Comfortable and Spacious Overall But $15 Parking Fee Was Annoying
We spent one Friday night in Room 453 (there are 5 floors). It was right next to the elevator but the soundproofing was superb so no noise issues. Bedroom window had a nice view of the hills in the distance. Very spacious suite, each room with a large TV and updated furniture. Microwave, mini fridge, and small packet 2-cup coffeemaker provided (Rainforest Blend) average taste. My disappointments were pretty minor. The breakfast offered custom cooked omelets but the juices were seriously watered down and the silverware was cheap enough that no one is likely to steal it. The indoor pool, while nice, is very small. The TV if a bit funky with no numbered channels, just flip through the guide of streaming channels. Towels had no fluff. Lighting in the rooms was average, not super bright. One of our 2 wastebaskets was not emptied, as it had a lot of candy wrappers from the previous occupant. Finally, charging a pesky $15 parking fee, even if you are staying on Hilton Hhonors points, feels a bit nickel and dime-ish. Hence I did not think the property earned a "5." For an upscale county like Marin, there are surprisingly few high quality hotels but fortunately this one checks most of the boxes on my list. There is a nice walking trail just outside the door that circles around the neighboring ponds and creeks. The desk clerks were very welcoming and helpful. The houskeeping staff and breakfast staff seemed to work quite hard.

Blinking detectors
Primary purpose of a hotel is to present a place to sleep. Very challenging given the bank of detectors (see photo) strobing their check lights every 15 seconds. The detectors are in both rooms of the suite . Otherwise typical Embassy suite.

Outdated Embassy Suites
Just a few things 1. Despite being oversold, only two staff were at the checki in. One staff was short with me on two occasions, upon checkin and the second when I asked for help. She was obviously stressed by managment's failure to provide more staff. She was nicer on the second and third day. 2. This Embassy Suites seem dark. The rooms were dark, with only two lites in the room. Living room seem cramped.

Not for families
Very friendly staff at the front desk. Quiet rooms, breakfast includes made-to-order omelets, etc. Plenty of breakfast choices. Beautifully updated and clean throughout the building, both in the room and in all the other spaces. Nice clean pool area. Some downfalls: NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY. My kids were told to leave the breakfast area because they weren’t with an adult and this slowed us down when we had only slept 3 hours and were trying to catch our Uber for the Alcatraz tour. My kids know how to politely get their breakfast in the morning, they are 9 and 10 years old. Key cards repeatedly didn’t work and the hotel is so large that getting back to the front desk takes a few minutes. The lights in the room were odd and didn’t turn on where you would think they would. It would probably take weeks to figure it all out. The kitchenette faucet was too long for the sink and would splash over the edge. Parking fees are silly for this location. It isn’t in a busy part of town so what is the point of charging parking? I’ve never heard of that in a suburban area. If I had stayed here without children I would have rated the hotel 4 out of 5 stars, but for my family’s needs this wasn’t the greatest.

Nice place
Very nice remodel and great place in Marin, New look and same great service. Quite a nice choice in San Rafael. The food is very good, the people are friendly and it is immaculately clean. It is a Embassy Suite and I like that product. I would recommend this location when in Marin.
