Nice Oceanfront Hotel
We had an overall good stay at this hotel on the Big Island. Our room was well-furnished with a balcony, though was only modestly sized. The hotel was in a busier part of the island. There were many restaurants a short walk away and many stores a quick drive away. An ABC store was also conveniently in the hotel’s building. There was ample parking around the hotel, though there is a daily parking fee and access to the lot requires your key card (you can grab a ticket the first time you enter before checking in). We noticed the hotel had many amenities & activities including exhibits, cabanas, and a small beach area. However, we did not take advantage of many of these as we were spending a lot of time visiting other parts of the island. Overall, these amenities were not at the scale of a large resort but still appeared appealing for those wanting to spend time just at the hotel.

Well appointed hotel with good location.
Very good location, walking distance and close to the ocean. Clean room with comfortable beds. Good breakfast in the open dining room. Friendly staff and nice bar area. Good restaurants nearby. Would stay there again. On the 17th floor and beautiful view of the city.

Mean eggs and ham
Overall, Marriott was wonderful, the staff are very friendly, and I cannot complain about the hotel. Actually, I would recommend this hotel based on the location and service. This is my fifth time taking family to Kona, and the first time I felt very unsafe walking outside the hotel. My wife and I went to a nice dinner and a car full of young men threw eggs on us as we walked back to the hotel. My wife had her new dress, her new pearl necklace, a new jewelry box, and her purse, covered in eggs. They got my shirt too. But what upsets me is I cannot stop this from happening. Whether or not you come to Kona, I hope you have a good trip. But we found out that these kids regularly cruise up the main road by the water, egging cars and tourists. The eggs didn’t hurt, but it hurts your pride when you take your family on vacation only to learn you cannot protect them. Good luck!!

Stay
My mom and I had a great stay. We came to visit family. We enjoyed the luau. Staff were excellent. They were very friendly, polite and helpful when asking for help. I will stay again. I give hotel a Five star review. Aloha and mahalo. I also enjoyed the food. I glad that they offer to mail postcards.

Great location. Nice hotel. Eat somewhere else.
A good hotel with an excellent location. The ocean view rooms are well-worth the extra cost. The room was very comfortable. That said, there are a couple issues worth noting: The dining services are not great. The poolside bar is OK, but the "main dining room" is rarely open for dinner and then only for overpriced buffets. Fortunately there are many much better restaurants just steps/blocks away. Also, the employees were not real helpful and seemed mighty overworked. All in all, though, a quality experience.
