A lovely getaway from the snow

Overall a very lovely trip, just what we needed after receiving a lot of snow back home. We were part of the Preferred Club and having not been there before outside of the Preferred Club, I cannot compare it to regular service. I will say, though, you will need the WhatsApp if you are in the Preferred Club. That was something we didn't know and ended up having to add the Travel Pass to our phone for a day in order to confirm the app download. The app for the hotel was not helpful - the restaurant information was not up to date, but the newsletter we received from the concierge did have the correct information. If you want to eat at the Hibachi table at Himitsu, you need to get there when they open at 530 to make a reservation for one of their seatings. Unfortunately for us, there were a lot of weddings going on while we were there which I believe also forced some of the better restaurants to close some evenings. If you wanted a seat (in the shade) at the main pool with the swim-up bar, you basically had to put towels down before the pool officially opened. We spent our time at the Preferred Club beach because it was easier to get shaded seats. Willy Wonka and Mariela at the beach were absolutely phenomenal! Jennifer at the Preferred Club bar was great as well. We had Edgar at the hibachi show and he was very entertaining. Maria at the World Cafe breakfast and the Himitsu hostess was amazing. I don't know how she dealt with the angry people at Himitsu just looking to get a seat at the Hibachi and then put a smile on the next morning for breakfast! Daniel was one of the servers/waiters we had at several of the restuarants and he always had a smile on his face! We encountered several lovely waiters at the World Cafe, Lorenzo, Ricardo, Alvelina, Anairis, Evelin, Diana and Lisette.

Mission accomplished. Great family vacation at Dreams Macao!

Wow. What a vacation! We spent a week there in February. The resort was beautiful, and met all our expectations. Highlights including our Villa, the great pools, the water park and the best beach we've been to. Fun and absolutely beautiful. We knew the beaches reputation as a surfing beach with waves and it did not disappoint as that was what we were looking for. Our teenagers (who are swimmers) loved it as did us parents. Its carribean blue and clean with very little to no seeweed. Tip, walk all the way right and the beach is much calmer and some cool places to explore and see including a cave (can't go to but to see). There is also a local seafood restaraunt there. Locals may try to sell you things but we never found them overly aggressive. In fact since I didn't have cash one day, one still gave us coconuts on an honor system to get him the next day which we did. He wanted us to enjoy them! We enjoyed the food at Dreams and never went hungry as something was always open. World cafe was convenient with a variety to choose from - kind of a typical buffet. Barefoot grill was great for mid afternoon bite and we enjoyed Himitsu a few times during our visit for our Asian fix. Coco Cafe and the Taco truck were also great for treats. We did preferred club and definitely worth it for extra perks. Villa life was terrific and the main reason we chose Dreams. With 5, we needed space! Turned over twice a day by our terrific house keepers and super spacious. While a bit far from the beach the water park is right out your door! It was also quiet and comfy at night. Entertainment was fun with different themes every night with high energy performances. Don't miss Latin night! What made DR special is truly the Dominican people. The staff was amazing! Genuine, kind and warm. Too many to name but Dreams does a great job in having dedicated people entertain, attend to your needs dining and at the pools, housekeeping and grounds. They do it all with a smile on their face. Thank you Sammy, Baby Face, Willy Wonka, Diana. Maker, Alexandra. Miguel and our housekeepers! Special thanks to Carlos our butler for keeping in touch the whole week even though we didn't need him much as everything was so easy. Anderson, thanks for the changeup tips for my son! He has already tried it and has much potential! Hoping to be back soon!!!!!

    Won't return to this resort.

It was not all inclusive. Added expenses when we got there! Used our excursion money to pay for extras. The ocean was very rough unless you want to surf. Wading was almost impossible. Very dangerous ocean. Didn't get wash clothes in our room. TV didn't work.

    Not bad, but not great.

My boyfriend and I went here for our annual vacation. The resort is very pretty and nice and the staff is super nice and accomodating, but it's smaller than most all inclusives with only ONE resort on the property. With this in mind, they allocated at least 1/3 of the property to 'preferred' guests and packed in the regular visitors with pool chairs all touching and NO personal space unless you went to the water park/lazy river side which was FILLED with kids. The beach was nice, but only about a dozen tiki huts with 2 chairs each while 'preferred' had probably 50 or 60 tiki huts. Upgrade was going to be $600 dollars for a week! We also had to move rooms. Our first room was right outside from where they had wedding receptions and parties EVERY night but one out of 7. Our first night, there were THREE weddings taking up most of the non-preferred space, and we were blocked from going almost anywhere, including the beach. (They locked off the beach every night by 6 or 7. VERY disappointing). While the resort was nice, the food was my least favorite of any all inclusive, and they really have too many weddings. Please reconsider if you are not there for a party or wedding.

    Dreams Macao - Beach!

This was my 5th time to Punta Cana. I picked Dreams Macao because of the beach and I was not disappointed. This was, by far, my favorite beach because of the waves, sand quality and visual beauty. You will be approached by vendors and a quick "no gracias" is fine. We did not opt for the "preferred" this time and do not feel there was any value, for us, other than the adult pool (which was over-crowded for our taste, anyway). Mostly, we stayed on the beach or at the adult slide area. Yes, the food truck was fabulous there. I was also very happy with the vegan area of the buffet!!! I can always find vegan options, but to have a section designated was wonderful. We ate at the Italian restaurant (meh) and the Mexican (better, nothing special). We did have a wonderful evening dinner on the beach and we were accomodated with a vegan meal (salad, tomato soup, and zucchini entre" and a very special vegan dessert with a Happy Birthday wish. Service was wonderful and my compliments to the chef. CoCo Cafe was fabulous for the drinks, sandwiches, ice cream, sorbet and snacks. Another highlight was the zip-line; not very big, but lots of fun. We went down twice on 3 different days!! I will also say that our AMSTAR transportation to and from the resort was terrific. Overall, nice stay but definately a family resort.
