Definitely not putting on the Ritz

This was a most unsatisfying experience, We have visited before and the stay was fine. This visit has been very disappointing. Service was off, housekeeping awful ( rooms not cleaned until 6 PM although we had vacated the room at 10 Am, I personally had to clean the floor of the closet before I could put a bag down), towels were thinner than I have had at a much lower quality hotel. Definitely not up to Ritz Carlton standards. By the way, the wait for breakfast was more than 30 mins in the hotel restaurant. The entire experience felt as if we were at a much cheaper hotel. Maybe next time we are in Sarasota we will try something where management is more attentive to providing customers with service worthy of its reputation. This hotel tarnishes the Ritz name. Certainly not worth the premium Ritz price.

Priced like a ritz, operated like a mid range Marriott

It’s fine. If you were paying for a Marriott, you would say, ok, that was fine. But it is instead priced like a ritz. Routinely takes 10 minutes of sitting by the ringing phone to get someone to answer to order your car from the valet or to procure a bellman. Check in is a long slow line. The hotel is wildly understaffed and managed to a mediocre standard. Not bad, just not good. Highlight is the concierge floor lounge which is well staffed by wonderful people.

    Horrible!

The carpet is shredding and worn out. Our bedding had stains on it when we arrived and we were guaranteed access to the club level upon making our reservation and are now being denied access. We have a son with special needs and they are not accomodating. The pool towels are worn and very small. There is zero service at the pool. We are unimpressed. We could have gone to a Mariott and had better service and larger, newer accomodations.

    What a Shame

Growing up, I heard stories about how incredible staying at the Ritz would be. Unfortunately, when I finally experienced it for myself, it was nothing like what I had imagined. We were in town for a wedding and hoped to check in early to get ready. We knew the standard check-in time was 4 PM, but when we called ahead, we were told they would “try” to accommodate us. On the day of, we checked in around 1 PM and were reassured, “We’re finishing up your room, come on down and we’ll get you in.” However, when we arrived at 1:45 PM, we were abruptly told that our room was not ready. After explaining that we were attending a wedding that started at 4 PM, we were met with dismissiveness from the front desk staff. While other guests were offered water, champagne, or refreshments, we received nothing. The lack of hospitality and understanding was disappointing. In the end, we had to change in the main floor restrooms—a frustrating experience given the reputation of the Ritz. When you spend a significant amount of money on a luxury hotel—especially as a young adult on a tight budget—you expect an experience worth remembering for the right reasons. Sadly, my lasting memory of the Ritz will be this: Don’t waste your money or time staying here.

Avoid if you like high end

New General Manager needed. The staff is all over the place, check in experience was over 30 minutes long, telling me literally all the "rules" of the hotel. Room is outdated, with scuffs on walls, scuffs on furniture and resembles more of a holiday inn vibe with the furniture than a high end hotel. Many better options, you pay for the great service and I promise you it is not here.
