It’s actually a very nice hotel
I was concerned after reading some of the recent reviews but can honestly say we had a great time. We usually stay at HGV properties but was booked. Sure the hotel could use a few updates (mainly new carpet in the hallways and paint/scuff mark/wear & tear kind of things). But our ocean-front room was clean, very quiet and spacious. (We stayed in the hotel not the villas) The food was excellent. Many spots to enjoy the pool and spectacular views. A quick walk across the lawn and you’re on the beach. And above all - a VERY friendly and helpful staff. Team couldn’t be more kind and resourceful from front desk to servers to the especially kind housekeeping staff. Our housekeeper was Nita and she greeted us each day with a sweet Aloha and helped with each request. We never had an issue with parking in the lot, but it did fill up in the evening. We were busy and didn’t book the onsite Fire Show. Ukulele and lei making classes looked popular. Restaurants onsite. Great central location with MANY nearby restaurants. Tip the rooms don’t have lanais but if you stay on the main floor you do have sliding glass doors and two patio chairs. We preferred to be up for a better view. We are picky so I wouldn’t give a positive review if it wasn’t true!

A good stay
I was a little apprehensive to book this hotel because some of the reviews but I genuinely had a good stay here. I was put in a cottage and really liked being able to walk out through the park and onto the beach. Like any hotel, I checked for any bugs and didn’t see anything. There was one dead bug I saw on the floor as I was leaving but that’s just because Kaua’i is a tropical island. I don’t blame the hotel for that. It shows that they really try to make the experience special here and that’s something I really appreciated. I can’t speak for the hotel rooms but the cottages are worth it. The reason it’s not 5/5 is because it’s a little dated. Like it could use some updates here and there but nothing substantial that made my stay any less enjoyable. Also for those saying they’re scamming with the resort fee, that is something so normal. I think I’ve always paid some sort of fee at check in. I had a really nice experience.

substandard for a HIlton Garden Inn at these rates.
Hilton Gold Member that has stayed at multiple Hilton Garden Inns (including Waikiki). Stayed in a King Bed Ocean view in January, 2025. unfortunately, this Hilton Garden Inn falls below the standard of the brand and I don't feel is worth the pricing or resort fees that they charge. Desperately needs renovation. Other reviews complain about the insect issues, which is fairly common for Hawaiian hotels so not surprising or a big deal. The bathroom, console, and bed side tables had small insect/ants. The large mini-fridge and microwave are a nice feature (and where kept food to avoid the insects). The view from the room facing (the park mostly) and the ocean a little bit. the lobby was nice and appreciate the complimentary coffee. The cleaning crew were ever present and did a good job of keeping this aging location clean. The bed was fine, shower was small. Here are the reasons why this fell below the standard of a HIlton Garden Inn: (1) there was no safe in the room. this is an odd choice by Hilton management; (2) the air conditioning could never go below 70 degrees. The room was always warm, and you can tell that they intentionally set up the system this way. If you run warm, and you need a cold sleep, this is not the place for you.; (3) their self-serve market machine didn't work, it would not accept the room details and there were items that did not have skus.; (4) For whatever reason, hilton credits kept dropping off the account, including on the final tab. Staff should not have to be reminded 4 times that you are overcharged. Keep a sharp eye on your bill at this location; (5) parking fee. Why? This seems to be new in 2024 as you can see other reviewers omit it.; (6) The resort fees are obnxious for the pool, which looks like a 1970's apartment complex pool. Stayed at another resort during this rainy period and people were always in the water despite the weather. During my stay, there was not one person ever in the pool. The manager here should be embarrassed for charging the exorbitant resort fee for the amenities. Good location on East Side, which is a good point to go both North and South. Lydgate beach in walking distance is great (and had ample parking). The exit to the main road can be intimidating to nervous drivers, especially with construction everywhere in January, 2025. Overall, agree with another reviewer: this is a (nice) motel but substandard for Hilton Garden Inn. Will not stay at this Hilton hotel again for these prices or without renovation.

Hotel more like motel
How is this a Hilton stay? I’m confused. The staff were not warm or welcoming. The halls and rooms were dark and MUSTY (I’m not joking it felt like a bad sauna). The bedding was rough and not comforting (sandpaper like). And the night before we leave we have to spend three hours doing our laundry because the washing machines provided by Hilton would fill up with water and not wash (it did this several times). The dryer was very poor and it took well over an hour for our clothes to become damp enough to hang. On top of all this the resort fees and parking make this place overpriced and expensive for a bad motel stay with a fancy name.

Pool and Hot Tub were Cold!!!
Do not stay at this property unless you like a cold pool and hot tub! We booked a day use room at this hotel on our last day in Kauai. We booked it primarily to use the pool and hot tub. Both were cold!!! We let the front desk know and they notified maintenance who informed us it would be fixed within 30 minutes. We checked back periodically throughout the day and the hot tub was never heated. I do not think a hotel should offer day use rooms if their pool services are not good quality, including a heated pool and hot tub. Very disappointing!
