Beautiful Place, Disappointing stay for our 10 year wedding anniversary

We have had several all inclusive experiences with resorts in cancun, punta cana, and Rivereria Maya. This was our first stay in a secrets location and first stay in jamaica for our 10 year wedding anniversary. I will say the beach was pretty and small but the pictures give you that expectation. It was a bit rocky in spots but overall a nice compact beach area. You may have trouble finding a spot, especially with shade but we have had that experience elsewhere also. Upon arrival, we passed all these honeymoon/anniversary/birthday banners on doors and unfortunately, when we arrived at our room there was no setup. I was disappointed because I knew it was requested in our room and nothing was present. We also had to wait for dinner 3 out of our 4 nights we were there. One night was a 3-hour wait, another 1.5 hours, and another a 30-minute delay in opening. I understand things happen, but I think there should be an accessible buffet or other dining if you don't want to wait for dinner. I shouldn't have to order room service to make sure I get food before 9 o'clock. The only reason the other dinner was on time was because we had to wait in line for 30 minutes before opening to get food at 6. For us being on vacation hopefully means I am not on a schedule. If you don't rush down to wait the restaurants will be full and you will wait till they empty back out. I did call the first morning we were there to schedule the hibachi grill so we could hopefully enjoy that. Unfortunately, they didn't even have any openings till Friday which was 4 more nights away which wasn't even within our stay. They did offer me to come to the 9 o clock dinner the next night and purchase the lobster which I think was $150 a person. That is a bit ridiculous and disappointing as well. I don't know if there are too many people or not enough restaurants but this was a very frustrating part of our trip. The overall service for us was nothing exceptional. Some staff went above expectations but most did not. This is different from our other all-inclusive experiences. Overall, Jamaica was a beautiful place, unfortunately, this will not make us book another trip to a Secrets location nor go back to Jamaica. Ps. Don't do the 90-minute sales pitch. Save your time and spend the extra money on your excursions or spa treatment.

    Save your money!

Stayed here Feb 21-Mar 1 in a Preferred room. When reading the 5 star reviews you will see one thing in common - they had a butler. There were plenty of butlers around the resort but they only help the patrons who paid for this service - makes perfect sense. However, the price we paid for Preferred was a complete waste of money. We had access to a preferred pool but everyone did. There is no music at this pool and the drink service is poor. The preferred lounge is not a lounge but a small 'cafe' with 4 tables. You can get top shelf liquor in the lounge which is the only plus. This was the only perk of being a preferred member. The room was comfortable and the mini bar was filled each day - 1 small bottle of rum for your entire stay, 1 small can of pringles, granola bar and peanut m&m's refilled daily. The excursions are crazy priced and so is the wine. They like their tips but the staff seemed bored and not interested in helping anyone. There are 3 resorts on this campus and all 3 share the same restaurants - we waited for over an hour for a table - service is extremely slow. We read the reviews before we booked and thought, take the good with bad and we booked anyway - bad choice. They ran out of jerk chicken at the Barefoot Grill because of the cruise ship guests being served - yes, the cruise ship passengers can use the campus for the day! There are very few chairs so you need to get up early. Want to sit someplace, you can rent a cabana for $100 a day - again, anything extra will cost you. We have stayed at Akumal, Moroma Beach, Punta Cana so we know what this resort chain is capable of. This resort had leaky roofs! You can see the holes. We were not met with a cold cloth and a cold beverage when we arrived, waited at the airport for an hour for the driver to bring us and check out was just as crazy. The excursions are crazy priced and so is the wine. Save your money and go to the other Secrets I mentioned. Not sure if it is Hyatt or Covid - this resort chain has changed.

    Loved Montego Bay!!!

I really enjoyed my stay here, the staff was so friendly. I did all inclusive. The food at the oceana was the best, this is where I met a very nice waitress named Careen, that and the French restaurant was my favorite. The beach was gorgeous. I didn’t any to leave!! I will be back!!!

    Unsatisfied.

The rooms were extremely neglected, we had paint chipping and water damage all over our room, not to mention a constant water drip from the ceiling in the bathroom. The main air vent in our room was covered in mold and dust also. Not satisfied.

    February 2025

Pool dirty most days. Very few waiters and waitresses around pool area. The lobby bar was occupied by an incentive trip group. No buffet for dinner. We had to be in line at one of the restaurants by 5:50 or you weren’t getting in on the first shift so you would be eating at 9pm or later.
