This resort is perfect for a laid back and fun vacation. The grounds were kept nice and clean someone always working to keep them that way. The front desk gentlemen were very courteous and friendly. The staff at restaurants and bars works very hard and is also very friendly and make you feel welcome. This is my third time at a Riu resort in Mexico and I will definitely continue being a guest.

I have travelled to half a dozen or more all inclusive resorts in this area with a range of amenities and star ratings. Food The main buffet for breakfast and dinner was very clean and service was great. The food choices were mediocre. The food was almost the exact same everyday with very little variation for breakfast and dinner. Lunch buffet down by the pool was again almost the exact same everyday. An example of the variations that you will see from day to day is the protein option they serve for tacos; pork one day chicken the next. Other than that you are going to get much of the same. The lunch grill by the pool was just a quicker option with less of the options of the lunch buffet. You can get all the same stuff at the lunch buffet. "a la carte" was a let down. You have Asian, Italian, Mexican, Steakhouse options. The Italian was a la carte for your entree only... Appetizers and desserts were buffet style and I felt like I could get all of it at the main buffet. The main dish was great. The Asian was just a buffet with food from Asia. No menu to order at your table. The Steakhouse was all a la carte. This was a nice change of the buffet style we kept encountering for the dinners. We did not try the Mexican. 24 hour snacks - There is a fridge in the lobby bar area that is unlocked at 10pm. Inside are hamburgers, hotdogs, and a burrito wrap. I am guessing the hotdogs and Hamburgers are leftovers from lunch or maybe even dinner buffet? This is self serve and basically you just microwave whatever. So no room service, I knew this going in and though it's nice sometimes, it's not a huge feature for us. This snack set up was probably the worst I have encountered at any resort. Rooms Very clean. Maybe a bit dated but I was honestly satisfied with the room except for the bed. The bed was very springy and not the best. It did the trick and didn't take away from the trip, however, I've slept on comfier couches in all honesty. We didnt hear much noise from outside the room and we were ground floor facing the walkway. Housekeeping was awesome and always did a great job. Beach/Pool/Grounds Beach was nice. There was seaweed but it's the ocean. We either went thru it or walked 2 minutes to where it was non existent. The ocean floor was sandy and not rocky. Great beach. Lots of chairs all day. There are merchants but they are not overbearing. I did notice the jetskis and parasail boats exhaust a number of times, take what you will from that. Pool was ok. nothing special nothing terrible. There are employees that come around and offer you drinks through the day. People will complain that it was intermittent or not frequent enough but its amazing what a tip will do. I have nothing but praise for the staff. Great service. The grounds were clean and well kept. Always staff cleaning and maintaining. The staff were great. I have no issues with the quality of staff/service. So we chose to pay a bit more over some other options as we have heard great things about the RIU brand. We thought that the 4* rating on the travel website or the 5* rating on the hotel website would ensure quality, however, we left this vacation feeling that we did not see value for our money. We felt that we could have paid less elsewhere for better quality from our experiences over the years. This resort didn't ruin the trip, but it sure didn't make the trip either.

We spent 9 nights at this hotel again in April 2022. It is one of our favorites! The staff are so friendly and work so hard for you. Our favorite restaurants is the Italian and the Asian. Even tho the resort was very crowded, we only had to wait 1 night for a table for 2. The larger groups had more wait times. The buffet always had really good things to eat each night we went to it. The waiters get to know you if you sit in the same area and you get to know them too. Some even recognized us from our prior visits. It was nice to catch up with them again. Our room was in building 8, it was very nice. We didn't always get all the towels and hand towels every day, but made due. We got missed on stocking up the fridge, but always had enough to drink. The evening shows were much better this time and I'm sure that's because the occupancy rate was higher. The theater area was packed most nights. We really enjoyed the evenings prior to the shows when there was just a singer. The couple we saw were very good! We will continue coming back to this hotel!

Recommended hotel
Fabulous beach front hotel with a fabulous pool bar to relax in. Bedroom clean and spacious and severs restaurants to choose from. Our favourite was the Italian. Staff friendly and helpful and many activities each day with nightly entertainment.

Rooms- damp, mould on the bed, smelly and not cleaned properly Entertainment- amazing 10/10 Food- bland, got sick the last 7 days from everything we eat. Drinks were good and branded. Beach - white sand but lots of seaweed for this time of year and Cancun had less. Pool- dirty, lots of hairs in the pool, glass around the pool someone cut their foot. Wouldn’t return
