Top notch all inclusive property
Absolutely beautiful property. Quieter clientele. Lots of stairs gets you into shape! The staff are wonderful! The food is quite good if you are not overly fussy - something for everyone's taste.

Lots of steps and lack of shade.
Lots of steps and lack of shade. Accommodations could be spruced up a bit. Pool tile/grout/in-pool lounge chairs look like they need to be cleaned. Workers work hard but could be friendlier (could be a translation issue). Nice entertainment in the lobby and around the pool. Change of lunch menu varieties at the Snack Restaurant might be nice.

Hotel not what we expected for 5star
Supposed to be 5 star resort; we would rate at most 3 star. Room was very dark and out dated. Room safe was very old and hard to work. Bar fridge in room was rarely restocked, had to call and ask for water, pop and beer. Food was sub par; Valentines dinner was hot dogs, hamburger and pulled beef. We ate at the Asian restaurant and it was extremely salty. On site transportation was hard to get a hold of; we mainly walked. On a positive note Carlos Riuz (front desk) was very nice, helpful and managed to get us a brighter room after 3 nights. The event staff and (Taylor bartender) at the swim up bar were excellent.

We met so many nice people around the pools and that really helped make it a great week.
It was our first time going to Costa Rica. We completely enjoyed the wildlife that was present on the resort, seeing the howler monkeys in the morning was a highlight of our morning walks. I liked that the resort is more like staying in the jungle as opposed to staying in a commercial area. Yasniri and Kendoly were fabulous activity staff. They were so much fun and the water aerobics classes were excellent. I was sad that we were not told where we could access the information regarding activities when we checked in as we would have participated in more activities with the activity staff. Jennifer the pool bar server was awesome! The stairs are something people really need to consider when staying here because you will be walking up and down stairs and hills your entire stay. The food was not good, there were not a lot of choices and it was very repetitive. The rooms are very dark and outdated and the pools were both loosing tiles on a daily basis. I reported a hornets nest to management as it was located around the hot tub and It was not dealt with. We ended up changing rooms after two days because our room was so dark and the safe didn’t work and the toilet ran constantly. We have stayed in several 5 star resorts in many other places and this is not a 5 star resorts in. The was our first time staying in an Occidental Resort and other guests told us that this resort does a poor job in representing what the Occidental Chain. I should mention the Bay of Papagayo is beautiful and the beach was very nice.

You could do so MUCH better
You need to cater more to the baby boomers. They are the ones with money. Elevators are necessary on building that have more than two floors.
