    Great Experience With Friends

We had a great experience with a large group of friends at Dreams Las Mareas. As most of the other reviews here will tell you, there's a loooooong ride from LIB airport but once you're at the resort it's wonderful. The rooms were nice, the service was excellent everywhere, and the food was great with the exception of the Mexican restaurant (El Patio). The pools are plentiful and well maintained. We stayed in building 3 on the 6th floor and the ocean view was really nice. If you're wondering if you should upgrade to the Preferred Club, we'd say it's not worth it unless you want an ocean view room. They don't check anyone at the preferred pool so anyone seems to be able to use it. The preferred lounge is nice, but it's not convenient to get to regularly. And, the upgrade doesn't seem to have any additional benefits for meals or alcohol choices. If you are ok with not having an ocean view room, we'd recommend saving the extra cost.

Security issue!!! Don't trust the room safe!

We were at the resort for our honeymoon and while the amenities are fine, the resort has a huge security issue. We had money stolen from us multiple times. At first we thought that we hadn't secured our money but it wasn't until the last night that we realized that someone had access to our room safe and were stealing our money. (Yes people can get access to a hotel safe if they have a code) The whole trip was tainted by the theft!!! We reported the first incident to the hotel and they told us that non unauthorized access was made to the room and that they believed their staff were honest. After this we did not feel that it was safe to report the second or third theft to the hotel. There were multiple incidents where people came into our room or were seen leaving our room without cause. In each theft, only the money that we converted to Costa Rican currency was taken. On the day that we checked in there was a guest making a complaint that someone had been in their room and taken things. Later on, we had a chance to see this guest and he explained that he asked specifically that no one go into his room because things were missing and yet people were still going in. Unfortunately we didn't take this as a warning and lost money as a result.

    Costa Rican Delight

Wonderful experience at Dreams Las Mareas Resort. It was our 3rd trip there and we got just what we expected. Our room was well located close to the pool and the ocean. Beautiful landscape, great food and restaurants, good entertainment and wonderful service. We're already planning to return in 2026!

    Book Your Vacation Somewhere Else

We recently stayed at Dreams Las Mareas in order to preview the location for our destination wedding. We booked through tripguy.com and they made the whole process super easy and everything went extremely smooth when it came to the flights, airport transfers, and check in. Overall, the stay wasn't bad, but I would spend your money elsewhere. (We've been to 5 other all inclusive resorts prior to this one for reference). Positives: - Restaurants had amazing food and the service was impeccable. - Pools were very clean and had enough of them to where they didn't feel crowded. - Alcohol selection was great. - Evening entertainment was decent. - Minibar was restocked daily, as long as you don't have the do not disturb sign on your door. - The resort was very beautiful and the views were great. Negatives: - They will harass you to meet with the sales team in order to buy a membership/time share. Even after we agreed, they called our room at 8am and woke us up to ensure we were still going that day. We told them we were there to preview the site for our wedding and they were still pushy. The Sales Manager even had the nerve to say to us at the end of the meeting after we said we didn't want a membership, "You did realize this was a sales pitch, right?". - The beach is very public and on the smaller side, so you really notice the amount of public people and vendors on the beach. A massage vendor set up their business sign directly in front of our chairs blocking our view of the ocean, set her massage tables up right next to our chairs, and set her tarp up to cover her tables from the sun directly over our chairs as well. We also wanted our ceremony on the beach, but we were able to see 3 beach ceremonies while visiting and each of them had around 40 people (from the resort, the public, and vendors) surrounding the ceremony site, making the ceremony very public. - The buffet is very small and does not have a lot of variety. It's the only place for breakfast and served the same thing every day. - The only bar that is open to regular guests after the pool bars close at 6pm is the piano bar. There is either no music playing and it's boring, or they're having entertainment in there and it's beyond packed since it's the only bar open. - There were multiple times where staff knocked on our door prior to 9am waking us up even though we had the do not disturb sign on the door. - Don't waste your money on preferred club. Anyone can use the preferred bars and pools since there are no wristbands and they don't enforce/monitor them.

    Oasis

It’s not the greatest location in Costa Rica if you’re looking for off site excursions, (you’re in the north nearly in Nicaragua), but if we’re rating the property not the location, it’s a fantastic spot. Food is outstanding. Staff is professional. Property is spotless. Monkeys are friendly. It’s like an oasis.
