    Nice Hotel ignoring breakfast value

Very nice hotel, and convenient to the slopes through the dedicated lift. It is a great home base and makes skiing easy with the built in rental facility, and the extra services for keeping skis and warming our boots at night. If you are not a hyatt globalist, the breakfast is a scandal. It's weird because bar and restaurant prices are kind of normal for lunch and dinner, but the breakfast buffet is lackluster and it is over $50/person, and that doesn't include eggs to order.

Good stay, but there could be improvements.

The hotel is beautiful and we loved that Venture Sports is on property to rent skis and boots and that there is a chairlift right outside. It is important to note that you need to be a decent skier to fully take advantage of ski-in/ ski-out access due to needing to take a blue run in to the hotel. It is a little far from the main part of the mountain so you need to add some extra time to ski over to get to the main runs. Also, it is located away from Vail Village. They do a great job providing a shuttle bus to get people back and forth from Vail Village. We never waited long. Service was good overall, but Gessner Grill seems to need more help in the mornings when it is busy. We would order coffee and it would come after we were finished eating. Also, it seems like housekeeping is short staffed because there were 2 days that we left to ski early in the morning and our room was still not cleaned at 4 pm. My biggest complaint is that there are not enough washers and dryers and they are not convenient for most rooms as they are all located near the pool. It was a very long walk to drag our laundry to these laundry rooms. I had to stand around for over an hour waiting for a washer and then another 45 minutes waiting for a dryer. Time is money when you are on vacation. Also, people were literally fighting over getting a washer. People really need to wash laundry on ski vacations and it would make a significant difference if there were more washers and dryers in multiple locations. It is so nice that these are free for guests, but I would happily pay something if it meant they would add more washers and dryers in additional areas.

Grand Hyatt Vail is the best!

Our 3rd year in a row visiting the Grand Hyatt for New Years! This hotel did not disappoint! The property is beautiful and located right on the creek. There are two restaurants onsite and both are wonderful! The hotel is very well kept, clean and updated. This is one of our favorites Hyatts in the US. The service is excellent and the amenities are great!

Ski-in/Ski-out bliss for our family who are intermittent snowboarders, But Service Misses the Mark

We got back from the Grand Hyatt Vail, and honestly, it was a mixed bag. Vail is as beautiful as ever, and you can't beat the location of this place – Skiing in and out was the best. They really need to focus on improving their service and making the whole experience more consistent. It wasn't a bad stay, but when you're paying that much, you expect more. We enjoyed ourselves thanks to the location and some great staff members. But, this experience has us looking at other options for our next trip, maybe the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek or something in Park City. I doubt we will return to Grand Hyatt Vail. The Not-So-Good Stuff: * Communication was a mess. I emailed with Kalie, the Guest Experience Manager, before our trip, sent back a bunch of info, and then....Had to try a bunch of times to get ahold of anyone. * One of the front desk staffs for checking-in was unprofessional. Made some weird jokes that made me uncomfortable, and gave us the wrong info about breakfast. * The Gessner Grill really needs some work. Breakfast was the same thing every single day, and the food wasn't good. Plus, the receptionists there weren't professional. * The gym and hot tubs were not maintained well. They smelled weird, and just didn't seem very clean. * The whole service thing felt inconsistent. It wasn't as good as when we were there three years ago for Thanksgiving. They need to get their act together, no matter when people visit. The Good Stuff: * The location is killer. Being able to ski right out is amazing. * Some of the staff were awesome. The folks at the cafe and the valet guys were super friendly and on top of things. And the ski in/ski out crew were as great as we remembered them from our trip a few years back. Also, Kym and Danielle really helped us out after some initial issues, and Maureen was so kind. * General Manager, David, you see him trying so hard..

    Find somewhere, anywhere else

Grand? No, not at all. The rooms were dirty and dated, the staff was extremely rude (saying they would kick us out of our room if someone better came along, I’d like to see that happen) and food was mediocre. The only positive was the free ice skating and shuttle. I think this place needs a huge renovation with the property and staff.
