DO NOT GO PREMIUM, Hotel will rip you off

The hotel looks nice on arrival but DO NOT UPGRADE TO PREMIUM. It is a rip off as they ripped us off. They catch you when you are tired and come in from a long flight. When you complain they do not follow it up. The hotel decides what it will charge you but it is not worth it. Like all holidays there are pros and cons. Pros - Charly is very good and works very hard. So does Andres. Pools are cleaned every day but need some TLC. Plenty of sunbeds so no need to save them. We were met by Juliana very meal time and shown to a table. Kelvin was the waiter who speaks good English and is very helpful. We stayed in Room 4214 which was very spacious and clean with fresh towels every day. Drinks are great and you can order most things. Some food is better than others but the BBQ on the beach is very good and so is the Italian. Entertainment ok, but could be better. If you get a chance go to the Chic Cabaret Show - Fantastic and worth every penny. Cons - Constant loud music played by the younger entertainment members (Nicole & Elian) who want to twerk and party all day and put on their own show when Charley is not there. No service from pool waiters unless you keep nagging them (Premium members), wait a long time for food to be delivered, lots of staff don't speak English only Spanish so can be hard to communicate, not good for 2 weeks stay as very repetitive, aim at Americans, Mexicans who stay for 4-6 nights, always having to ask butler to sort things out example: stocking up fridge in room, clean towels by pool, running out of soft drinks and food by pool, make sure food in Helios is cooked as husband had to send 2 meals back as meat not cooked. When it rains the hotel because dangerous on stairs and landing, restaurants flood. We spent 12 nights there and after our 5 night wanted to return as hotel and services were appalling. We will not be returning to this hotel. The only good thing to come out of our holiday was that we met some fantastic couples from Kentucky, Kent & Michigan in the same boat as us and we became great friends.

    Perfect Resort Destination

TRS Cap Cana is a Luxurious Resort for adult couples. You are treated like royalty. The people working there treat you like family. The grounds, pools and service are all above expectations. All the alcohol is Premium. Breakfast Buffet was exactly what I expected, plenty of options. 4 ala Carte meals, all the food was cooked well and delicious. Many events are planned daily by the staff, the music is always upbeat and you can give them your favorite play list. The shops are upscale and close by off the resort. You can rent a golf cart for $60 American instead of walking and you can safely drive the cart at night to go clubbing or for dinner off the resort. We did and thoroughly enjoyed it. When we arrived we met Leo. He gave us a tour and made sure we were settled in. Soon after that, we had a butler assigned to us named Aronni. He was amazing. He took care of everything for us. A professional who definitely deserves a huge shout out here. If you're looking for a laid back Resort with some well needed relaxation, TRS CAP CANA will be perfect for you.

    Honeymoon

It's hard to know where to start. First of all, do not upgrade to Premium Experience. You will be offered the upgrade upon check in for 100$ per night. The total worth of the upgrade is probably 100$ total, so if you're staying a long time it will feel less worth it with each day. We did well to avoid that package, but did hear the grumbles from fellow guests. The food was generally decent, however service is extremely slow, and if you don't speak Spanish it's hard to chase it up. Drinks service is quick, and fairly consistent. My wife is Vegetarian, and there wasn't a lot of choice for her to pick from. I had assumed one of the restaurants would have been a buffet allowing her to build a salad, but this isn't the case. Having said that - there is variety in the meals, and it doesn't feel like you eat the same thing everyday. Room was nice if not a bit basic. We had a swim up room, and this is the way to go. The main pool closes at 6pm, so if you want to stay in a pool get a swim up room. Butler service is a good idea, but some butlers are better than others! Ignacio was good for us, and you could always see Leo working hard. The hotel staff for entertainments were good, Charly in particular made sure everything was running smoothly. Music is consistently too loud. Especially for an adults only resort. In our mid-30s we were some of the younger residents at the resort, and we were praying for some respite from the 'Laffy Taffy'. The shuttle bus to the beach is excellent, and the beach itself is exactly what you see in the pictures. Gorgeous, calm and relaxing. I enjoyed the holiday - I had hoped that some aspects would have been a bit more luxurious. We would return to Punta Cana for sure, but perhaps at a different hotel in future.

    Never again

I think I have provided enough information. We had been to different Paladium Hotels 15-20 years ago. Obviously, if this is the new 5Star rating of the chain, we will never book anything with this group again & I will be sure to communicate our experince to our friends and associates. This trip cost us over C$7,700 and was nowhere worth this kind of tariff.

    Mixed feelings

The staff at the resort was very friendly They just had a language barrier and could not understand what you wanted and they seem to get frustrated at the guest because they did not understand.
