This will be a mixed review. I’ve been a member of Royal Holiday Vacation Club since 2010 and have had great experiences at this hotel even before it was designated a “Grand Park Royal”, (an apparent upgrade from just a “Park Royal”). In the last two trips I have had to this location it has not been what I’d call a “grand” experience. In fact, their policies for members has become very discriminatory. They have so many levels of all-inclusive bands and each gives members a different level of access. This was not the case before. All members received the best perks of membership. Since I purchased 15 years ago, I am no longer valued as a member in the same way as newer members are valued. This was explained to me because of the “investment” these new members have made in the club is much more than I paid. Hmmmmm…. Anyone heard of inflation? I must clarify, that the discrimination I have experienced is a “first-world” problem and I recognize that aspect fully. In boils down to the fact that we seem to no longer be able to access rooms with ocean views, updated furnishings, and larger terraces at this resort. Also, there are member perks no longer available to us such as reserved seating at restaurants and poolside day beds. I present this information as a warning to anyone considering joining this club to understand that unless you are investing enough in this club to be a at a Platinum or Black Band level (new levels), you won’t have the same experience as these members. This has only been at issue at the Grand Park Royal Grand Cozumel. We’ve had outstanding members privileges at the Grand Park Royal Grand in Cancun and Puerto Vallarta that did not depend on the color of our band. We had a dedicated “mayordomo” that checked in with us daily, made reservations for us at restaurants, and reserved pool-side and beachside day beds for our use. Additionally, their other Park Royal resorts have offered spectacular benefits (Ixtapa and Huatulco). While these latter two resorts do not have daybeds, the Royal Holiday representatives went out of their way to ensure we had the most comfortable stay. Now for the best parts—- If you are visiting Cozumel, the Grand Park Royal is a great choice. The staff really make this place “grand”, including the hard-working housekeeping staff, maintenance (constantly cleaning every surface), the chefs and waitstaff, bell hops (shout out to Mario), bartenders (shout out to Carlos). These staff were always “grand” before the official designation by Royal Holiday. The food is outstanding, including the buffet. The “El Pescador” restaurant with a la carte service for lunch is a must. The Mexican Restaurant is so good (ask for spicy salsas, the chefs are eager to kick it up a notch). The Italian Restaurant is highly sought after by guests, however, I would say the Mexican Restaurant offers the tastiest fare. The location is great. Not too far south on the island, so trip from the airport is short. The cruise ship pier is adjacent to the resort, so seeing these behemoths coming and going is a beautiful view (if you get a room above floor 5). For scuba divers, you can often arrange for your pick-up at the resort’s pier (so convenient). If you love snorkeling, you have a “private beach” at the resort’s pier and the option to cross the street and go to Tikila’s Bar and step into a spectacular snorkeling spot. Tips— ask for a room above floor 5 and on the south side of the building. The north side is near the lobby and lobby bar and can be loud later into the evening. Don’t attend the Royal Holiday Club presentation at this location. The club is great, but you’ll want your home club location to be one of their other resorts unless you have $50K+ to invest upon your initial enrollment.

For the money, things were fine. And location is great.
The spa was awesome. Not having the elevator working was disappointing and challenging with my husband's mobility issues.

Fantastic Staff
We had a room snafu (bad maintenance) which was promptly dealt with by moving us to another more suitable room. The cleanliness of the resort and the friendliness of the staff was top notch. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same for the quality of the food other than in the specialty Italian restaurant and the guacamole. Top shelf alcohol was not available and there were limited beer choices. The pools and small beach were good; however, the constant daily view of cruise ships was unwelcome. If you are looking for a cheap place to stay and don’t mind a cruise ship in your view it’s an ok place to stay.

The worst food I’ve ever had in Mexico
The pools were freezing cold. Everything shut down around 10 o’clock didn’t have bottled water. definitely would not recommend this hotel or anyone also, we did see some cockroaches outside. We didn’t see him in the room, but there were some outside.

Great vacation, with a cool rainy start
We arrived Thursday 23 Jan 2025 (leaving 30 Jan) 71 degrees F raining (for 3 days) Weather did improve A vacation is what you make it, so make it great!!! I’m going to focus my review on only the resort. Minus: Cobble paths - very lumpy Room was double beds, not king (if you want a king; ask for a king at check-in) Rain shower head was busted due to too much water pressure Tower #1000 - one side faces the top of a utility building and/or street A lot of stairs Specialty restaurants are inconsistent with quality Everyone is trying to sell you something - polite “no, Thankyou” usually works Water from filtered water stations has a strange taste. (Single use bottled water not available at resort- can be purchased offsite) Resort could use more chairs for the after dinner area Plus: Staff smile a lot and you get a nod or greeting from almost everyone. Great Water pressure Lots of very Hot water!!! Drying line in the shower Daily room cleaning, bed making & mini fridge restocking Quiet air conditioner Lounge chairs are very good (look new) Lots of loungers, but not always in the area you want Adults only area! Lounge chair service (used service in adults only area and main pool area- unknown if it’s available elsewhere on resort) Jungle like gardens Good food (if you are not fussy) Town resort - walking to shopping -40 minute walk to downtown or $10 cab ride each way) Lots of excursion operators, taxi and rentals very close Resort wide internet 3 very separated pools, with different atmospheres People: Brias- the hostess with the mostess! Her smile made my day! Pedro & Justice - concierge- explained the resort (maps) and possible excursions without a lot of pressure. Also, a quick “everything is good?” When we saw them throughout the days. Gil, Jesus, Jesus, all the bartenders & lounge servers at the adults only pool!!! You guys are great! Francisco -WestJet rep- clear quick, informative without aggressive sales
