Nice Hotel but Subpar Executive Lounge
Stayed at the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk work. As a Marriott Platinum member, I had lounge access and was very disappointed in the lounge offerings. There were no hot items served for dinner at all which is atypical for a Marriott Executive Lounge and the breakfast did not have the usual selection of items. The lounge itself is beautiful with a great view and has so much potential but is being mis-managed. On the plus side, the hotel staff were extremely helpful and rooms were nice.

Don’t stay here
Rooms are Outdated , rude and dismissive customer service from check in till after ! Hotel smelled like cigarettes/smoke in lobby and hallways when we arrived ! Then at check out they Held a $500 charge on my card for weeks when I kept calling asking about they kept telling me it was a deposit hold for using a debit card. Finally after 3 weeks of calling emailing and being ignored they all of a sudden they change their story and say the $500 dollar fee was a smoking charge for trash found in the room !!! There was no smoking in the room at all and trash does not constitute a smoking fee charge the policy does not say anything about paraphernalia/trash. I don’t even smoke tobacco, and the hotel smelled like smoke when we checked in. This place is a scam plenty of people complain of false or extra charges as well as smoke smell at check in, I’m not letting my $500 go im contacting corporate as well as BBB if I don’t get my money back cuz this is ridiculous! Don’t Stay Here Unless u like giving away free hundreds !!!!!!!

Decent property, unfriendly staff
The stay overall was just OK. The room itself had a nice view of the river, and the bed was comfortable. However, the bathtub did not drain properly and the room felt a bit dated. The lounge upstairs offered vegetables and cheese in the evening, but again the lounge was dated with wallpaper was peeling off in various places. The people at the check in counter were not very friendly, and did not mention anything about the destination fee or what was included in the destination fee. They also did not program the cards correctly so we had to comeback down to fix them. When we checked out, the men in the valet area assisted a woman who had just arrived, but completely ignored us and did not offer to put our luggage in the car and closed the cab door before we could even get in. Overall weird vibes but the hotel was comfortable enough that it still deserves 3 stars.

Okay stay but not worth the price
Imy husband and I went for an anniversary trip November 2024. We had a mixed experience. Pros: we arrived several hours ahead of check in and they were able to accommodate us early ($50 early check in fee, but to be expected), rooms were clean, housekeeping and cafe staff were wonderful, room service food was on point, location was convenient, and the water pressure was amazing. Cons: you have to pay $15 a day to use the wifi. I've never stayed anywhere that requires extra fees for Internet access. There is also another mandatory fee "destination fee" $25 per day and you get credits for dinner or the bar and tickets to a few museums (should be optional, we didn't use any of these benefits nor did we want them. But we still had to pay for them). The front desk staff wasn't rude, but they weren't super friendly either. No microwave or mini fridge in the rooms and rooms are a bit dated. We were there on a weekend where tons of college kids were in town to party (a regular occurrence we were told) so it got a bit noisy at times. Food at the cafe wasn't amazing either (I'd recommend venturing out or ordering room service).

Horrible Experience – Shockingly Poor Treatment of a Mother and Daughter
I recently had the most appalling experience at this hotel, which I thought was part of a trusted chain. My daughter and I arrived here, tired from a long journey, only to be refused check-in because we didn’t have a physical credit card in hand with my name. The staff & manager rudely informed us that we could only check in if we got approval through Bonvoy to use my husband’s card, as he had booked the room. Fine, rules are rules – so we went through the hassle of calling Bonvoy for approval, WHICH THEY PROVIDED. We thought that was the end of it, but incredibly, after all this effort, the hotel still refused to let us check in! Instead of offering solutions or honoring his word and Sheraton and Bonvoy’s own policy, the manager turned us out on the street with nowhere to stay. How is it acceptable to treat guests, especially a mother and her child, with such cruelty and complete disregard for customer service? It’s 2024—yet this hotel’s policies and attitude seem straight out of a bad movie. Shame on you for such disgraceful behavior! Avoid this place at all costs.
