I have never stayed at a RIU hotel before but can recommend the Ochio Rios. Firstly the positives: Great location My upgraded room was well sized Premium drink selection Good food - better in some restaurants than others Grounds are beautiful Great kids water park Overall one of the most relaxing breaks I have ever had Staff mainly friendly and helpful Negatives: Felt pressured to tip all the time. Which is annoying as the hotel is already pretty expensive Food in the Italian restaurant was disgusting, staff rude and found it unpleasant No free access to first aid. I couldn't believe it when they wanted to charge $50 US for a consultation. This means of course that they don't log injuries or health issues if you don't pay them! Which cant be right. Zumba class I attended was awful but instructor kept saying that he didn't normally teach it and was making up the moves. I did see a different instructor teaching aqua and he seemed great - so perhaps I was unlucky I would recommend this hotel. Overall the positives far outweigh any negatives.

Loved the Riu - staff great, food options great, service great, beach was great and overall experience was excellent and would definitely go back.

Riu Ocho Rios was such a great trip for my family! We must point out that the housekeeping team did a phenomenal job keeping our room tidy and fresh. From getting the sand off our beds, to making the room inviting and cozy. We appreciate you. :) Janet, Tavan and Shevaugh from the dining room (think St Ann) were so warm and inviting. They're the epitome of a true hospitality professional. Thank you again!! We can't get over how great the food was!! Koodos to the kitchen. Hot delicious and excellent selections everyday. The food tasted like it was made in heaven. Lol.You guys rock man. 100% recommended any time, any day!! Entertainment was a true hit! Kept us and our little one throughly entertained. The nightly Entertainment was like being on a concert set, especially the neon party and Micheal Jackson nights. The beverages were great, but we didn't find the bar team as warm and professional as everyone else around. We also had to get our own luggage from the front desk about 2 hours after we got our room. We didn't mind taking our own luggage, it's the fact they offered to do it and forgot. On the upside, the gentleman who checked us in was kind and informative. Too bad we forgot his name. :( The grounds are so well kept at this resort and we loved the water parks. Both for kids and adults. We'll definitely visit again. Thanks to everyone from A to Z for a wonderful vacation. Your efforts are sincerely appreciated.

Family vacation
We traveled as a family if 7, including 3 young children. We appreciated the children's area and spent a lot of time there both the ball pit and the water park. We appreciated the attention of the staff to the needs of young children. We were able to get warm milk for bedtime and one of the children celebrated a birthday while we were there and was brought a special decorated treat for breakfast.

Amazing Resort
Would stay here again. A bit far from the airport, but worth it. Food and drinks were great, and the resort was very clean. The electrical outlets in the room kind of sucks, but everything else was good.
