Women Beware: Guaranteed Reservation Denied and Turned Away on Arrival
I booked a two-night stay at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort with a confirmed reservation for a room with two queen beds. When I arrived at 7 PM on Thanksgiving weekend with my daughter and another female high school student, I was told no rooms were available despite my confirmed booking. The reservation line and the hotel’s website showed rooms available, including the type I reserved, yet the hotel refused to honor my reservation. The supervisor offered a room with a king bed, which was inappropriate for our party, and pressured me to cancel the booking to avoid penalties. They refused to provide alternative accommodations or guarantee the cancellation of my reservation. Later, I received a text at 1:14 AM stating my reservation had been canceled. This experience was deeply frustrating and unacceptable. The hotel’s failure to honor my reservation, lack of resolution, and poor customer service left me and my family scrambling for last-minute accommodations on a holiday. I would not recommend this property to anyone, especially women traveling alone or with other females.

Honeymoon trip - could of been better
We stayed here for our honeymoon, this was our 4th hotel of the honeymoon after travelling around Florida. To say we was disappointed was an understatement, the hotel is quiet dated, the bar, restaurant area could do with being updated and more modern. the pool was still shut (understandable that it couldn’t be helped after the hurricane), however I feel we should have been informed of this before hand. The room we had was modern, clean and had a large bed, however it overlooked the skips and car park which wasn’t what we had envisioned for our honeymoon. We told reception and we was given free breakfast (buffet that was not great), and they offered to move rooms after a few days but nothing could be done immediately due to there being lots of conventions on- one of the reasons we left- it felt like we was the only people there who wasn’t part of the many conventions going on in the hotel. We eventually left the hotel after 2 nights as it wasn’t what we wanted for our special time.

Birthday party
On November 30,2024 we had a family reunion of 15 people of various ages to celebrate my 92 birthdays. Our first contact was only a few hours before the event was with Booketa Gavani at the Rusty Bistro Restaurant at the Sandkey Sheraton. The manager Jason Stiger also joined us in the planning of the dinner party. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and led to a private section of the restaurant. Booketa made sure that the table was beautifully set with flowers for the occasion. Our waiter Mat was one of the best servers we ever had. The manager came out to make sure that were well taken care of. All the courses were excellent from the appetizers through the wide selections of main dishes and desserts. The waiter Mat went out of his way to please us. The evening was a success and truly memorable. Dr. Laszlo Adler

Good Venue for an Event, Great Accessible Restroom
The Sheraton hosted the Suncoast Jazz Festival 2024. The hotel was very organized, with accurate directions for finding our venue. The entrance to the hotel from the main road is blocked by cones in 2 of 3 entries, expected hurricane damage. But hard to find entrance. Parking is easy to do in front lot. The pool is closed but shows a great waterfront view, night and day. Love the wheel chair lift. Our group enjoyed dining options of upscale sit down Rusty's Bistro or Mainstay Tavern. I selected nachos at Mainstay Tavern. Service was fairly quick considering the large Friday night crowd, but they arrived BURNT. The rest of ingredients were good. The conference room for the swing dance event was spacious with adequate seating to facilitate just watching and for dancing too. The floor is great wood parquet dance floor arranged in 24 x 24 inch squares. Several of the squares loosened, a possible trip hazard. Engineers tried t fix this but part of the floor had to be closed. The acoustics is room is great for live bands and DJs. The gift shop is open 24/7 for coffee, and all kinds of memorabilia, books, sweet snacks. ACCESSIBILITY: Front hotels door are easy to open. Central lobby restrooms are awesome for wheel chair accessibility, with touch pad door opening, hands free operation, wheel chair stall with 5ft x5ft area for turning, and low sinks for hand washing. Pool has a great wheel chair lift. Mainstay Tavern has wheelchair access order and pick up station for food. Very crowded with event participants and allows no wheelchair access Rusty's Bistro is all wheel chair access with restrooms in central lobby, very close. Signage is fair, with small letters on some signs, and wall signage with blue letters on pale walls, fairly readable.

New rooms at the Sheraton
The Sheraton Sand Key is a hidden gem so to speak. Across the jetty is the new JW Marriott Clearwater, though it has its bells and whistles, I thought this property is an amazing alternative. Though the property sits back off the beach, it does sit in the gulf directly with water access. The rooms just went through a complete renovation and came out. Though the bathrooms are small the new shower really opens it up to maximize space. The housekeeping was nice as the room was clean and did not feel sandy and grimy which is sometimes found at waterfront beach resorts. The breakfast in the restaurant was a let down.
