Hotel Cleveland
I needed a hotel very near to the train that goes to the airport in downtown Cleveland. I was hesitant to stay at the Hotel Cleveland because of some past reviews complaining about construction noise. Fortunately, my stay was peaceful and I found the staff, especially Adam, to be helpful and kind. The location was perfect. They even had a door connecting the shopping center where the train station is directly into the hotel! I found outside was busy and seemed to be a transportation hub. There certainly were some homeless folks, but also plenty of security and a police presence. Beyond being asked for spare change, no one was aggressive or rude. It was easy to walk to nearly anything in the downtown area, and the large tower made finding my way back very easy. The hotel is historic and beautiful. The rooms seemed still new and the beds were very comfortable. I would stay there again.

Remodeled Hotel Cleveland Very Surprising
We fly into town for Browns games and this was our first stay at this hotel, as I did not like the old Renaissance. Everything was sold out so we gave this a try. WOW. I honestly have no complaints other than the lighting is too low in the bedroom. It was a super busy Cle weekend with tons going on, playoffs, HoF, Browns & checkin was quick even tho line was long. Decor throughout hotel is beautiful and reminded me of nice historic European hotels I’ve been to. It’s decorated in teal, gold and crystal. I had read some complaints about narrow dark hallways and I thought the hallways were wider than modern hotels and no darker. Room was very nice and clean (our K was decent size) bed & linens were comfortable, nice bathroom with good lighting & rainfall shower with Aveda products. Lobby is beautiful with large bar, good service and menu. I also like (some may think it’s a pain) you can only enter off Superior, whic keeps it safer IMO. You can exit off Public Sq. Only minor cons were mini fridge & tv weren’t working; they weren’t plugged in & HDMI needed to be reset so I fixed it quickly, lighting is minimal in bedroom even in daytime, and we had a connecting room and could hear some noise from other room — not terrible I’ve had much worse. Definitely a much improved hotel with Autograph Collection style.

Great staff, eclectic ambiance
Very Nice overall, staff was excellent everywhere. Rooms are a bit dated (remember old building rennovated), a slight musty smell hits you when walk in, but franky better than many chains I have been in lately. For an old building, they figured out HVAC that works well, doesn’t disturb you. Good location walkable to many venues.

Overall a nice hotel with minor flaws
We stayed at the Hotel Cleveland for 5 nights. Overall, you can tell that the hotel was recently renovated and our room was quite nice. We parked elsewhere for cheaper than the hotel parking and did not try the onsite restaurant so I cannot provide feedback on those items. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel but there are a few things the hotel could improve on. We used points for our stay and felt we got a pretty good deal. Pros: -the decor is quite nice, reflects the history of the city, and our room was a decent size for a downtown city room. The mattress was either memory foam or a hybrid and was very comfortable. -our room and hallways stayed quiet, we rarely had to wait for an elevator and the hotel was clean and well kept during our stay. -located right downtown within walking distance of many restaurants, stadiums, and attractions. -friendly check in (our front desk attendant Charlene was very friendly, provided free water and other suggestions for our stay) Neutral: -you are situated next to a casino and large public transportation hub so be expected to run into decent size groups of people hanging outside the building complexes. There is plenty of police presence and I had no problems with the noise in my room. -housekeeping did a good job with our room the entire time we were there. The last day we were there (approaching the weekend) they didn’t come until after 4pm so I do think there may be capacity issues when the hotel is at full or near full capacity. -We had an interior facing room so our view wasn’t great but it wasn’t as bad as some of the reviews on this site reflect. -streaming: it was nice to have some streaming options but it would be preferable if Marriott offered connection to more services than Netflix, Pandora, and YouTube. It did look like the hdmi port was accessible so you may try bringing your Firestick or chromecast. Cons: (As these were items we saw were common from other reviews and we could generally live with them, we did not request maintenance for these items while we were there) -HVAC struggled to keep up within the room. We could never make it as cool as we wanted despite having the system running the whole time we were there. The system was working - not sure if the system just doesn’t work as well in an older building. We generally like it a little cooler especially when we sleep so it was a little disappointing to walk in from a great day in the breezy 60s and find your room stuffier and hotter than outside. -if you are sensitive to lights when you sleep, the light on the smoke detector was super bright and flashed at 7 second intervals throughout the night. It was as bright as a flash of lightning outside would be. Generally you don’t notice as much when there’s other lights on in the room but at night when all the lights are off it’s distracting.

Not Sure How this Hotel Meets Marriott Standards
The stay started poorly. When I checked in, there was no offer of bellman services nor directions on where my room was located. I ended up walking around and around trying to find it. Heard the same from other guests. Part of the issue is lack of signage and the hallways being so dark with dim overhead lighting. There is no information indicating what is on the dining menu – not even on-line. May have eaten here if we knew what they served. The room itself is very small and dark. It needs more lights. It is not suitable for a business traveler like me. There are an inadequate number of electrical outlets and none that I could find near the desk. The desk chair is not comfortable to work from. There is no iron and ironing board and the locking security for the room does not seem adequate. Housekeeping came after 4 PM and did minimal cleaning. They did not empty the ice bin and did not replace dirty glasses. The HVAC did not keep the room cool. I woke up several times sweeting. The shower track does not drain which makes me worry about germs growing there. Front Desk Manager and staff were not friendly Never heard a "thank you" or an apology about identified concerns.
