    Hospitality

José Martin - The manager of the resort went above ane beyond to make our stay pleasant. He saw us standing in line for our check-in and personally helped us with check-in and also upgraded to an ocean front room. In addition, he was also was able to get us a couple of reservations for the restaurants with in the resort. He was our go to person during our stay and we can't thank him enough!!

Wonderful resort with 5 star service

Our vacation to Occidental Tucancun was an amazing time. We were a group of 5 women and felt at home and safe the entire time. The resort is on the smaller side which makes it more intimate. The grounds are pristine and the ocean front is absolutely gorgeous. The resort location is in the middle of the hotel district so bus service is simple. What stands out the most about this resort is the staff! We received amazing service from every department. The staff would go above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and fun. A huge shout out to Antonio Mex and Laura Pat in the main lounge. They work so hard to keep everyone happy with a cocktail in their hands. I even got to dance with Antonio which I am sure was more fun for me than him 😂. I would also like to say the pool entertainment and zumba instructors are so energetic and create a fun experience for everyone. Dianne was an amazing pool waitress who always had a big smile on her face while serving drinks in the heat. Thank you for the great time. We will be sure to return. Kim Witala Kelowna, BC Canada

Great view and staff but horrible food, service, and room quality. This place is falling apart.

I stayed at the Barcelo Occidental Tucancun for a week and wanted to share my experience. The highlights: - The staff are all very kind. - The beach and view are stunning. - There is easy access to a grocery store (across the street). - There is an adults only pool. The lowlights: Food and Drink: - Other than Mexico Lindo (one of the three restaurants) the food quality is extremely poor at the buffets and restaurants. - The “Snack Bar” is either completely empty half the time or full of oil soaked fried foods. - Despite being “All Inclusive” room service comes with additional charges. - Drinks are not served until 11AM and service concludes at 11PM. Room Quality - We had to switch rooms twice from the one we were originally assigned as the first one was leaking. As such we had to go through the whole check in and out process twice which was hugely inconvenient. - The rooms hot water is sporadic with it sometimes taking 10Minutes to heat up and other times being scalding hot. - The key cards are outdated and demagnetized by the slightest contact with your cellphone (we had to update our keys about 10 times) which is super annoying when you are at your room and have to go all the way back to the front desk. Amenities - The gym is tiny and is easily maxed out with 3-4 people working out. - The adult only pool had one of its ladders broken and the stools at the swim up bar were physically falling apart. - The pool loungers are incredibly worn out and uncomfortable. - The entertainment and events are not advertised well and the whole resort is often unsure of what is going on and when it is. Overall, my impression of this resort is that it is extremely poorly maintained and the food and drink quality are sub-par. I feel badly for the staff who are caught in the middle trying to make a positive experience with what appears to be little to no budget. Unfortunately this was my first experience with Barcélo Resorts and it will be my last. I would have given this resort 1 star had it not been for the kindness of the staff and beauty of the beach. However, If you are considering coming to Cancun I recommend looking elsewhere.

    Exceeded our Expectations- 10+

This was our seventh time to Mexico but first stay at this resort ( an extended stay as a retried couple) and TuCancun was the perfect place for us! We are Canadian and not too fussy but do have expectations. The staff were the absolute best; special thanks to Sabino, Robin , Geo, Daniela, Nancy, Mel, Everly ...actually ALL the staff they are fantastic, friendly and work so hard to ensure the guests' stay is special. We loved the activities , aerobics, pool volleyball, pool games, zumba/dance lessons all were awesome! We used the gym often and Robin was wonderful ( it is a small gym so it would be nice if there was a designated yoga/pilates area in the future, and also suggest pickleball lines be drawn on to the tennis court ).We always found something to eat- buffets were fine nothing fancy however the breakfasts were excellent, ala cartes were great and easy to book IF you get the upgrade to Premium level which we highly suggest. We enjoyed the special SuperBowl event and had a lot of fun meeting staff, other guests and enjoying the spectacular beach ( breathtaking). Resort and rooms are kept very clean including well maintained pools...exceeded our expectations..thank you TuCancun ..we hope to visit again in 2026! blessings from Karen and Kenny K.

    Great Time @ Occidental Tucancun

Stayed 9 nights in the Premium Ocean front villa, I had a wonderful relaxing time. I actually didn't turn any of the tv's on, I always had something to do. The food and alcohol drinks are much better than years past. Can't wait to visit again.
