Overbooked? Mechanical Issue?
I did get a response to my Royal Sonesta New Orleans review. Thanks. But you said you were overbooked. When we tried to book in on our reservation they said there was a mechanical issue. GET YOUR STORY STRAIGHT. BUYER BEWARE. Poor management.

Great Breakfast experience!
Wanda Tapia at Aleli restaurant/ Breakfast has a positive attitude and a friendly demeanor that creates a welcoming atmosphere for the restaurant. Breakfast was a pleasure. She is attentive to the needs of customers, checking on the tables, and ensuring everything is to the guest's liking.

A Restful Yet Fun Time
We had a great time and would certainly return. The hotel was just the right size for us and our room was quiet and extremely clean. There were chairs around the pool, although at certain periods of the day they were more difficult to access a seat. We did, however, discover that the chairs on the beach were better for us because of the ocean breeze and the two kind gentlemen who brought out chairs if none were available and put up umbrellas for any chairs. There was, periodically, someone to take orders. The food was very good and the drinks as well. We ate many of our meals at the hotel because of the quality. Our favorite part of the experience was the excellent workers. As we sat out each evening at Karaya for drinks and tapas, Joel was our terrific server, polite, always attentive, and delightful. At breakfast in the Aleli Restaurant, our server was often Adrianna (sp.?) who was amazing with her memory, her humor, her speed, and her ability to chase birds away. Hilton was the gentleman who kept our room spotless, treated us to a variety of towel animals, greeted us in the hall with kind words each day. There were many other excellent workers, but these three were ones we met with on a daily basis. A tiny suggestion for the hotel is to give guests a little information about the restaurant times, how to access towels (The towel machine is down the stairs, to the right of a little booth, and to open the towel machine, one must use the yellow wristband.).

Perfect !
This is a beautiful, new, spacious property. The rooms are large, modern and spotless. The pool area is expansive and the beach access right is off it. Beach is perfection . The staff is friendly and helpful. I’d definitely recommend this hotel and would come again.

Security nightmare, rude staff, and marijuana
I like that it’s a beachfront property. The rooms look nice and the bed is comfortable. Could use more than 2 pillows per bed, though because they were flat. The staff saw us struggling with our bags upon arrival and departure, and refused to even open the door for us. Staff made eye contact with me and still didn’t open the door. I had multiple pieces of luggage. So rude of them. A 4 star hotel should have a staff member out front designated to assisting guests. The yellow bracelet was difficult to secure and mine didn’t work to open my door, just my actual room key worked. And I never had to scan anything to go up the elevator- that’s total security theatre. My friend was harassed multiple times by staff to see her wristband when it was clearly visible on her wrist. Again, just so rude and I never saw it happen to anyone else. Housekeeping starts early and they are very loud. They also keep their carts in the middle of the hallway (the picture attached is after I asked her to move it so I could get my luggage by). Very rude people. Inside the room, you can hear everything outside and in adjacent rooms. Incredibly loud. The door to the room is very heavy as well and doesn’t shut on its own. You have to push it closed, which takes a decent amount of effort. I feel like this is a security issue. The property claims to be a smoke free property, but I smelled cigarette smoke and marijuana almost constantly. It’s clearly not something that is enforced, so if you have allergies, beware. I also didn’t feel safe when I crossed the street. This is not an upscale location, no matter what the internet claims.
