Nice hotel, too many users
No complaints in terms of the hotel itself. The food was good, always choices at each meal time. Majority of staff were friendly. The rooms are older than the other 2 Riu hotels but this didn't bother us as we only sleep and shower and don't spend our days in them. Also they are cleaned daily and fresh towels if needed. The only complaint for me was that it was a real struggle to get a sunbed/chair around the pool and beach. it wouldn't have bothered me as much but the majority were taken up by other hotels guests. I appreciate we can use their facilities but the reason we booked this hotel was for it's location on the beach and not having to walk to it. So at 7.30/8am not being able to get a bed in your own hotel i felt was really disappointing. People staying in the Tequila should not get priority over Yucatans own guests. I think a rule of maybe them being able to come over but not until 10am would help as most people would have chose their beds by then. The towels started to go out really early mornings, seriously people must have set their alarms. I wish the Yucatan management would look at this as this would be the one thing that would prevent me from returning it seriously is annoying when you've travelled on a long haul flight for some rest and relaxation to then find you have nowhere to sit or lay down because of a different hotels guests taking over.

Beautiful resort, customer service is terrible and I wouldn’t come back again
I stayed at Riu Yucatan for 1 week and at least everyday I had an issue with my doors not opening, the keys not working, and safe not opening either. Each time I was told I would have to wait up for a couple hours until someone could come out. I spent almost half my vacation waiting for someone to come help me. The people running the water sports are very shady as well I was asked every single day sometimes multiple times a day if I wanted “sugar for my booger” or cocaine and also offered me weed. They are very persistent and keep asking you to the point where it makes you very uncomfortable. I mean how many times do you have to say no thank you. It doesn’t seem like the resort even cares about this. The resort is beautiful and the all inclusive food and drinks is nice but customer service is terrible and I would definitely not comeback to this one.

Brilliant Hotel, Gustavo makes it!
We absolutely loved our stay here. Every Staff member very friendly and helpful which made the stay more enjoyable. The food is great and a good choice every day, lunch, breakfast and dinner. The rooms are a decent size and always clean and well air conditioned. There was an issue with the sink but was fixed eventually. The hotel was spotless always being cleaned and the cleaning staff always say hello. The location of the hotel is excellent, right on the beach and short walk from shops. The entertainment team are amazing and really make the hotel but a special mention for Gustavo who we became friends with, he lights up the place, so friendly and hilarious it isn’t the same when he isn’t there! We will be revisiting next year!

Brilliant holiday, over 2 years overdue
Stayed for 10 nights 20th - 30th April, originally due to travel in 2020 for my brother in laws 50th Birthday, have to say it was worth the wait, the hotel is spotless but as said in previous reviews the rooms them selves do need some TLC which I'm led to believe this is now due to happen soon, the food in the buffet for me is the place to eat, we visited the steak House at 8.10 & were told to come back at 8.50 we were then asked to wait for 10 more minutes which ended up being about another 30 mins when we eventually sat down we were offered some water but no other drinks & when the food did arrive the steak was not great & the vegetables were very hard, this was the worst evening of our stay, all the times we ate in the buffet restaurant it was excellent including the service, we had a couple of nights that we were woken by some inconsiderate guests who thought it was OK to shout & make as much noise as possible & another night when some lady also thought she could make a lot of noise as well, apart from these 2 incidents we slept quite well. The entertainers around the pool work hard & we enjoyed the beach party, we found the entertainment on an evening better in the Tequila hotel, the white party was great as was the neon party, you also get branded drinks but you need to ask for them or you will normally be served there own brands. We loved the animals on the hotel grounds & getting woke up by the howler monkeys was amazing, we were in room 3221 which is very close to the monkeys so no alarm clock required. This was my first visit to Mexico, I've visited the DR twice but did definitely prefer Mexico, Coco Bongo was brilliant as was Xcaret, the latter being quite expensive when you need to spend a lot more money if you want to things once inside. Overall this is a lovely hotel where all the staff work very hard, the buffet restaurant is very good but the others there is always a wait & the service especially at the steak House is no way as good as the standard set in the buffet restaurant, I would probably return but I personally prefer Greece which is closer to home & you can leave the resort & go to lots of different bars & restaurants but most of the Caribbean is basically stay on your resort unless you book a trip which I knew before I got there, you xam visit 5th avenue which is a short taxi ride away but it is a bit hectic & you do get pestered a bit which does get to you after so long. Hopefully this review helps in some way & there is definitely more positives than negatives at the Yucatan hotel.
