Getaway to Santa Barbara
A wonderful hotel, in a great location. Friendly, helpful staff who answered all of my questions. The room was very comfortable, and I had a view of the beach and the ocean. I ate at the on site restaurant, and enjoyed the grilled octopus. I want to visit again this summer!

Lovely Hotel
I took a quick trip with my daughter to visit friends and thought the hotel was delightful. It has an authentic California coastal charm. My only criticism is the TV had no streaming service available and the closed captioning was not working, which was unfortunate as I have hearing loss.

Gorgeous hotel, but don't settle for a parking lot view
This hotel is gorgeous, and right across the street from the beach. The decor is beautiful and their fitness center is small, but is clean an has excellent equipment, including several Peloton bikes. My advice is to upgrade to a room with a view. As beautiful as the hotel is, we were given a room with a view of the parking lot which really put a damper on the ambience. I also thought it was distasteful to leave 2 $6 water bottles in the room. At this price point, they can't offer free water for your guests?

Premium Pricing; Average Experience
Maybe expectations are too high but for $400 to $500 a night, property is old, rooms are average, and service is so so. Perhaps it's Santa Barbara in general, but I would not come back to this property. Traveled for a quick 24-hour anniversary getaway. Wife was not happy with the room. Place has a mission feel to it - perhaps it was converted to a hotel. Rooms, as mentioned, are very sterile and basic. Ocean view faced noisy street. Pool is old. Jacuzzi as well. Charming in some respects, but it's simply not worth the price for such an average quality stay.

Great Location, Beautiful Hotel, but Several Unnecessary Issues
We stayed at Mar Monte Hotel in the first week of February 2025. The hotel is in an excellent location, right across from the beach with easy access to downtown Santa Barbara. The décor throughout the hotel is stylish and inviting. Our room featured a beautiful ocean view, was spacious, and had two comfortable queen beds along with a desk. The bathroom was large and included a walk-in shower and a free-standing bathtub. However, the shower design was problematic—water splashed onto the bathroom floor, particularly around the toilet area, creating a slip hazard. We had to use multiple towels to soak it up, which was inconvenient. Additionally, the bathtub began filling with water from the shower, and we were unable to release the tub stopper, making the situation even more frustrating. For dining, we had dinner at Costa Kitchen & Bar. The restaurant had a modern and stylish ambiance, and the staff was friendly. However, our server was slow and forgot our drinks - she brought them with our reminder. Upon being seated, we were offered a complimentary appetizer by a staff member (possibly the hostess or manager), but she never deducted it from our bill, which was disappointing. Breakfast service was much better—the server was more attentive as he brought everything ordered in a timely manner. One major downside was the extremely loud music from a special event across the street on Saturday night. We think this venue is part of the hotel. The heavy bass carried on late into the night, significantly disrupting our sleep. Additionally, the front desk staff member was not very helpful when we asked for site-seeing recommendations, which was surprising that she was not knowledgeable and was vague. Valet parking was also very expensive, but the garage did seem secure. Most of the valet staff were not overly friendly. Overall, we loved the location and ambiance, but the service issues, bathroom design flaws, and excessive noise left us uncertain about whether we would stay again or recommend this hotel. With some improvements, it could be a fantastic stay, but as of now, we have mixed feelings.
