Excellent vacation December 3-10/2024
We went the preferred club, swim out room with king bed. Everything was excellent, housekeeping staff kept the room very clean, the bed was comfortable and there was lots of closet space. The extra amenities were nice and appreciated. We also felt like we were not bombarded with people, ie: vacationers, as it was not in the prime time, so it was quiet and there was no waiting for anything. We went to the preferred lounge every night for an after dinner drink and we thoroughly enjoyed the premium drinks. Even though we had a swim out room we stayed most of the mornings and early afternoons at the preferred, adult pool. The preferred pool was fantastic as was the 2 a la carts we went to for dinner, the French and the Mexican. All the food, at the buffet and a la carts was very good and the grounds were very well kept. In other reviews, people wondered, without wearing bands how did the staff know who was preferred and who was not. We found, every relevant place we were at we were asked for our room number and the staff also get to know you, so they know if you are preferred or not. We stayed seven days and I can say this was probably the best resort we stayed at in all our many, many years of traveling. I guess the time of year also had something to do with that. We used the water slide, as a senior, OMG, it’s fast, but fun, then the relaxing lazy river was enjoyed. Special shout out to Jesus “Jay”, Rossy “Rosy”and Rosangela at the preferred pool, our butler Francisco, and the room housekeeper, sorry, I forget her name, but all were fantastic and made our vacation special and memorable. The preferred club, for us, was definitely worth it. Already looking at booking again and going back, preferred club of course. If I had to pick a con, it would be the double sink in the bathroom that left virtually no counter space to put anything else on.

Family Vacation
This was our second trip to Dreams Macao this year and it did not disappoint. It has everything to offer. There are several pools, the resort was clean and the entire staff is friendly and amazing. We saw a lot of familiar faces from our last trip. Eddy, the bell hop, Johnny Bravo, Victor OG, Lindura, Moana, Rapunzel from the entertainment team, Mayra, serving drinks at the Sugar Reef, Elias over at the preferred pool and Adrian our butler from our previous trip this year. We stayed in building 1 this trip. It was close to the CoCo Cafe and close to the preferred adults only pool. We ate at every restaurant except the Japanese and French. We got to the restaurants early so there was little to no wait getting seating. The food was good and had no stomach issues. Our housekeeper Gabriel was hard working and cleaned the room with care. Our son had an amazing time over at the Explorers Club. Lindura, Moana, Chocolate and Rapunzel does a great job entertaining the children. They do a variety of activities throughout the day to keep the kids busy. My son wanted an Explorers Hat for his birthday and Lindura was kind enough to give my son a hat. He would not take off the hat throughout the rest of the trip. Eddy, the bell hop, went the extra mile to buy a small gift for my son for his birthday. Johnny Bravo was helping my son when the Explorers Club was making pizza by the Barefoot Grill. Johnny is a true gentleman, caring person and a major part of the entertainment team. Victor OG is very energetic, hard working and enjoys his job. We had several in depth conversations about Anime. He would always stop by to say hello. Williams, Rihanna, Lollipop, Marianni, Mosquito, Ninja, Yoan & Chaos Luis from the entertainment team did an outstanding job. Best entertainment team in Dreams. Miguel from the theatre did a fantastic job. Mayra & Yuberkis over at the Sugar Reef bar & Jorge, over at the lobby bar kept the drinks flowing for us throughout the day. The entire staff at the CoCo cafe are extremely friendly and hard working. Please do not hesitate to book this hotel. We will be back again in 2025 to see our great friends at this resort.

Dreams Macao is a great resort for families!
Resort is very clean and all of the staff very friendly and helpful. A lot of things for families to do with two separate splash pads, lazy river and rock climbing wall. The beach was very clean and the resort does their best to keep the vendors away. Food is good with multiple options for outside grilling and restaurants. Rooms are clean and spacious and housekeeping cleans daily and refills multiple times as well. We never had to want for anything! The air is cold and works very well!

Beautiful hotel, great staff, rough water
TLDR: Beautiful, well maintained hotel, with incredibly friendly staff at every single turn that is great for people that don't care about swimming in the ocean. We would absolutely go to another Dreams resort, but we wouldn't go back here, the waves are just too much. Details: Staff are terrific. Whether it's the entertainment team, the wait staff, the bartenders, the life guards, the cleaning staff, or the landscapers, everyone was super consistent: friendly, asking how you're doing, responding consistently on their end with 'excelente!' It's probably a mix of good people, good hiring, good training, and good management. But everyone really and truly did their best to make you feel special and ensure that you enjoyed your holiday. Food is excellent. Lots of fresh fruit including passion fruit, kiwi, pineapple, papaya, watermelon and cantaloupe - even the strawberry daquiri mix that's in the mixers had real strawberries blended and added. Grills offer up a mix of meats and seafood, breakfast had three omelette stations, sit down restaurants were legit, and the buffet rotated dishes frequently enough to not get bored. Quality of life little things are a surprising differentiator. All the little irritants - they just don't exist here. Bottles of water always supplied in the room. Lines at bars and restaurants don't often exist because they do a good job of spreading people out across the resort and distributing crowds across time. Speaking of time, they keep things running on time and the staff are super accommodating, often running games long even if it eats into their lunch or break, just doing their best to keep guests happy and enjoying themselves. Facilities are fantastic. Whether it's the pool, the water slides, the lazy river, the volleyball courts, or anywhere else around the resort, well run, well maintained. Shout out to the tennis pro - he maintains those courts beautifully. Tennis courts have hard packed sand as a base with loose sand on top, so it plays a lot like clay courts but with the drainage needed for the rain they get in Dominican. All the tennis court grooming equipment is there and you can tell that it's loved and cared for wonderfully. The big drawback: the waves. Beach itself is big and beautiful but the waves are relentless. 5 foot waves or bigger are the norm, and they crash hard on the beach. You can go in the water, but you'll effectively be going in for the purpose of standing in the water or jumping into a wave - there is no swimming. We witnessed at least 4 lifeguard rescues of folks in the water who were getting tossed and turned in the waves, unable to regain their balance before the next one hit. Surfing is definitely a thing, but you'll need to be fairly proficient. I'd learnt how to surf earlier this year and gave it a try here, but it was very clearly above my skill level - waves came faster than I could catch them (physically couldn't paddle fast enough to match their speed) and they crashed harder than I could manage, even at the quieter end of the beach towards the cliff. More experienced surfers definitely held their own, but it was definitely beyond my skill. Ultimately: we had a great time but the water was definitely a shame. With a calmer beach, it would have been an auto 10/10. As it stands, can say the hotel and staff did everything they could to provide a great holiday, and we'll definitely go to Dreams again, but this particular beach was just not for us.
