The Fairmont is a distinctly American hotel with all the charms and ambiance of a villa hotel in Europe yet without its pretenses; Wandering the park-like setting that surrounds the hotel, one might feel as if one might be acquainting oneself to a centuries old palace grounds, and having one's mind wander into the events witnessed by a rich history. Alas, this hotel is fairly new and offers all the various modern conveniences. As soon as I arrived, I was drawn to the relaxed atmosphere and view from my room's cozy balcony that overlooked a peaceful grove of trees and the edge of a golf course; a slight breeze gave no indication of how close I was to downtown San Diego. A short, lazy nap basking in the Sun on an autumn day was rejuvenating. The marble shower and generous bathroom facilities were equally comfortable and revitalizing as I prepared to facilitate a discussion between executives in one of their event rooms --staged for the occasion. Every interaction I had with the hosts were positive. I could tell by looking at other guests that had a momentary wait at various points of engagement, that my experience was shared. Here, details are as significant as the main offerings. It's not just clean; Comfort abounds. This is a place for social events to remember, revisit and a place to renew. This was a 3 day getaway for relaxation and seeing a few of the sites in the area.
Everything was perfect during our stay. All the staff are incredibly courteous and helpful. We were always greeted with a smile! One of the perks that truly made our stay was the use of the house car to get wherever we wanted to go in the area. Jay, our driver drove us multiple times over a two day period. He was so professional and genuine. He pointed out many incredible sites as he drove us from point to point and was always there waiting on us at the agreed upon time. He truly made our trip so much more memorable as we had not been to San Diego in quite some time and didn’t remember our way around. We will return to the Grand Del Mar again in the future and we hope we will meet up with Jay upon our return! Thanks for the great service!

Love this property, warmth, service, architecture, next level attention to detail. Jay P our driver was e EXCELLENT …over 2 days he warmly shared details of the very best of the area, took us to ALL the special places. Smart, talented, hospitable and fun, he MADE our trip memorable and so special!!

Great golf and amazing service!
Fantastic hotel with incredible service. From the moment we arrived, the staff were always attentive from check in to check out. Golf course was in amazing condition and golf staff were very helpful. Caddie was insightful and fun to be with for our day on the course. We can't wait to return.

A really well run comfortable hotel - the staff were really helpful and the service by the swimming pool was first rate - just one observation that I had never come across in a 5 star hotel anywhere in the world : no room service through the night
