Great resort
We loved the people, everyone was so nice! The drinks were great, it was a good mix of families, couples and spring breakers.

Average family resort with opportunity to improve
This was our 5th trip to Cabo and 4th hotel we have stayed at while there. I would give it an overall average to below average rating. Pros: - The Italian restaurant was good. My husband loved the lamb chops. The Steak restaurant was also very good! We also enjoyed the buffet for dinner one night. A big variety of foods to offer . - Also a great breakfast buffet. - The beaches were swimmable. First time in Cabo that we have seen people in the water. And just about a 5 min walk from hotel there was an area with a lot of people swimming in water. - Bar service was pretty on top of it around the pool. Although they don’t offer a food menu as with other resorts. - We weren’t there with small kids but there seemed to be a lot to do for kids. The cons: - The Japanese restaurant was terrible. Mushy rice. We heard many people in pool say they didn’t like it. - My son got terrible food poisoning from shrimp at buffet. He was violently ill starting early in the morning hours. I called front desk at 8am and asked to see the doctor they have listed. They told me they didn’t have a doctor. I then asked if they had access to a pharmacy and they said they did not and I would have to “walk off property for about 10 mins”. I had to treat him with what I brought in bag in case of emergency. Later in day around 5p he was still very sick so I went to front desk to offer to pay someone to go get the medicine that my doctor at home told us to get when I called back home. At that time they told me they DO have a doctor on site and that the pharmacy does deliver to the hotel. He went all day without the medication he needed for no reason. - You have to leave a towel card with the person in the towel hut. One towel per card. No exceptions. I have back pain when laying down so I like 1 extra to use as lumbar roll. Would not allow. And you have to return your towels every day to get cards back. They only have one towel hut and it was at opposite pool we stayed at so you have to do long walk to get & return. - The website said they don’t allow spring breakers but they did. We went with our adult children to relax and enjoy time together. It was often loud and rowdy. - Some parts of hotel are a bit run down / dated. - No snacks in mini bar / drinks only - They don’t take dinner reservations - The 1 evening show we saw was very good but you have to sit through an hour long kids show 1st. I understand it’s a family resort but the show should start earlier for kids (7p) and leave after 8p for adult shows.

Relaxing resort vacation!
We had a great time at the Riu Palace. We came for a relaxing resort vacation where we wouldn't need to leave the property if we didn't want to, and that's what we got. The pool and beach areas are really nice, there are lots of good food options for any taste, and the best part is that all of the staff is so kind and accommodating at all times for any things you need. The only "complaint" I would even have is that while the room was very clean, the smell of the cleaning products was strong, and I'd like a more comfortable mattress. However, Riu accommodated us with several extra pillows which helped. I would recommend this resort!

Very good resort overall
Number one about the resort was not having to battle for lounge chairs! First time ever! Cleanliness was excellent and poolside service was excellent as well, shoutout to Oscar who kept us hydrated 😉. The food was a bit of a letdown, although not terrible by any measure, it wasn’t great. The booze dispenser in the room was the real deal, so thanks for that! I would definitely stay at the Riu Palace again!
