Sadly, I cannot recommend Iberostar Waves Punta Cana

Sorry to say, we did not have a good experience. We have been to Iberstar in Cozemel, Rivera Maya and Cancun. We had a good time at all of these locations. Waves Punta Cana is not worth booking. I have limited spanish, but out of our 10 vacations/cruises to the carribean I always manage to communicate and found a way to get my question answered. Another review mentioned the staffs rudeness. That is an understatement. If you don't speak Spanish fluently they actually look you in the eye, nod, turn around and walk off never to be seen again. Or when you try to order a drink at the bar, they will look past you and help several other people before acknowledging you. They really are disgusted if you are not fluent in spanish. The pools were dirty and cloudy. The food was not as good as drive through. On the plus side, the spa was wonderful and services were very good. BTW, even though it is an all exclusive establishment we tip. Even that did not get a response. So sad.

    Ibero No Star

Rooms - Older than me. Limited outlets No USB / Charging ports. I think the furnishings are from my grandmother's basement. No water pressure in the showers. Food - You'll be eating every meal at the buffet because they block out the reservations for Star Prestige members and also use the restaurants as an incentive to get you to sign for the Star Program. So, you can leave that collar shirt at home you won't need it The Buffet - Not good. Food is the same every day, but that's what you get as the restaurants are blocked out. Concierge = salesperson. Avoid at all costs. They will try to set up an appt for your second day, which is the first thing I want to do when I'm on vacation to offer you discounts etc. Which you might get if you sign up for the program. We ducked the first sales pitch, so they held us up at checkout to try and sell us again. The staff, for the most part are courteous and friendly. The guests however were some of the rudest people ever (jumping lines, saving the beach chairs etc.) . The beach is very nice, however, they block sections off (with nicer furnishings etc) , for the Star program. There are clearly 2 levels of service - Plain Old Guest and Star Prestige guests. I think the majority of the positive reviews are from the Star Prestige members, It seems that you will get closer to a 4-star treatment if you're in the club. If you're just the average guest you're looking at a maybe 3-star resort .

    Stay Iberostar!

I was only at Iberostar for a short time, but I wish it could have been longer. It was an amazing property, with really cool and vibrant buildings. I ate at the buffet, which was great. One of the only places were I saw allergy markings on the food tags, incredibly helpful for me. The pools were amazing and so was the beach. There were tons of water sports available, only wish I had stayed to try them. Also they have a amazing coral lab that you can go and see. They are doing amazing things for sustainability there. Overall, loved the experience and the property.

Great day at Iberostar, love the coral lab

I had an amazing time at Iberostar when I was there last week on a day pass. The food and drinks were great and I had an amazing time on their beautiful beach. I especially loved getting to spend some time in the coral lab with Greg. He was super informative and I loved hearing the steps Iberostar is taking for sustainability. Overall I had an amazing day!

Love the Iberostar through the Day Pass

Iberostar was a great all-inclusive property that catered to everybody's wants! Staying as a guest with a Day Pass allowed us access to the pools, beach, and food, all combined for a great day. We opted for the buffet for lunch and dinner, which both had a wide and unique menu. The options changed for both services, too, which was very pleasant. Additionally, having access to the pool, beach, and activities like non-motorized water sports and ping-pong never left a moment of the day boring. Highly recommend!
