Substandard Hilton in a terrific location
This hotel is in a great location, but with indifferent and sub par service. No in-room coffee. No bottled water even for Hilton honors gold. No upgrade offer during checkin, refused even a half hour late checkout because the hotel was allegedly sold out (it was not - same class of room was available on the website). Half the calls to customer service went unanswered. Mattress and pillows were all excessively soft and difficult to sleep on. Onsite restaurant and lobby bar have limited and sad looking menus. Compared to other Hiltons in prime locations (e.g. had a wonderful stay at the Paddington Hilton in London a few months ago), this place is really a glorified motel 6. If you don’t depend on hotel amenities and mostly dine outside, you’ll be fine since this is still in one of the greatest cities on the planet. However the equivalently priced Times Square Westin nearby is a much nicer option, as is the Marriott just opposite this hotel.

Repeatedly Rude Front Desk
I don’t usually leave reviews, but after our second bad experience at the New York Hilton Midtown, I feel compelled to share. A few months ago, we stayed here and encountered unnecessarily rude behavior from the front desk when trying to check in a bit early. We shrugged it off as a one-off issue and gave the hotel another chance. Big mistake. This time, my fiancée arrived before me and attempted to check in—she was listed on the reservation—but the front desk staff claimed they couldn’t find it and treated both of us with open hostility. I was on the phone trying to assist, and the way we were spoken to was shockingly unprofessional. "Rude" doesn't even begin to cover it—condescending, unhelpful, and completely lacking in basic courtesy. This level of treatment is unacceptable, especially from a hotel of this caliber. We won’t be returning, and I’d urge others to seriously consider whether the location is worth the experience.

80% Well experienced
It was really good. Only two negative points: - the bed weren't large enough for two people - we had to pay a 50$ breakfast (200$) because we didn't see the right "free breakfast" who wasn't well highlighted. The hotel didn't want to refund us.

Thanks Sharon!
I stay at Hilton Midtown often for business travel. When visiting the Executive Lounge in the morning, Sharon makes it feel like my second home. She greets me with a smile and a welcome every morning. It’s nice to see a friendly face when far from home.

5 star location.
Great location, friendly staff, hidden charges. We arrived earlier than the check in time and thought we would take a chance and see if we could check in. Great news, our room was ready! Front desk staff were very helpful and informative. First impressions of the hotel, clean, great location. Friendly staff, however lots of staff trying to sell you a timeshare, we were stopped twice before we got our room key. Room was lovely, not so much of a view but that was fine. Didn’t hear any noise from the rooms around us, corridor or the city streets. A cot was not in our room when we got there, which front desk thought had already been sorted, so we rang down and a cot was brought up and set up. Later we realised the room amenities were quite slacking and rang down to ask for a kettle as we needed to make/heat babies bottles, someone brought a kettle up within 30 minutes of asking. Another small issue, we couldn’t get the plug in the bath, so rang maintenance, someone came and fixed the plug while we were out one afternoon. All in all the staff were lovely and all VERY helpful! On check in, we were told about the city tax, which was fine, we partly expected that, this was given as a voucher to spend within the hotel, bar, shops etc. $400 holding fee was also taken from a credit card, again that was fine and expected. When it came to check out, we asked if late check out was possible as we had a baby and would’ve been good to let them nap before a long flight, however this wasn’t available, not a problem, we were planning to let him nap before check out. The cleaner then came around 10am, we were still in the room, then 11:58 as we were getting ready to leave, another lady knocked on the door and asked when were planning to leave, seemed as if we were being rushed out. Check out was smooth, any bill is settled via the credit card on hold. However what did bother us, is the $5 per item fee to hold our baggage for the few hours before our flight. All in all, lovely stay, great location. Just a stone throw from both Times Square, 5th avenue, Central Park & Rockafella!
