Don’t let the reviews fool you
Left a Google review and leaving it here also. Since nobody here is posting the facts about this place, let me enlighten everyone. We just came back from a 5 day trip for a wedding. Firstly, everyone in DR is hustling for tips. EVERYONE. Someone WILL walk into your bus at the airport asking if anyone wants a beer or water. You will agree because you think it’s free. It’s not. Refuse everything until you get to the resort. Even when we were leaving one of the TSA people at the DR airport offered to let us skip the line to scan our bags for a tip. Pros: - Hotel looks great - Bar staff is super friendly - Variety of eating options including 24 hour burgers and hot dogs as well as desserts and coffee -nice view on the beach of some cliffs off to the side - Lots of variety of pools and activities for kids - The best food I had were Hibachi, taco truck and the grill - The rooms are quiet. We didn’t hear a lot of noise at all at night. Cons: - The AC in your room is attached to a motion sensor. When it stops detecting motion it raises the temperature. This means we woke up every night multiple time covered in sweat to lower the air again. We also would come back to a room that wasn’t cold. - Pools close at 8 and beach closes early also - Beach waves are insane. I’m from Miami and was looking forward to the beach and ended up just going twice for 30 minutes. - Some days there is karaoke and activities after 8. Some days there is literally nothing to do until the “show” at 9:15. And then the club at 1030. - Dinners in the restaurants took over an hour every time - If you are not Preferred, you will be FORCED to sit in the lobby until you upgrade or throw cash at them to let you move on - You will then be handed off to a person trying to talk you into going to a timeshare breakfast and they will pretty much do the same. If you don’t go, and the timeshare person sees you during your stay they will try to talk you into going again. (They get paid $35 if you go) ***The “Preferred” Scam*** The only good thing about being Preferred is the access to the small lounge. It was the only place where the drinks had a good amount of alcohol. Mostly everywhere (except for about 4 bartenders) I was ordering doubles and triples and they still poured the same. I found myself searching for the bartenders that would do a decent pour and tipped them more. PREFERRED UPGRADES ARE A LIE. - Our mini bar was the same as our friends that weren’t preferred. They also only restocked water in it. Nothing else - The only time I asked our butler for something (new towels because our room hadn’t been cleaned at 4pm) he told me “later” and I had to tell him I needed it now because we had a rehearsal to go to. - Our room received turn down service only one night - We were supposed to get a bottle of rum every day. We only got one on our second day. Never received another - You can still access preferred areas without showing your key. We were only asked once in 5 days and that’s because we got to the pool early - The Oceana restaurant that is only accessible to preferred guests is awful. My friend got FOUR shrimp in their shrimp Mac and cheese, my other friend got fish and chips but never got French fries sent to the table, I ordered a skirt steak and was given a different cut of meat that was super fatty. - I don’t know what a pillow menu is but we never got one. - It’s a scam to make you spend more money. Needless to say, we’re probably not going back

Maco Beach is the best.
Just returned and what a wonderful week we had. Went with our 13&17yo girls and we all loved it. The layout is in a way that you don’t feel like there are too many people and it doesn’t take too long to get anywhere. The water slides and were a huge hit for us all, and the famous taco truck absolutely delivered. We are beach people and while it’s definitely bigger waves than Bavaro beach it’s still really fun. We tried boogie boarding but you have to walk way down the beach next to the venders. We felt very safe with the presence of security. The rooms were modern clean and had everything. The only issue all week and was so minor was the toilet seat was not attached properly. We notified them but didn’t get fixed. Our butler Carlos was so friendly and willing to help. Sent the schedule of daily events. We didn’t have reservations for any of the restaurants but never waited to get in either. My daughter said the salmon at the Oceana restaurant was the best she’s ever had and the bacon is always cooked to perfection. Every meal was delicious from the buffet to the barefoot grill loved the chicken wings. We had absolutely no stomach issues Whatsoever and tried everything, seafood. Salads ect and this place does a great job at attention to cleaning. We loved the speed and food of room service and coffee food options at Coco’s. Rosario ?? Was so kind and so friendly. My teens were impressed with the teen club and through the week it filled up and looked like most of the teens at the resort hung out there together in the evenings. Katherine at the beach was so happy and attentive. Loved her service. The adult pool was quiet and while Moses was there to ensure we had a nice spot and asked if we needed anything the drink service was very slow both days we tried the pool. A drink order took at least 30mintes and the washroom location wasn’t ideal from there. The main pool was beautiful, lively hard working entertainment team working to engage and make sure we all have a good show. We Would 100% go back. Best resort yet, from about 15years of annual travel to the Caribbean. You pay more than other places but this place delivers and is worth it.

A fantastic family holiday
Just returned from 10 days in your beautiful resort to celebrate my daughters 30th birthday. From arrival we were very well looked after . The staff were extremely helpful and always went above and beyond for all 9 of us and made an extra fuss of my grandchildren especially on my grandauters 4th birthday. The staff in the world cafe were exceptional on this day . The pools were great . The restaurants were fantastic again with wonderful service and a very high standard of food and service. The grounds are kept so well the gardeners do a fantastic job . The waiting staff around the pool were so friendly and welcoming. There was some really good activities sports ,arts or just chill !! The beach was stunning and felt very safe on there . Drinks service extends to thd beach also !!This was my 1st visit to the Dominican Republic and I would deffer like to return and would definitely come back to Dreams

Amazing resort
Beautiful resort and people. Our butler Francisco was fantastic. Staff at the preferred family pool were great. Highly recommend. Beach is a little wavy. Good for surfing. Food was good. We stayed in a villa and it was perfect. Lazy river and water slides was a hit

Great wedding experience, awful everything else
Not a great hotel. Would honestly choose any other resort over this place. The pools were fine, the food was not good, the rooms were worn down. It was just not a good experience. However the wedding activities and ceremony were beautiful amd we did enjoy those. If you're going for someplace that feels very tired and has the bare necessities to be called an all inclusive this is it. If you want an elevated experience, choose any other resort on the island.
