Last time to DR
The staff here has been wonderful and accommodating. Overall grounds well kept. It was a true effort trying to find a working elevator!!! We were on fourth floor and doable in a pinch but annoying! Food average at best… we said after our last trip here we’d not comeback because of the food but different resort so maybe. Disappointed again!! To be fair this is not a five star resort but wouldn’t take much to improve the food.

Book with Caution
My friends and I attended Riu Republica from March 16-23. We were anticipating a relaxing vacation where we could read our books, nap freely in the sun and enjoy the resort amenities. None of that happened. Drunk college kids running around the entire week screaming in the pools, leaving a mess everywhere they went and just no respect for anyone else at the resort. Check in was a one hour disaster, our rooms weren’t what we booked and buffet lines for days. Food was ok, our room was cleaned daily but had to ask for more water regularly, rooms keys would stop working, fire alarms would off in the middle of the night/early morning and we lost power once. The service was below average and seemed like they wanted you to eat, tip and get out. I would 1000% recommend looking into another resort for your stay-it’s worth the extra money.

Already planning my next trip
Wonderful experience with very minor annoyances, specifically, the electric outlets were not all working and our safe didn't work. Didn't report the outlets, but did report the safe on four separate occasions and it was never fixed. I think it just needed batteries. The rest of our experience was fantastic. Plenty of pools, bars, restaurants for everyone. We didn't have to fight for a seat at any of the pools or on the beach. We breakfasted at Mangu each morning. The food was delicious and the waiters awesome. Sandy and Ignatio took care of us each morning and went the extra mile to start our day off right. We ate at the Italian and Asian buffets. Preferred the Asian food. We also did the Steakhouse two nights. Food was OK and it was nice to have it brought to us instead of haivng to get it ourselves.
