Best trip ever to Cancun
I wish I could give 10 stars. Every staff member was super nice and very accommodating. The entire facility was clean. Food was great. Drinks never stopped flowing. Are rooms were very clean and kept. We will definitely come back. We loved the white party that was a great time.

Fantastic Vacation!
This is the fifth time I have stayed at this resort. I love it everytime, never disappointed. Rooms were emaculate, service was outstanding, can't wait to come back!!!!!

Enjoyable
Had a good time. The evenings entertainment could have been better on the nights at the white etc parties at the other RIU hotel. At times at night there was noise from other holiday makers which unfortunately disburbed our sleep. Everything else was good.

Great pool and beach, everything else .. yuck
The Riu Las Americas is a 2-3 star resort. The rooms were bad. Bad! Big moisture issues. All of the rooms smell like mildew and mold. The bathroom ceiling corners in my room (+ other friends rooms) have black mold in them. I assume it’s easy for the mold to grow since the rooms are damp 24/7. The bed sheets are always damp, towels and clothes never dry no matter how long you hang them inside. Due to the dampness, the bed and bath linens smell sour. Just forget about the couch - damp, sour, definitely did not sit there. Damp linens aside, the tile floors throughout the room and bathroom are constantly slick because they too are wet from humidity. Had to be careful to not slip! The food was okay - what you expect at an all inclusive. Tried several restaurants and the buffet. Wait service was good! Enjoyed not having to make reservations for a la carte. The drinks were poor - bottom shelf liquor, either very very sweet, or watery. Didn’t have a single “good” cocktail. The house wines are … not good. Stuck to the Dos Equis! Pool and beach were nice!! Entertainment at night was what I expected - not great, not awful. Overall it was fine. I wouldn’t go back.

Overall Okay
When you enter the hotel the lobby is large and open, it has a nice vibe and looks clean. The staff are very accommodating and the kitchen and service staff work hard to ensure you have what you need. Where my stay was not so good is the food is below par and tastes very bland. The buffet has some good items but depending on your tastes you’ll find what you like. I assume this is to cater to all the different cultures and people they host. If you want good food go offsite, I highly recommend a taco tour while you stay in Cancun. I had a bad experience with the exchange desk where I asked to have 120 USD changed to Canadian. They said they didn’t have that amount in Canadian or the proper change so I offered them to put it back on my credit card but they gave me 140 Canadian and charged my credit card and gave me back the USD. So essentially did nothing for me and cost me 18$ to do the transaction so I was very unimpressed by this misunderstanding. Make sure you triple check before you do any transactions with them most exchanges are okay but I had this one poor experience and had to exchange my currency back in Canada where they understood what I needed. The 24hr snack room smells very off and I could not spend more than a few minutes in the room. Also the shower had an off smell but I believe this is due to the pipes/water used. I’m not sure I would book this hotel again and would likely try a different one to see if I have a better experience overall.
