Location location location
Stayed at LaPlaya for a family wedding. Our Beach House 3rd floor room had a large balcony overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. The king bed was comfy and a sofa bed at the foot offered extra sleeping/sitting. The area carpet around the bed was a bit dated as was the bathroom shower (missing tiles), but overall the room was very nice. The sliding door was heavy and tight and kept the noise from the workers below at a minimum. (The hotel is still recovering from hurricane damage.) Food at the events was very good. We didn't eat outside of them. Location is wonderful and priced accordingly. Heavy resort fees, high costs for in room snacks, drinks add quite a bit to the high room prices. All employees were friendly and helpful. If you want to be right on the beach, this is your spot.

Not worth the price
First of all, I want to state that I am of 100% Asian descent (Korean). I felt so ashamed when one of the workers asked if I spoke English. I didn’t even respond because I was so embarrassed. This is suppose to be a five star hotel. I will give a shout out to the beach attendants and the waitress’s at the tiki bar and pool service. And the loud noise from the weddings until 1 AM is ridiculous. The room was nice but I will never return again.

Truly luxurious hotel with exceptional service attitude towards guests - we will return!
La Playa Beach and Golf Resort is truly a special hotel! It's located right on the beach, which provides a Carribean feel, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Nikolaus was extremely helpful when we had questions about the valet service at check-in. This polite attitude and willingness to serve was reflected throughout our stay. One night, there was only caffeinated tea in our room and the hotel took the effort to locate some non-caffeinated tea with honey and bring it up to our room. Every morning, my 4-year old son would feed the fish with the hotel fish manager. There were no other kids at the hotel participating, but my son enjoyed it and the hotel staff took the extra time to talk with him about the fish and teach him about them. We have stayed at hotels and paid similar money as this one and have not been treated as well. La Playa truly shines, not only in its luxurious accommodations, but importantly in its service attitude towards its guest and it goal to please the guest. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone, and already think we will likely be returning next February. It's a wonderful winter-time escape for any northerns.

Elevators worked!
This was our second stay here for four nights in a premium beachfront king and had mixed opinions. The highlight was the hard working, friendly staff everywhere! Having read about only one elevator in the Tower we were quite relieved that both were in service the day we arrived! We were pleased with our room and especially the view… but found the shower/bath combo a little odd even dangerous. Also shocked that no daily water is supplied in the rooms!? There is still alot of construction at the beach house and around the pool area with noise, dust, temporary restrooms etc. We enjoyed the Baleen breakfast but had to wait a long time for lunch at the Tiki bar. The valets here do incredible given the extremely tight driveway that is used both for the hotel and club members! We met many guests that book here every year…but that would not be our interest given some of the above issues.

Do not stay until CONSTRUCTION IS OVER.
Do not stay here until construction is completed . It is Saturday morning a gorgeous morning & I wake up to extremely loud construction. They do not care still will sell rooms. I did receive an email saying they're under construction. I called to ask them where is my room and do not place me by the construction I'm one floor up from the construction. It is so loud it is stupid.. That was problem number one problem number two housekeeping takes the glasses in the coffee cups and put them in the bathroom sink no soap no nothing just rinse them out and then attempts to put them back in the cabinet. I freak due to Covid and all these sicknesses, you can't sterilize your coffee cups in you're charging a fortune to stay here. It's ridiculous I'm just upset because I specifically called and asked the lady next to me in the next room taking videos of all this construction as well this is horrible
