Noisy
We were expecting more from this hotel based on the reviews but were really disappointed. The rooms were ok, nothing special but the worst bit was the road. There’s no way you’d be able to sit out on the balcony, the roar of the road was deafening. We didn’t find the reception too friendly either. The bathroom was nice though and the guy at the valet was helpful

Lovely Hotel in a great location for Universal Studios
Great hotel with good amenities. Staff were really courteous and helpful. Lovely pool and courtyard area plus various activities available throughout the day. The free trolley shuttle to the Universal Studios Theme Park and City Walk was really useful.

Wonderful Experience
Our family stayed a night between visiting Disneyland and Universal and it was excellent. We got to stay in the Portolo Suite, and it was perfect for us. The kids had their own space to sleep without us disturbing them. Highly recommend staying here, especially if going to Universal as it was about 10 minutes from the park.

Great Stylish Hotel
The Garland is a great hotel, very stylish but felt lovely and relaxed. Really friendly staff, and great amenities - I loved the toiletries in the bathrooms. The pool and hot tubs were lovely, good service and yummy cocktails. Location was perfect for so many activities - Warner bros Studio, Universal, Griffith Park and Observatory, Hollywood Sign Hikes, Hollywood Bowl, Mulholland Drive to name a few me but a few. But felt like you were in a calm place. The hotel restaurant, The Front Yard is also highly recommended for the buffet breakfast and dinner. There is also a bar, gym, shop, shuttle trolley to Universal which we didn’t use. Would definitely stay here again next time we are in LA.

Disappointing and Very Noisy on Pool Side.
Have stayed here before and it was better then. The steady noise from the freeway would be preferable to the ground floor room, (pet friendly? Flea bites? We had no pet with us...), facing the pool and courtyard. The bass thumping from music began at 8:30am, and noise from the pool, and banging sounds from pool movies, & screaming lasted until 10pm and beyond. There were kids yelling and running around after 10:30pm. We followed detailed instructions on the patio door... and closed it as tight as possible but it was still loud. Needed ear plugs, a sound machine, and fan running and still heard noise. A large barking dog woke us once we did get to sleep. The parking is tight and expensive. Pool was loud, crowded, and not a good place to relax. Room small but clean. That said, the decor is nice and location convenient, but it would be good only if you were going to Universal and had kids with you. Not a good place for just adults, or if you have appointments the next day. Had they put us on the freeway side it would have been better. The steady traffic roar would have been preferable to intermittent banging, thumping bass, and yelling. I had hoped the clerk would offer an upgrade when we checked in, but since he did not I figured it was the only room left. Had higher hopes for this hotel. There are many others next time.
