Would not stay again
Don’t understand how this hotel could have been flagged as a Renaissance. I understand it is an old Sheraton, but this is not modern or luxurious or any of the qualities I think most people would associate with the Renaissance Hotel brand. As others have noted, the best feature of the hotel is the Swim Club in the basement. The rest of the place feels really tired and rundown. There was a very limited refurb that was done earlier this year but it feels like they cut corners where possible. The staff are friendly, but not super helpful. I tried calling the hotel on two occasions and both times someone would pick up and just my call on hold without saying anything. There are much better hotels in Austin. I suppose this is OK if you get a cheap price and you’re just here for a party weekend, but recognize this hotel is still about 15 minutes walk to the action on Sixth Street or UT.

Hardly “A Renaissance hotel”
First, there is NOTHING about this hotel that makes it Renaissance Hotel. Nothing. At most it’s a pink Aloft style hotel. Other people might like this hotel, but not typical Renaissance Hotel frequent business travelers. No concierge lounge. No real breakfast restaurant, no place to work or have a side meeting. This is not really focused at all on Renaissance Hotel typical customers. No idea what Marriott is trying to do here, but we felt dooped.

Great hotel, highly recommend
I stayed here last week for an event. The hotel is recently renovated and beautiful. We had an event at Swim Club and the food was very good, great vibe, great service. Will definitely be back for a girls weekend - the location was close to 6th street bars and the hotel was fun to hang out - especially the pool.

Downright Amazing Hotel!
I stayed here last week and had a great experience! Everything was either walkable or a short scooter/drive to UT campus, 6th street bars, and Franklin/Stubbs BBQ The hotel was recently renovated and leans into the Austin atmosphere - Swim Club is a must visit! Definitely try the tacos The staff was also very friendly and accommodating.

Great stay at Downright Austin!
Overall, fantastic experience at Downright Austin. The staff was very attentive and helpful and provided great recommendations as to what to do in the city. The rooms were well put together and designed. The pool was extremely lively on a Saturday with great poolside food and drinks. Will definitely visit again when I am back in the area. Don't forget to try the tacos there, very delicious!
