Thank goodness the buffet food was great…

Food Buffet Excellent. Delicious food. A little repetitive. But we were fine with that, since it was very good quality. Ice cream was a positive. Yummmmm says my daughter, A la carte Not impressed. Went to buffet after route66 restaurant. Steak house - flank steak……. Very tough. The beach and ocean No beach. Significant erosion, only narrow strip of beach. Very rocky. Lots of sarcasm. Not Swimmable on the days we were here. Very rough. Some resorts have built barriers in ocean to prevent erosion, this creates calm areas for swimming you can find that .5 km north, calmer, but very shallow. Very murky. Snorkeling definitely not an option. Anywhere within walking distance. The resort atmosphere Party atmosphere, music is going all the time and too loud says my daughter. Loud music we can hear into the night in our rooms! It to mention all day from every pool. The pools Small. Urine smell. Very busy, even at privilege pool (available if you upgrade) The waterpark My daughter was not able to go down the slides without pushing and scooting herself all the way down. The rooms Rooms are very nice. Quiet air-conditioning.. no musky or mouldy smell. It is a new building. I’m not sure how long that will last given the climate here.. but for now there is definitely no mould. Random resort details Very small resort . Very skinny long resort between the beach and the highway. Nothing really to explore for kids. No shade walking from your rooms to the restaurant or to the lobby. No jungles to explore . No quiet areas. We tend to look for nature areas , clean air, good food. This place definitely had good food. There was clean air.

Hot Leaky Mouse Intrusion in “Paradise”

We had a deeply disappointing experience during our recent stay at Ocean Riviera Paradise in Playa Del Carmen. Upon arrival, we immediately noticed our patio lacked cushions and the minibar fridge was not cooling properly. Despite several calls to guest services, we were met with dismissive responses and excuses. The next morning, we awoke to an ant infestation—ants crawling across the floor, walls, shoes, and even near the bed. While this issue was addressed after complaining again, the fridge remained unfixed and the promised cushions never arrived. Shortly after, the bathroom sink broke and flooded our towels just before a dinner reservation. Although staff agreed to deliver towels and fix the sink while we were out, the repair person arrived while we were still getting ready, cutting my shower short and leaving behind a pungent odor that lingered in the room. When cushions finally arrived, they were the wrong size, warped, and had exposed Velcro. The sink, though repaired, continued leaking. Things took a turn for the worse when a mouse ran across our room. Hotel staff witnessed this and acknowledged mouse droppings, including behind the fridge and on the nightstand. The mouse had likely chewed the fridge cord, explaining its failure. We were offered relocation, but the process was excruciatingly slow—past midnight with two small children. Initially, we were offered a single king-bed room, but only after insisting did they move us to a “privileged suite,” which was nearly identical and riddled with its own issues: broken AC, non-functioning lights, an unstocked fridge, and again, no patio cushions. The poor service continued, with no turndown service, repeated calls for basic requests like water being ignored, and ongoing maintenance issues. I called several times just to receive drinking water, and on my final attempt to complain, the staff hung up on me. This was not just delayed service—it was blatant disregard for guests. The air conditioning remained unfixed throughout, making for a very uncomfortable final night. Collectively, the experience was frustrating, unsanitary, and far below the standard promised by a five-star resort. We expected a relaxing, comfortable vacation but instead were left disappointed and inconvenienced at every turn.

The resort was great! The restaurants were amazing! The steak house we had to repeat! Thank you to the great staff! Francisco and Sarai at the lobby bar were amazing! Had the best ice cream pineapple and strawberry - had to get one very afternoon! Can’t recommend it enough! Everything was truly great! 😊

    With family

We had the best time! The food was great! And we had the best time at the pool and bolling with Alfredo! Definitely recommend! The cleanliness was great. The affordability of programs was great. Definitely recond for the whole family. We saw so many families having a great time with their kids!

Amazing place for families with small kids

This place is the most amazing resort for families! My 4 year old has decided he’s moving here and not going back home. The activities vary every day. There is something in kids club at the kids pool and at night every day. There are animals all over the place to see. The food is brilliant! And the ice cream shop, bowling alley, and family Lange are just icing on the cake. The staff at kids club are hands down brilliant. Thank you Mirelle, Viri, Karely, and Fer for taking such good care of our boys and entertaining them and us all week. We’ll definitely be back!
