Feb 14, 2025The Best Hotel in Universal Orlando
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this Hotel in the last two weeks of January. Thanks to Felix who was very polite and courteous we had a fantastic room in the West Wing on the fifth floor overlooking the Bay. The room was close to the water Taxi and the pools. We regularly stay at this hotel and hope to return soon. Love from the UK.

Happy with our choice
I was a bit concerned prior to our arrival after reading some of the bad reviews and wanted to share our experience so far. Check-in with Megan was very friendly and efficient. She provided all the info we needed and made sure to give me helpful tips (like running to the Universal will call window asap because it was about to close). Our room is clean and comfortable with a great view of the garden and pool. The staff at the beach pool and bar were all very professional and courteous tonight. Very pleased with our choice. We were cautioned before booking (and notified during check-in) of the ongoing construction. It must be in a different area of the resort because our wing is very orderly and quiet.

An amazing scenic resort
A beautiful and scenic resort. We had to explore to discover the beach pool area. A great place to relax after the parks with plush lounge chairs, kids movie playing on the big screen and 2 hot tubs. The one behind the water slide and grotto was empty as it’s a little hidden. Also a bar area with food was present. Our room was in the main building with a water view. Each night at 6 there was live music for about an hour. This evening was music from Phantom of the Opera. The room was spacious with a separate toilet area and large bathroom. The water pressure and temperature were a little weak. The shower was mounted and had a step for shaving which was awesome. The pillows were a bit bulky for us. I hope to check out the fitness center in the morning. This resort has plenty of food & shopping options. We purchased the club rooms which included breakfast, a light day snack, light dinner and late night sweet. Also beverages were available and there was a happy hour. We took the boat to the park daily.

Excellent Stay
We had a wonderful stay at Portofino Bay. I highly recommend this property for your Universal vacation! Transportation - we used a private transportation company and paid $150 round trip. Our driver stopped at Wal-Mart so we could pick up supplies. Supplies - we picked up water, pop, snacks and small food items to have in the room. This was awesome for fast, easy and healthy breakfasts in the morning. Check -in - we arrived around 6pm and there was no wait to check-in. The front desk staff was fast and efficient. If you have a lot of items, you will need to use the bellhop service to get all your things to your room. You can ask to see the room key designs! Room - we had a room overlooking the beach pool. It was a two queen, standard room. There is lots of room and it was clean. Water Taxi - the water Taxi leaves from outside the West Wing. The taxis come every 10ish minutes. The trip is quick to City Walk. On the way back each night, there was a bit of a wait. We never walked the path because we averaged 10 miles a day at the park and no one wanted to walk another mile when we were tired and hungry. Bus - we only took the bus to Volcano Bay. The busses all pick up outside the front of the property. Pool - we loved the beach pool. We had great service, drinks and food while enjoying the beautiful weather. There are movies at night, a DJ during the day, chair towels and regular towels, sunscreen, a slide, two hot tubs, and tons of lifeguards. We did check out the Villa Pool. It was closed the day we went and it was definitely not for families. Universal tickets - you pick up your tickets from a separate counter after check-in. They were super friendly and helpful. Express pass - your hotel key is your express pass and you use it as a credit card throughout Universal and City Walk. We bought lanyards online to carry our ticket and room key. Food - we ate at Sal's one night. The food was good. We ate at Panda Express in City Walk, the Chocolate Emporium, and The Leaky Cauldron inside the parks. We shared meals. In all, this was a great trip and we loved our stay.

Our first Universal Studio Orlando resort experience was awesome! Beautiful property. Portofino Club served very basic, but very good food for breakfast and dinners. Terrific location to many other restaurant options. Room service was decent. What could make Portofino Bay excellent? 1) Valet car parking experience was not great as we had to request our car everytime at the front lobby despite calling Service Hotline beforehand. 2) Towels can be better quality for premium customers. 3) A separate bath and shower would be nice for suite guests. In any case, a wonderful stay and holiday. Hope we can be back again one day.
