Great hotel
A great hotel in a fabulous location close to Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf. Helpful reception staff. Rooms were very clean with lots of space and a huge bed! The buffet breakfast was amazing too. Couldn’t fault anything and would definitely go there again

Nicest staff - Super convenient
From the front desk to the breakfast buffet staff to the house keeping crew, these were some of best employees I’ve encountered in a very long time! Accommodations were just great and the Breakfast Buffet…just like being in a mini cruise!

Crap customer relations
No empathy towards trying to move the reservation back one day due to a canceled flight. Customer service fob offs, "we are full" rooms still available online, "call your third party" , they tell me it's at the discretion of the hotel. Small minded thinking considering I would have probably spent more money with them at their facilities. So much for hospitality!

Great location
Loved the location. Buffet breakfast was excellent and even though it was busy getting seated was quick and efficient. The only complaint would be that the rooms have no sound proofing. Was woken up each morning at 4:30 am from the people upstairs banging or running on the floor. Noise in the hallways was loud too. The doors do nothing to block out the sound.

Great hotel to stay when visiting San Francisco
The Riu is a couple of blocks back from Pier 39 and all the wharfs along Embarcadero in one direction and in the other a 10 minute walk to all the restaurants in Little Italy with Chinatown a couple of minutes further on. The hotel was very spacious and a great breakfast, very efficiently done especially when there's a lot of people staying. The room on the top floor was large, although this made the bathroom a little cramped. Very helpful staff throughout the hotel. It's also a couple of minutes walk from Jefferson, where you can pick up the Hop on Hop off bus and the bus station to get all across the city. Will come back.
