great experience!
I can really recommend the hotel. Great food, pools and room service. But the best about the hotel was the animation team. especially ahtziry was fantastic, she was always laughing and super nice all the time. Within a short time she was already like a friend to me. absolutely loved it!

Fantastic Hotel w/dive shop!
Fantastic all-inclusive with wonderful food (don’t miss Japanese specialty restaurant). Great sandy beach and beach grill with fresh tacos and burgers was delicious! swim up bars, pools, and Dressel Divers dive shop/parasailing on site—did 4 days of scuba diving with lazy days by pool in between. with both quiet pools and pools with games and bubble foam parties, there’s something for everyone! Highly recommend!

Another outstanding stay!
This was our 3rd time in the last 6 years staying at the Playa Paraiso, this time at the Paraiso Beach hotel. As expected, it was excellent once again. We had 2 families, one with kids 6 and 9, the other with kids 13 and 15. Everyone had a blast, tons of activities if the pool and beach are not enough. Our kids didn't do the kids club this time, but they have a huge clubhouse for ages 4-17 (4-6; 7-12, 13-17) which they liked last time. The food was better than I remembered, the French and Smokehouse top the list and recommend the lobster upgrade when ever offered. The restaurants were super accommodating, often bringing more of things when asked or substituting things to help picky kids. The buffets are great, omelet station for breakfast was a group favorite. Some notes/tips...bring your own floaties, they are $25+ at the hotel. Bring plenty of your own sunscreen, lotion, and Neosporin $20-$40 per bottle/tube if you need it. There's a water park ($15 per kid) but to go on the big slides need to be 48" and they enforce it hard. My 6 year old was not happy when they told us we couldn't go on again! All in all this entire complex is outstanding (Mar, Beach, Lindo, Maya, Grand) and Iberostar is generally now the only chain we go with for all-inclusive trips. The staff are outgoing, friendly, and always looking to make your stay enjoyable. Looking forward to the next one!

AC for only 5 minutes at a time
Motion sensor in room turns off lights and air conditioning after roughly 5 minutes. You can’t relax in room as you need to get up and move every few minutes if you want light and air conditioning. Just got here today already frustrated. It’s going to get very hot at night if the air conditioning won’t stay on. Will never come back to an iberstar property again.

Iberostar Playa Paraiso is a beautiful complex of tired resorts with noticeable differences in service and amenities
I must preface this by disclosing I stayed at the Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo the year before so my review is inevitably skewed a little from that experience. I'll also note that our previous stay at the Lindo was as a very large group of three families with children so taking advantage of the waterpark was a big determinant in choosing that resort. This time, my wife and I were traveling alone and didn't feel the waterpark at the Lindo was necessary, wrongfully perhaps, assuming all else was equal more or less. First off, the Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach resort is beautiful and the staff are absolutely amazing! The reason for the 3 Star rating was because the concierge were relentless in their attempt to have us attend the "breakfast" where they try to sell you memberships to their resorts. We politely declined upon arrival but we're hounded daily for the entirety of our visit. I think we were approached over a dozen times during our 7 night stay. On our 4th day we were asked 5 TIMES in various locations including the lobby, the buffet and the beach! After that experience it put a damper on things, politely declining was becoming more difficult and we actually started to avoid the lobby area as much as possible. The reason I note this and why it had such a significant impact on my rating is because in 2023 during our stay at the Lindo (right next door), we were not asked a single time to attend the "breakfast" or hear a single sales pitch from anyone. It became clear that the Beach/Del Mar, being the entry-level tier for this five resort complex was the sales pitch grounds while people in the upper tiers were left to enjoy their vacations. There were two other differences I noticed from our previous stay at the Lindo; there was a significant shortage of loungers at both the pool and beach. We managed to find loungers at the pool twice and at the beach once during the entirety of our stay. Previously at the Lindo, we never had an issue finding a lounger at either the pool or the beach. Also, we noticed a significant difference in the drinks between the two resorts. Not sure how to describe it, but the drink selection and taste was definitely different, somehow slightly less enjoyable this time around at the Beach resort. In all, we had a great time at a beautiful resort and would absolutely recommend the Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach / Del Mar to any first time or repeat guest to either of these resorts. Hopefully this review doesn't dissuade anyone from booking their vacation of a lifetime. However, if you've already previously stayed at the upper tier Lindo, Maya or Joia resorts then you will notice a stark decline in some services and amenities. Had I known the difference between the tiers would be so pronounced, I would have paid the, in hindsight minimal, additional amount to stay at a higher tier even if I didn't need or want to use the waterpark.
