Lovely Hotel and amazing views
Having always stayed on the strip, we decided to try Rio for new year hoping to get a strip view room to watch the fireworks. On arrival, check in staff were very helpful and kindly gave us an amazing rrom (it was on our booking but its never guaranteed until you arrive). We were in the Ipanema Tower with a great strip view. All rooms in Rio are suites which is amazing when travelling with small children. lots of space in the room, nice sized bathroom and huge shower, sperate area with a sink and mirror to get ready and a large wardrobe. The safe didn't work but we called reception and they sent someone who put a new battery in straight away. We had a fridge (no mini bar) which again was great because we bought milk and other drinks so could keep them chilled during our stay. The room was clean but after the first day we didn't receive housekeeping. quick call to reception again and it was sorted (apparently you have to request housekeeping but we weren't told and they had serviced our room on the first day anyway) We ate at Hash House a Go Go one morning and Luckleys one evening which we enjoyed and saw the WOW spectacular show during our stay but the hotel doesn't have much else to offer. The area near Kiss golf look sad and empty as most shops have closed and the new food court isn't great (handy if you get back late and need to grab food but not somewhere you would want to eat everyday) I know Rio have been renovating so hopefully things will keep improving. We watched the fireworks from our room on NYE, this meant we didn't have to carry our 4 year old on the strip as no strollers are allowed on NYE and its also packed so didn't like the idea if the huge crowds. This was the best idea! if you have children (or just don't like crowds) and are heading to Vegas for NYE I would highly recommend staying at the Rio and asking for a strip view room, we enjoyed watching the fireworks along the whole strip while in our warm room. If you don't get a strip view room you can also watch from the bridge as you exit the hotel car park and see the whole strip without the crowds also. We had a lovely stay overall, all staff, security and cleaners we met were friendly and helpful. We would consider staying at Rio again, we even walked to/from the strip a few times (during daylight only) and it really wasn't far.

Avoid if you can
This is not GOH deserves The bed sheets and comforter were visibly dirty, indicating the room had not been properly cleaned before my arrival. When I reported this serious hygiene issue to the front desk, the response and proposed solution were highly inappropriate: 1. When I requested clean bedding, I was told that housekeeping had been contacted but was given no definite timeframe for resolution, only that it might be addressed at "2 or 3" AM while I was sleeping. 2. Shortly after, someone who was not from housekeeping arrived with some sheets only. This staff member informed me I had only two unacceptable options: - Change the bedding myself - Sleep on the dirty bedding and wait for an uncertain interruption during the night 3. Surprise, the new sheet I got is also dirty. There is some blood on the sheet. And I have to call the front desk to request comfort again. The front desk only gave me one option that they can send new comfort but I have to change by myself. Funny part is she asked me if I'm happy to do that.

Not a Hyatt experience...
Not a Hyatt experience. Resort is worn out and needs major uplift. Lifts, common areas, pool etc are in poor shape. The resort looks very worn out. Some rooms are renovated but even the renovated rooms are wearing out quickly due to lack of proper maintenance.
