Rude and not worth the upgrade

We had a great relaxing experience at this new hotel. We knew it was not oceanfront but the appeal of a private ocean club reeled us in. Well... the private club is small and right next door to construction. You cannot swim at the club due to huge rocks everywhere in the ocean. I am talking boulders. You need to walk about 100 yards to the public beach to get in the water so why bother. Overall the place was nice but our vacation was ruined on night 6. When we arrived, we upgraded to Vantage Club. Waste of money!!! Your privileges are a unheated rooftop pool, a la cart breakfast and one premium bar. The breakfast was awful and service was lacking. The pool was freezing as they did not install a heater on the rooftop and finally, you can only get premium liquor at the vantage bar in the lobby. So if you are at the pool, you need to dry off and go inside to get your preferred brand of cocktail. the pool bars have a limited selection. Back to night 6...my wife and I decided to have a cocktail before dinner at the Vantage bar. I ordered our drinks (we prefer Tito's Vodka and they consider that premium even though its one of the least expensive in the states). I was told they ran out. I then asked for Belvedere. Again, sold out. The gentlemen next to me at the bar said, "no you didn't, you just poured me one!" The bartender said no we are out!! Then from behind the bar another bartender told me to wait 5 minutes and he will get more. As I waited the original bartender decided to make my drinks anyway with some other vodka. I told him, I did not want them. As I sat waiting, I noticed the bartender quietly put the bottle of Belvedere back on the shelf. I pointed and he made me my drinks. Suddenly as we are seated and drinking our cocktails, the other bartender storms back and slams a bottle of Tito's on the bar and looks at me as to say, "Here is your F...ing bottle Tito's! It is safe to say that this New Yorker lost his mind and caused a scene of epic proportions since not only did I upgrade, I also joined Hyatt's Unlimited Vacation Club so I was pissed. The managers tried their best to settle the situation down but the bartender was left to serve the most premiere guests at the bar. He did not apologize nor seem phased by it. The hotel decided to give me "points" as a token and a private bottle of Tito's at diner as if my wife and I are alcoholics and polish off an entire bottle of vodka .

    Lovely Resort.

The Hyatt Vivid Grant Island was a great resort. I went with 4 friends, but my husband and I will be back January 2026 for our anniversary. We did not realize the resort was not beach front, but the transportation is very convenient and the beach club is awesome. The service in the restaurants, bars and at the pools was great. The fitness center is beautiful - modern machines.

    NOT WORTH IT

I’ve never experienced a hotel so unpleasantly loud in my life. I can’t wait to leave to have some peace and quiet. We chose this hotel especially because it was away from the strip. We knew cancun was lively and we wanted something a little more peaceful but with the option to go to the strip. So this hotel was perfect for us. And also most adults only hotels aim towards a relaxing experience, this isn’t the case. Positives: Great design and decor, looks cool. Amazing staff especially Maria (buffet) Food is nice and varied. Clean. Amazing showers Negatives: Not sure where to start. Fundamentally the hotel lacks its identity and is still under construction physically and idealistically The positives above also always come with a BUT….. The room design is amazing but because of it lacks basics. There’s the strongest smell of the kitchen that comes through the air vents in the toilet and shower. In fact there’s strange smells in many parts of this hotel. Including the lobby area. That smelt really bad most days. The rooms are echoing and loud and lack sound proofing, you can hear everything. I’ve had to endure 2 arguments from the neighbours, drunk people on the corridors most nights, and you can hear everything through the doors even basic level conversations. The terrace doors in both our rooms didn’t close properly and whistled. Never once had a lie in because of cleaning noises or bangs on the wall from the cleaners closing draws or neighbours packing. One of the loudest hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in. The aircon is super loud if you put it above the minimum fan speed. I’m super light sensitive when I sleep and it has to be dark. The rooms are awful for that. The curtains let in so much light around the borders. The pointless wine fridge has the brightest blue LED screen that won’t turn off so have to remeber to cover it every night. And the LED-up lights still stay on low when the lights have been switched off. The fire alarms emit a super bright laser light every 5 seconds that lights up the whole room for a mili second. Also there ls ZERO lights on the balcony…. So you can’t enjoy the peace and quiet on the balcony or play cards at night because you can’t see anything, and the lights inside the room are at the opposite end of the room. It’s still to dark with them all on. That’s a bad design flaw. I’ve never stayed anywhere where I can’t enjoy the balcony. The noise complaints continue with the whole hotel. It’s the loudest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. You can’t get peace and quiet anywhere or even just a nice quiet corner where the noise levels are acceptable or they play a nice calmer music.….. at the downstairs pool you can’t even hear yourself think because of the awful ONE speaker system that blasts the most awful dance music out. Now and again you’ll get some nice chilled pool music but generally it’s awful dance music. Trying to escape the ONE supersonic loud speaker doesn’t help as the noise just bounces off the building to all sunbeds even the back ones on the upper deck. You can hear the bass of that ONE speaker in the room and I’m on the golf side of the building. It’s the same in the lobby on an evening, the awfully loud one speaker. Please invest in a better system where you have multiple speakers so everyone has a decent level of sound and get rid of that awful speaker. The outside green ambient speakers at the upper decks actually play good music, but is drowned out by the one speaker playing a diffrent music, which then just gives you a headache as they’re playing two diffrent types of music. I can’t believe no one has spotted this and turned one off. There is honestly no where to relax and read a book and have nice background music. It’s just loud or even louder in all parts of the hotel at all times until 1am. I’ve never experienced a hotel so unpleasantly loud in my life. Beach club: same again one speaker set up playing the loudest music ever. It’s escapable by going to the bottom beds near the sea but then you’re just met with the building construction noise next door, 50 meters above your head. And that was loud both days I went. There was one day I got a pool bed away from the loud music at the main pools near the toilets. To then be met with more construction noise as they started drilling the stairs of the new “sister hotel” next door. Another day further back at the decking to be met with sanding of the decking that lasted all day. ( this continued everyday day and night) maintenance that should be done in the hotels down times. The back decking, sways when anyone walks past. Make sure you don’t suffer from motion sickness and I got bit by so many midges/mosquitos as you’re so close to the swamp/lagoon water. Smoking Area: that’s really not fair. I get the law but the site says “areas” plural, you have multiple sites where smokers wouldn’t cause a problem to other guests. There needs to be more. I asked about this before booking and they told me multiple areas. I also asked if the construction was finished before booking and was reassured it was far enough away it wouldn’t impact my stay. It’s obvious that they’re drowning out the sound of the construction at both the hotel and the beach club with the music. But for me neither was acceptable. THERE IS A LOT OF CONSTRUCTION, just depends where you are and how lucky you are if it’s going to be loud or not! The “sister hotel” next door is no where near finished and is only going to get worse. The pools both main one and the upstairs ones, I stubbed my toes/nails in all of them. Big chunks of the plaster has come away leaving big pot holes and uneven floors. And because they’re such shallow pools it’s hard for someone so tall to keep the feet away from the bottom when swimming. The beach club looks amazing but the shuttle service is crazy when you’re going. We tried on two days and gave up and got an uber for 4$. There’s no system to get on the bus so it’s just a free for all when trying to get on. And the bus only takes 19 people a time. Coming back is easier. Conclusion. The hotel is too far away from the strip for the party goers of cancun and not relaxing enough for people that just want to chill. The average age was around 40, people that wanted to relax and groups of party goers. For me I feel I was missold it. I booked on the premises it would be relaxing but the option to go party. It really doesn’t know what it is yet. I think the whole resort when done will be incredible. But it’s a LONG way of being done. I really don’t think this part of the resort should be open to paying guests until the whole thing is finished. You feel you’re just stuck in a Mediocre hotel miles away from anything, no beach and no strip, and it’s not a spa or a relaxing retreat so what’s the point in booking it?

    Top tier experience

We had an amazing time. The staff is incredible and so helpful. They take great care of us and always make sure we have everything we need. They are always in a good mood and genuinely happy to serve us. All the staff were awesome, from the front desk, to the waiters, to the custodial staff. The rooms are beautiful, no complaints at all. They are very clean and the views are stunning. The food was delicious. The ceviche bar was top tier and Jesus and Guadalupe are great. The food truck was very good. The food selection is great and all the restaurants are great. The drinks are very good too. A huge shout out to the entertainment staff, they are awesome and have great energy. They are in a great mood and so much fun. We had a blast with Nef, Cesar, Roje, Lucia and Manuel. They were awesome, dare I say the highlight of our trip. They really managed to keep us entertained and active. All the staff at Hyatt Vivid Grand Island is really caring and attentive to our needs. I would highly recommend this hotel and would go back without any hesitation.
