Average hotel that has no real resort or elite recognition.
Initially I gave what was an unfair review but I think average is fair. The hotel charges for early check in before 11am but after that is available for Diamond members though they didn't tell me that, and I didn't come back till 130 and the room still wasn't ready. I received no upgrade as a Diamond member, which is suspicious when they were quite willing to sell me paid for upgrades. Other than that the room I did receive (ie what I reserved) was fine, with a private balcony overlooking the city/mountain. There is a small pool that is ice cold and one restaurant with $18/per person credit daily that covers most (but not all after tax and tip) of a Continental breakfast, the full buffet is $32 with tax and before tip. They are responsive through text and the location is decent, close to the beach through Hilton Hawaiian Village and about ten minutes from the main shopping areas around Ala Moana and Waikiki itself. Very average hotel that treats elite members very averagely, received upgrade and perks at the HHV. I would likely pay more (in $ or points) for it next time. The fact that this hotel charges a resort fee (luckily not for point redemption) is definitely a joke though.

Doubletree Alana is not it.
My wife surprised me with a honeymoon trip to Hawaii and specifically requested a king bed with city views. Instead, we were given twin beds—definitely not the romantic setup we envisioned—and a view of the parking lot and the backs of buildings. We can’t even see a street with people on it. To make matters worse, the toilet sprays water all over my legs when flushed but somehow still leaves behind waste. On top of that, I couldn’t add my Hilton Honors account to the reservation. When we asked about switching rooms, the front desk told us they were fully booked and couldn’t accommodate us. Overall, this experience has been a huge disappointment. What was supposed to be a special honeymoon has been completely ruined.

And enjoyable evening on a rainy night
We had a very enjoyable dinner in the hotel tonight. Mitchell was an excellent server bringing energy and entertainment to the evening. The meal was excellent. We had the ribs and the wings with fries. He did an amazing job running up and down the stairs between the two kitchens to get our dinners to the table! He was even adventurous to make a specialty cocktail.

Older hotel with good bones
This in an older hotel. Very small bathroom, but the room is big enough. Comfortable beds. Super expensive car parking - $60 per night! There is a parking around the corner for $24. Very inconvenient and uncomfortable lobby. Facility is not up to Double Tree/Hilton standards. Breakfast area needs update. Appreciate made to order omelet for breakfast. Will not stay again.

Customer service needs help
Its been a week since I stayed at this establishment. I have stayed here several times over the past years and I try to have as little contact with the staff as possible. This time I had to interact with staff. The front desk lady not sure of her name but she was working the Saturday afternoon shift, no smile whatsoever when I requested an extra towel and a key card, no greeting at all. Sunday another unpleasant encounter several times. There were two families waiting to be seated at the restaurant and they did acknowledge that they were not able to sit all together because they had 11 of them total. But the lady asked if they just could be seated close to each other in the nicest and most courteous way and the hostess was unbelievably rude and miserable. Stating the restaurant is busy and theyll get whatever is available. When it was my turn she gave me the same look as if I was inconvenience to her when I asked for take out, she abruptly cut me off and said "we dont do takeout" so I asked in general she than rolls her eyes and says "just breakfast" Second encounter with my digital key not working with the elevator and giving me an error code, same guest agent as the day before same "cheery" attitude was of no help and kept on insisting of trying again when it obviously wasnt working. I worked customer service not every day is a great day but to have the same attitude these people should seek other forms of employment because customer service isnt exactly for them. the gentleman at the front desk that worked Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning thank you for all your help and suggestion for the quick breakfast. This will be my last time staying at this property. For a being a Hilton property total dissapointment.
