Best little hotel in Mexico
We went 24 April 2022 returning 8 May 2022, what a lovely hotel, although small, it was more interment, the staff were fantastic, the food was varied and plentiful, David, the manager, was ever present, Leonardo the entertainments manager was also ever present, everyone of the staff from cleaner, restaurant, bar staff, receptionists, bus drivers, we could not fault them. We attended the white party at the sister hotel riu Taquila, and the people there were not as happy as us..the hotel itself is clean, well maintained, rooms are cleaned daily, bus runs s to beach every 15 mins, and you get the same service from staff there as you do at the hotel, the entertainment team try and get you involved, in daily activities, but if you just want to sunbathe, they leave you alone, entertainment on every evening, varied some nights not as good as others. My only issue is they need to update the music list a bit with more upto date, I appreciate its Mexico and its Latin America, but I did miss my music 80s 90s etc. All in all 10/10, Thank you all for an amazing time....gutted to be home...P.s Captain Hook trip is worth while, Coco bongos although the shows were good to watch, too much rave crap in between for our age more for 20's age group xx

Amazing week away.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Riu Lupita and would return in a heartbeat. The staff are amazing and go out of their way for you. There is free Unlimited WiFi provided and we got it everywhere we went in the hotel. This was a worry before we left as we had read the bad reviews on the WiFi but we were pleasantly surprised by it firstly being free and how good it was. The bed was the most comfortable bed we’ve ever stayed in. The food was great, so much choice and with allergies I’m always a bit dubious travelling however they had little symbols on all of the labels for the food so you could see exactly what is in every dish. The cocktails are lovely, and the list of them was as long as our arm! Definitely something for everyone. The optics in the room is also great if you just want a quiet one in your room. The entertainment went out of their way and they had a good selection of different things on everyday. The beach bus is bang on time and doesn’t take long to get to fifth avenue or the beach. We did walk it a few times too and it’s not a long walk about 30minutes. If the golf course is shut you can walk to The beach across the golf course and by Riu Palace which is only 10minutes. The seaweed on the beach changes everyday, first half of the week it wasn’t bad at all and we swam in the sea with no issues. The last few days however it was really bad and was literally turning the water brown. The tractors clear the beach every morning up until 12, when we were told they are made to stop because the tourists don’t like them working. However the tourists then moan about the seaweed so doesn’t seem like they can win. Regardless of the seaweed we still enjoyed the beach and I think as long as you understand it is an issue with the season. The facilities are all kept immaculate, they clean constantly. The tennis and table tennis were great. We were very dubious before we arrived after reading the reviews but we’re so glad we stayed, we had an awesome time.

2 week visit from Canada
I have been to Mexico many times and this might have been one of the quietest places i have ever visited. If you like quiet and more of a condo with a couple of pools setting then this is your place. The place is a cute little condo like place that is not on the ocean and in fact you need to take a bus to the beach and it is about 15 minutes over a pile of speed bumps. The staff were all good, the food was good and the drinks were good. It had a feeling of a 3.5 star hotel and the rooms were clean and everything worked. I did not like that they cheeped out on the mattresses, I would guess that they spend about $80 bucks for the mattresses. This was really the only issue that we had. Couple of little things but these were sunwing issues not the hotel. We had a good holiday, lots of seniors and lots of kids seeing that it is a real quiet little resort. We had fun and would go back with the right deal.

A most pleasant stay!
I’ll admit that I was a teensy bit disappointed after I booked my stay and realized that Riu Lupita was a bit on the “humble” side and not as fancy as Riu’s other properties. However, what Lupita lacks in elegance and luxury, it makes up for in the attentiveness and kindness of its staff members, the surrounding natural beauty, and its food and facilities. All of the staff members at Lupita, from the people at registration, to the bartenders, to the restaurant staff, to the groundskeepers are kind, attentive, and great at assisting when you have questions, concerns, or problems. The people at registration were very helpful in ensuring we were able to get a bite to at at the buffet when we arrived tired and hungry. They were very helpful to us in securing transportation into town and when our previously booked airport transportation didn’t show. I felt the staff went above and beyond. The pools and restaurants are all quite nice. The main pool has sufficient space for kids to horse around, couples to get cozy, and for volleyball enthusiasts to enjoy a game. Everyone behaved well and there was a nice mix of young, old, families, couples, and groups. It’s family-friendly without being overwhelmed by screaming kids, and on the laid-back end of the spectrum rather than crazy college kids spring break central. The food was surprisingly good!! I usually find buffet offerings on the bland and boring side, especially for us vegetarians, but Adelita (buffet restaurant) had lots of yummy stuff, including very fresh tasting vegetables (didn’t seem to be canned), a great selection of cheeses and breads, a varied salad bar, a pasta station, an omelet station, freshly made donuts, and chilaquiles I devoured every morning of my stay. Those green chilaquiles were my favorite! We also ate at Maria Bonita and enjoyed the vegetable enchiladas quite well. We didn’t try Dante (Italian) or the steak place. The shuttle to the beach is super easy and quick—maybe 7 minutes. The pool and bar at the beach were nice, as was the pool. I lazed in a lounge chair while my kid splashed around. The beach is beautiful, but a bit yucky cuz of the proliferation of seaweed (sargassum), which is unsightly, feels gross on one’s legs, and eventually stinks. This is through no fault of Lupita, however, and a seasonal plague to the entirety of the Cancun/Playa del Carmen area. While we didn’t go into the water, we enjoyed the sight and sound of the beach. Lots of braver, less-picky folks were enjoying being in the water just fine! The entertainment was really awesome! We saw and heard very talented performers. Alas, we were so exhausted by our daytime activities that we knocked out before the entertainment on most nights, but the couple of the acts that we saw were quite good! The performers were great with the crowd and lots in the audience got up to dance, clap, and just have a great time. While Lupita isn’t the grand architectural statement that the Palace is, for example, it’s very, very beautiful because of the surrounding jungle. We got to see amazing wildlife up close and personal in our “backyard.” We saw lots (sometimes up to 20!) of adorable coatis every morning, capybara, monkeys, and gorgeous birds. Enjoy these creatures with your eyes and photos—please don’t feed them! The coatis were especially charming and cute, and we really appreciated being able to experience these wild creatures. All in all, I’d say that Lupita is a great value for the price you pay. Everything is clean, safe, and well-maintained. The staff is great. The food is great. The pools are great. Relax and enjoy!

Riu's bargain barn
The economy Riu, you get what you pay for. May I recommend you choose a Riu that is on the beach. Great value , just a lousy location and small pool. Choose a hotel that includes all the water sports toys, this Riu has no beach hut and no activities.
