Pros and Cons
I would give 3 1/2 stars. Pros, the staff was absolutely wonderful. They were always extremely helpful and pleasant. All of the food I ordered off of the restaurant menu was delicious. My husband and I had the buffet one night, and let's just say we are not fans of a buffet. That's a personal preference. If you want good clean food, go to the restaurant and order off of the menu. It's probably the same price. Lunch at the beach bar off the menu was also delicious -- salads, burgers, grilled fish sandwich, tacos. FYI, ask for grilled if you don't want deep fried. Keep that in mind. Bartenders were amazing. The hotel is also very quiet, which is a plus. Adults and families. No spring break here. Cons. Room was a bit outdated. Only one bathroom for a one bedroom condo. Room keys had to be corrected every day. Ocean view was great, but I would recommend the ground floor. We were on the third floor, and it was a bit of a pain whenever you needed water or use the bathroom. We were in Building 3. Apparently, there was a storm somewhere out there, and even though the beach was cleaned every single morning, meticulously, and after ten minutes, because of the current, garbage and tons of sea grass was being washed up on the shore only in front of Buildings 3 & 4 for the first six days we were there. The last two days, no garbage. That was a bit of a bummer. The beach in front of Buildings 1 and 2 were fine. Just some sea grass. Not the hotel's fault, just the side of the island. Also, the ocean was very rocky in front of Buildings 3 and 4. 1 & 2, not so much, but I do recommend water shoes. They do have activities, but when we were there, there was no kayaking or paddle boarding because of the waves. No umbrellas in front of Buildings 3 & 4. Only shade was from the palm trees and the building. Last, not a walking/running beach, which was a bummer for me. Very slanted. We went to Seven Mile Beach one day, and the sand was white, and the water was turquoise. Not on the east end. I hope this helps.

Spent first part of vacation on this part of the island. RELAXING!
First time to this part of the island, after maybe six earlier trips to Island pre-covid. This was a very relaxing 4 days. Loved that the hotel is spread out, not too tall, and beach views abundant. First floor room not always my choice, but here I did it, and was very pleased. Just steps and you were on the beach relaxing in lounges. Daily program posted, tried the water aerobics which would have been enhanced with enough mats and music. Staff here are very attentive, especially at the activities desk. We were here for the Super Bowl, and they did a fantastic job with a special buffet and several large screen televisions. Hotel offered two options for free shuttles by local restaurants, took advantage of that. Although recommendations by many to rent a car, was not quite ready for the opposite side of the road driving. Another time I would probably rent a day for a day or two especially to head to Rum Point. We used Leon’s Taxi, and were pleased with that option this time around. Rooms very comfortable, sizable kitchen, small quite tight bathrooms with nice towels. Very happy overall with this property. Did not do meal plan, but ate breakfast in the Tides Restaurnt the last day, delicious. Heard many good comments about the food. Beach Bar service was excellent. Note: this is a windy location. I was ok with that as it made sitting out comfortable. Relaxing hotel! It’s a bit of a drive from the airport 45 minutes. Car rental available once you arrive, for those not interested in driving in much traffic and staying in the North/East/Rum Point area.

Stay at Grand Cayman
We had an overall enjoyable stay, but there are a few areas that could use improvement. Given the nightly rate, we expected daily room service without needing to request essentials like coffee refills or clean towels. Especially at a waterfront location, having fresh towels daily should be a standard. Additionally, the tub had brown water, which was quite unpleasant. We specifically chose a room with a jacuzzi, but unfortunately, we couldn't use it due to the dirty water.

TRAVELERS BEWARE
TRAVELERS BEWARE……..There is nothing about this facility that comes remotely close to being a resort. Although this is indeed beachfront, its buildings are spread out over nearly quarter mile and all are in serious need of updating and fresh paint. The actual entrance had meager landscaping that was poorly maintained along with the rest of the entire complex. The beachfront/al fresco dining area had no foliage to speak of. The tables and chairs at this outside dining area were essentially plastic Kmart specials with absolutely no illumination on the table for evening dining. The other amenities were just as badly maintained. None of the tiki lights seemly worked for ambience and the walkways to the restaurant had numerous LED lights out making it unsafe even for evening strolls. (Our accommodations were a 5-minute walk to the dining areas). The pool had debris floating on the water and the only tennis courts needed significant repairs. Finally the actual room appointments were eerily similar to the one’s commonly found at any dated Day’s Inn. Regarding staffing personnel, our flights were delayed so we arrived into the evening hours. The front desk staff were genuinely indifferent and became even more so when we began discussing room accommodations. We had booked a beach front room on the first floor that was not being made initially available to us. Lastly the hotel manager literally lied to us regarding the financial penalty we would incur if we were to leave early since our reservations were for an entire week. She said she was just in touch with Expedia (since we booked through a 3rd party) and we would only be charged for a 2-night penalty. This was totally false. This misinformation resulted in a $3600 loss since we checked out the very next morning. When then called Expedia to help intervene, we were told that any refund would have to come from the hotel itself. Relating this to the hotel manager, she stated that no refund could be issued to us since the resort was totally full; which made no sense whatsoever.

Do not bother going here.
Unimpressed. Considering it is on the windy side of the island, somewhat isolated compared to the other side of the island, they should be making much more of an effort and way more competitively priced!! They pretend to operate as a hotel but the reality is they are using a time-share model and are more interested in getting you on that tour. Case in point, we were charged $100’s of dollars for a “resort” fee…$100’s. There were no special amenities that we would have had at a resort on the west side of the island. Playing with beads did not merit a $700+ resort fee. Unlike staying on the west side, you have to factor in the cost of renting a car. There were several places to stay on the west side where the beach is stunning, there are many, many restaurant options (not to mention that some places include breakfast….not even morning coffee offered here) for less money. So- do not waste your money on this place.
