pool was easier to get served than the swim up bar, and better quality. Buffets - We ate at the Le Dalia buffet breakfast and lunch most days. The food was all nice and well cooked, but often really busy and food ran out, (It's probably worth going slightly later/earlier to avoid this). The service was great and the wine was lovely at lunch and frequently topped up. The kids liked the pancakes and waffles, but again ran out frequently. Restaurants - As mentioned by others you can't book 2 rooms together on the app and can get booked up, so all we did was book for 2 people but put a note in the comments to sit with the other room. We booked first thing in the morning and this worked perfectly as we were able to book into all the restaurants easily. We went to the Thai, Mexican, both steak houses and the Italian. All food and service was great. For the steak houses there was no Sirloin option which, as Brits, we would have preferred and no Filet option in El dorado. Overall menu choices are limited, so just check the menu before you book if you have fussy kids. Beach - Yes there is a lot of seaweed in some parts, which they try and clear every day, but in the main swimming area this is minimal and once you're in the sea it is lovely and clear. My kids and I really enjoyed the beach and did the Kayaking which was free. We found on less windy days there was less seaweed and it got better during our stay. The kids also loved the free Whippy ice cream at the beach bar. Grounds - Simply stunning and saw so much amazing wildlife, especially the Iguanas which we counted and named :). We also saw racoons, coatis and sereque as well as lots of exotic birds. It felt very safe and was roughly 5-10 mins walk to the other hotels/restaurants etc.. which we didn't mind this as got us some exercise after all the food:) Bars - The White sands lobby bar was by far the best and looked the nicest. The drinks were good quality so not sure why others have complained. One recommendation would be to have a bar menu as we had no idea what could be ordered, particularly in terms of cocktails. When entertainment was on at the Colonial it was difficult to get served at the bar and not enough waitresses. Sports - My son loves football and this is the best hotel we've stayed at. There are 2 pitches and every night at six there is a match for whoever turns up. We didn't try anything else. Note this is the one place mosquitos were around, probably because it was dusk and on the edge of the resort. Entertainment - Great entertainment and professional shows. My wife and daughter loved the silent Disco and the Bingo was fun. The singers and and dancers were of a high standard for a hotel. Overall we had a great stay, the staff, facilities and general feel of the hotel were all 5 star. If they could improve their restaurant booking system, cleaning service and buffet food availability then I would have given it 5 stars.
