First time family trip. Meh. Won't go again.

Globalist perspective from short family trip to Grand Hyatt Indian Wells for the first (and I think last) time. Resort facilities are up to date and well maintained. I think they may have done a renovation recently. Globalist upgrade - did not happen. I didn't ask for it, but it wasn't offered. Check in was curt even though the line was non-existent (no one behind me). People smoking in the balcony several rooms away. Smell of Marijuana in the main lobby the first day. Pool - it's nice, just ok. The slide is long but the "fun" isn't there. Comparatively, the shorter slides at the Hyatt's in San Diego and Newport Beach are much better even though they're older. Lazy River is smaller than the video/images suggest. 2-3 times around and then it's just moving water. The surround area of Indian Wells very bland. The area in Palm Springs (near much cheaper Hyatt Palm Springs) is much more lively. Incidentally, the Globalist benefits were better at the cheaper Hyatt Palm Springs - a bit surprised by that. In the end: will not be visiting again because there are better places to go.

    Memorable Spring Break Celebration

We spent Spring Break at the Grand Hyatt Indian Wells celebrating our 19th wedding anniversary with our daughters, and it was another memorable stay. Even with the resort at full capacity for the holiday week, the staff made us feel personally cared for, from warm communication to thoughtful touches in our room. Our daughters especially loved the pools, lazy river, watermelon eating contest, and roasting marshmallows at the fire pit—we spent time at the water area every day, and it never got old! This was our second stay, and our kids now lovingly call it “Better Palm Springs”—a high compliment in our family. We’re grateful for another wonderful stay and look forward to returning.

    Indian Wells Not So Well...

Several issues prevented this stay from being as expected. This was a "Mother/Daughter" outing with me and my 80 yr old mother. I asked for a quiet room with a view. I booked with Amex Platinum so expected to have some kind of extra accommodation, especially considering the advertisement at the check-in counter of their Amex Platinum partnership. The front desk was super friendly and said he would take care of me. He advised he gave me a quiet room overseeing the golf course. Instead what I got was a room overseeing a large parking lot next to the Convention Center and the parking "barrier" that lets cars in and out. This resulted in all night traffic (cars, delivery trucks and people) coming and going; not to mention, the very large and loud HVAC units for the Convention Center ran all night. So leaving the balcony door open to enjoy fresh air was not feasible and sleeping in was not a possibility given the early morning delivery trucks. I am not sure why the front desk representative felt this was an "upgrade" or an ideal room. It was far from that. To deviate from less than ideal room situation, I thought I would book a cabana at the Adult pool for my Mom and me, hoping that I could work poolside while my Mom enjoyed a serene/relaxing (QUIET) day. Yeah, not so much because we were not told at any time nor did any of the "activities" being promoted indicate that a DJ would be playing all day to celebrate Stagecoach. Additionally, I paid $16 a drink (2 of which I had to send back) because they were horrible. Even the bartender apologized for the use of "boxed/premade" fake tasting mixers and cheap alcohol. I did ask that the music be turned down a bit, to no avail. The manager did stop by our cabana, but offered no real solution except to say "it's Stagecoach". So I ended up walking to different spots of the resort to take calls and had to put air pods on noise cancelling mode for my Mom. She wasn't going to complain, but it was less than the experience I promised her for the day. Lastly, there was one point when the water in our room completely shut off. There was not any notification from staff, courtesy phone call, nothing to apprise guests of the issue. So suddenly, we had no ability to flush, shower or use the faucet. This required we fill our water bottles to brush our teeth and find other public bathrooms in the resort when we had to absolutely go. It was eventually fixed, without any notification/apology from the hotel management. I have stayed at many resorts. I expect issues to arise and am pretty flexible and understanding when there are unforeseen circumstances. However, there wasn't any consideration given to situational awareness. Spending the day at an adult pool with music blaring, not fun for an 80 year old woman. If I had known ahead of time that a DJ would be there through notifications, activity flyers, "head's up" when I booked, I would have definitely reconsidered. $300+ for the cabana plus $100+ for food and drinks (that I never drank) - so not worth it. $500+/night to listen to cars, semis, late night partiers, and HVAC units - so not worth it. The only relaxing day, my last day walking the resort grounds at 7:00 a.m. when it was still quiet.

INCREDIBLE Spring Break Trip in a Villa on Property!

We stayed in a beautiful presidential 2 bedroom villa with friends over Spring Break. The renovated villas are BEAUTIFUL! We had the most incredible stay and we could not have had a better time. Every little detail was perfect. We had several friends across various rooms and suites and they were all talking about when we can go again. Everything was perfect from the room, housekeeping, bellhops, the staff at the pool, restaurants, etc. We loved getting a game of pickleball in which was so fun on site! Every single person we interacted with was incredible. Just on our walks to the pool, the maintenance staff stops and lets us pass and asks us how are stay has been. You can feel the warmth from the top down and from the bottom up. Our kids recognized it and had the very best time on their Spring Break. We were in town the week between the two Coachella weekends and it was Spring Break for much of the LA schools so it was an incredibly busy time for the hotel and it didn’t show on property at all. The staff was wonderful and the hospitality was tremendous. We loved that we prebooked daybeds at the pool each day so we didnt have to worry about pool chairs. The kids loved the lazy river and water slides. SO much to do for the kids but still relaxing for the parents. Cocktails poolside were great as was the food.
