Beautiful resort, super family friendly
We just returned from our stay at this beautiful resort. Had a really great time and frankly, this could have a 5 star resort if it wasn’t for the condition of the rooms. So let me start with the great—great food, lots of variety, home made tortilla, outstanding service by super friendly staff, always smiling and working around the clock. Also, excellent drinks, lots of bar options, beautiful nature, a cenote on ground with real jungle feel and lots of wild animals like monkey, coatis and beautiful birds. The resort has immaculately manicured grounds and well kept pools. Sunbeds are always a premium, you have to get up early to get one, but that’s the case everywhere. The beach is pretty, the staff keeps it clean from the seaweed, but it is also a public beach so it gets super crowded and not fun because of all the people who are not even staying at the resort. The cabanas are paid for (150 a day which is a bit too much) but the rest of the resort had some decent pool areas where you can enjoy some quiet time. Many restaurants options but often, a long wait to get it mostly because they reserve tables for the members of the resort club. Now for the not so great things, the rooms are in need of update. The shaper looks super old, the sink had a big crack and the beds in the deluxe rooms are sooooo small (my teenager’s legs are hanging off the frame of the bed). We did get some super good service by Victor who was our ambassador. But there are not enough coffee options and for a coffee drinker I didn’t it enjoy the much (the only option was the Marley cafe and is is paid for). So all in all, the resort is very pretty, very manageable, and the staff is great. If the room was better, I would have given this place the five star rating.

Avoid The Fives
The Fives was a terrible experience. The hotel requires an adult, someone over 18, to be present any time someone eats. We have 16 and 17 year old kids with us. They want to eat with their friends and do not want their parents around all the time. This requires someone to babysit kids that are old enough to drive cars. It makes no sense and they have zero flexibility. We approached the manager and asked for a solution. The response was that the policy was “for everyone’s safety because kids could have food allergies.” This policy is at complete odds with every other restaurant, common sense and the reality of traveling wit kids this age. We suggested we come with the kids, get them seated, wait while they ordered and then leave the restaurant. This reasonable solution was declined. One evening the kids were accompanied by a friend who was 18. They did not believe the kid was 18, and spent an hour verifying it when they had her passport verified at check-in and gave the 18 year old and adult band. The system felt like harassment. The Fives overall customer service is to find a way to get to “no” instead of trying to work with guests to make the experience the best it could be. The kids dining situation was the worst part of the resort for us. However, the resort itself is dated, not kept up as one would expect and a 3 on a 10 scale overall. I would not only NOT recommend this place, I would actively tell people to look elsewhere. This is the first post I have ever made when traveling but I felt compelled to post given the frustration with this place.

Great Destination Wedding
We had our daughter's destination wedding here. Isa and Max did a fabulous job with the wedding preparation and taking care of the wedding day. This resort does an excellent job with keeping people safe who have food allergies. We were asked by hostesses/waiters about any allergies at every meal. Eduardo in particular went the extra mile to make sure my husband did not have any food dyes. Wish I could have him as a waiter back here in Minnesota! My only disappointment was that it took such a long time to get hot water in the shower. Hopefully they will fix this.

Amazing resort & wedding venue
I got married at the resort in April 2025 & had an absolutely amazing experience! We had 41 guests and did our ceremony at the beach gazebo, cocktail hour at the grand garden & dinner on the beach. Our wedding planners (Ella, Isa, Max) were incredible - so helpful, responsive & caring. The wedding staff made the day of process so smooth & easy (waiters Jimmy, Eduardo, Belesario crushed it & took care of all those with allergies!). We were so so happy with the experience. They even offered a candlelight dinner on the beach for us as the bride and groom which was lovely (thanks David & Armenta for making it so special!). The wedding services for hair & makeup (huge thanks to Irma!) and photography/videography were wonderful. The resort itself was so fun - tons of restaurants with good food (our favorites were the Italian & Thai!), beautiful landscaping & super friendly staff. We enjoying seeing the monkeys playing in the trees too! We rented a penthouse which was perfect to host our guests - they really loved the views and private space to hang out! The resort felt safe, clean & welcoming. Really the only complaint we heard from guests is that their shower water wasn’t hot, but our room was ok!

Excellent service
We enjoyed The Fives March 2025 & were really impressed with the exceptional costumer service experience we had with Ricardo at the front desk. He patiently & sincerely answered all our questions and spent extra time to made sure we were happy with our suite. He made check in and check out a seamless process and continued to ensure we were pleased with all suite features and resort amenities. It was just delightful to find someone so genuine, kind and accommodating. This young man is a wonderful ambassador for The Fives and acted with utmost professionalism. He would be most worthy of a management position given his work ethic, organizational skills and diplomacy. Thank you Ricardo. You made our very first stay at The Fives a fantastic family holiday! We are grateful and will always remember you! Sincerely Jennifer, Dean & Sydney
