Bad wifi for a sustainable connection.
Really bad wifi connection. Don't try to do any business. I was visiting for a conference, and my husband was trying to work remotely. He could not sustain an internet connection. It's very frustrating for a hotel that boasts a good wifi connecting for business.

Dogs, dogs, and more dogs
This place is probably the worst hotel we have stayed at in a long time. Please note it is extremely dog friendly. Don’t get me wrong, I love dogs but generally, hotels that accept dogs have certain rooms dedicated to those that have dogs with them. Not this hotel, dogs are everywhere and the smell is outrageously obnoxious. It’s not exactly the dog smell but the chemical cleaners they use to mask the dog smells. I think I would rather smell dogs than the horrible chemical smell. I am not allergic to dogs one iota but I could not stop sneezing in this hotel. Perhaps it was their gross chemicals. Just step into the lobby and you will know what I mean. The lobby also has a lingering smoke smell that is being masked by their chemical cleaners. Now onto the rooms, very basic which I was expecting. I also wasn’t expecting A/C (like most mountain hotels) but that’s not usually a problem because you can just open a window a night and cool the room that way. Not this hotel. There is only one teeny window that will open but you would have to open their 30 year old drapes to even get a whiff of that fresh air and we couldn’t do that because our first floor room looked out into the parking lot. We stayed here two nights and came back from an extremely long day of hiking from CB to Aspen to find that we didn’t even get housekeeping. So what is the $25/night resort fee for? No clue! I mean I guess it was better than camping is the only positive thing I have to say about this hotel.

Outdated but functional lodge in a great location for the mountain resort.
The good - the lodge is in a fantastic location. It is right next to a pickup/drop off location for the free bus service pickup that runs to Crested Butte regularly, we took advantage every day. If you bring bicycles they have a free storage location by the lobby which is very convenient. The shower was excellent and the room itself was clean with a comfortable bed. The staff we interacted with were all very friendly and helpful. There is an excellent coffee place (Coffee Lab) very close by. The not-so-good - the whole place is in need of updating, I am not sure anything has been done (carpets, décor, furniture etc.) since it was built? The wi-fi in the room was extremely slow to the point of barely working at times. We would still absolutely consider staying here again, for what we needed it fits the bill and for the most important things for us (a couple in town to ride mountain bikes needing a comfortable bed and good shower, plus convenient transportation to the town for food and drink) it checks the boxes.

Expected More
My wife and I booked a three-night weekend stay at the Grand Lodge Crested Butte for a corner suite room. First glance at entering the room the bed looked nice and comfy, but the rest of the furnishings were outdated and worn. The next morning there is no free breakfast cafe. There is a small bistro type that has takeaway food and expensive plate breakfast. Don't expect your room to be cleaned or not based on putting out a privacy tag on the door. You have to tell the desk in the morning to have your room cleaned. This is not a regular hotel. Each room is individually owned. Basically, a rent-a-room. There is a resort fee that provides internet, in room coffee, tea, hot chocolate, pool access and parking. You at some time will have to park in the dirt parking area if you arrive late. There is no free water in the room either. I give this an average rating and would hesitate to stay again.

Great Location and Great Staff!
Loved the location and the Staff. Our room on west side was well appointed and had a great view from the 5th floor. The staff is amzing, smart and attentive. We heard some rooms on east side are not updated. The kitchenette was perfect for our 3 nights and the bed was very comfortable. The bike/ ski valet made life easier and the location was ideal. we parked our car forgot about it until we departed. The village shuttle goes every 15-20 min and fun. . Getting back to the hotel after dinner was also easy. we will be back!
