AVERAGE CONFERENCE HOTEL
This property rests in a business park with one entire end dominated by office space and incapsulating a really unique, tropical, glasshouse that is used as an event venue and business common area. There are the standard ballrooms and meeting rooms. Positioned as it is, the hotel is a bit tired - from linens to fixtures to plain old "fit and finish" there is standard wear and tear that is reaching that point where the price for a night is becoming mismatched from the quality of the experience. If you are a business traveler, you are familiar with similar properties. The staff is a mixed bag for a Westin - had wonderful interactions with housekeeping and desk staff - not so much with dining staff who seemed to find guests a burden to be endured. Arriving at brunch with 30 minutes to spare the pressure was definitely on to get to the buffet, load up, and get out. While I understand that, I also know that if you are going to serve food up to a closing time, then there has to be a reasonable expectation that someone might still enjoy their coffee for a few minutes after closing. Overall impression - not quite at the level one expects for a Westin, but if I had to attend another event here, I would certainly stay.

Fantastic, wonderful, great!
I've read the reviews at the Westin Southfield for years and was always concerned about staying at this Westin, what a wonderful surprise! The staff to the accommodations were exceptional for my wife and I, especially the heavenly bed, we will be back. A special shout out Latrice Smith, in all our travels to Marriott properties before and after the pandemic, Latrice was far and away the best front desk individual we've encountered. We have stayed at over 600 Marriott properties over the last 10 years, she's simply the best. We recommend without any reservation this Westin when visiting the Detroit Metro plication area. I love this place!
The Westin Hotel is one of THEE BEST of hotels under Bonvoy!!! This hotel is special to me because it was where I would reside to provide adequate healthcare for my Dad who passed away before the 2025 Holiday Season, and it was where he found comfort spending time with me prior to his transition. Several of my friends, family members, and travel industry colleagues (government and airlines) have had the genuine pleasure of residing here at the Westin Southfield, and it is our consensus that our stay here is by far in large the place to return to for ALL four seasons! The energy at the Westin Hotel is festive, and Joy in the restaurant serves with grace and a smile. The fountain display in front of the hotel is soothing to the heart and soul after a long tiresome day of work or play. The pool is clean and fun! The front desk staff is par excellent, and the leadership of their General Manager, Lance Misner keeps the wheels greased as the speed and efficiency of this locomotive of a hotel chain continues to excel on the highest levels! The Customer Service at the Westin Hotel is exceptional! I’m a very particular person, and a world traveler that has been to all seven continents, and I (along with countless others) can attest to their excellent performance as a genuinely pleased guest! Expected more from a Westin
Decent hotel, couple of disappointments though. The resturant was very quiet at 6pm on a saturday which was awesome, we were one of only 4 tables in there but we waited for 30 minutes and only had water dropped off with staff consistently walking by us. Didn’t even actually talk to a waiter. The room seemed very old and definitely hadn’t been remolded recently. The nice thing was the big screen tv though. Wi-fi was also for $8 a day if you weren’t a Marriot Bonvoy member which I find crazy. Not sure if that’s a new Marriot rule but something that would deter me in the future. Additionally, the pool facility was small. Additionally, the hot tub was broken which was a disappointment for us as we weren’t told about it before hand and found out when we got down there. For the price we paid for the one night, definitely didn’t feel worth it. I expect more from a Westin property to be honest.

Great experience
I had great stay in Westin Detroit Southfield for one night. Reception was great and employees were super nice. Spacious rooms with good amenities. I also liked how well the rooms were sounds proof and guaranteed a good night sleep. Got small token of appreciation as leveled up in Marriott program which I truly appreciate it. Would definitely stay there again if I’m in the area!
