Nice Hotel a bit away from the action
Stayed here for one night while attending a conference at the JW Marriott. Was able to use points and a free night award for the stay. The rooms are clean, comfortable and the staff is great. Did not use the bar or restaurant. It is a bit away from the action of downtown Austin but not by much as less than a mile from the 6th Street fun. Enjoyed Whisler’s and The Continental Club for some conference events.

Trip to Austin
The hotel has a really nice, old school, and comfy feeling. Location is awesome close to dt but not to central so it escapes noise and heavy traffic. The gym and pool area are top notch and the outside garden is spacious. Didn’t receive a five star since halls and rooms were a bit stuffy and smelled like bleach. Nothing too serious as a bit of air flow to the room fixed it up.

Some flaws, yet great potential.
PROs: nice, wide room; Super nice underground restaurant, external pool and lawn. Kind people. CONs: anonymous lobby; no iron/iron board in the room; no glasses; laundry is not brough to your room; only a bar for breakfast; small bathroom; the valet is the same as the bell captain, therefore, you must exit the hotel and leave your luggage in the windy area of the hotel entrance. CONCLUSIONS: the stay can be definitely nice, especially if you exploit the lawn, pool and restaurant. The hotel looks more like an Autograph Collection than a Renaissance. It's probably a matter of parameters that assigned the Downright to Renaissance.

OK Stay with Great Service but Room for Improvement
The Downright Hotel is in an acceptable location, though it’s worth noting that it sits next to a highway, which can bring some noise. It’s within walking distance to a Whole Foods and shopping, so convenience isn’t an issue. However, the hotel feels like it may have been converted from another brand into a Renaissance hotel, and while I understand the theme and vibe they are aiming for, it doesn’t quite land the way it should. The staff is exceptional, incredibly helpful, and genuinely friendly. You can expect great service during your stay, which is always a highlight. That said, there are a few areas where the hotel falls short: • The music in the lobby is quite loud, likely amplified by the high ceilings and echoing acoustics. It would be a much more pleasant atmosphere if the volume was toned down. • The interior design of the lobby, hallways, and guest rooms leans heavily on dark, dated colors. While this may be intentional, it doesn’t evoke the modern, chic vibe I would expect from a Renaissance-branded property. • The food and beverage options are limited. I only noticed a coffee shop in the lobby and a pool bar downstairs. For a hotel of this caliber, I’d expect more robust dining options. Overall, this is an OK hotel if you’re looking for a place to stay in the area, but it doesn’t quite live up to the Renaissance name or Marriott standards for Platinum Elite guests. If your expectations aren’t sky-high, you’ll likely enjoy the friendly service and convenience. With some design updates and a bit more attention to detail, this property could shine brighter.

Phenomenal Experience
The service was top-notch. Kimberly had a way of connecting that really hit home. Her attention to detail and lively energy made me feel valued. Honestly, we need more people like her out there delivering this kind of experience. If you have questions please don’t hesitate to give me a call.
