Don’t do it
I read the reviews before I booked this hotel, but thought, “it’s a Marriott, it can’t be that bad.” Check in wasn’t terrible. Asked for a high floor and got it. It was downhill after that. The room is dated and smelled musty. Turned the TV on to relax for a bit and no streaming capabilities. I chatted to the front desk and didn’t get a response. I walked down to the front desk and was told some rooms have it and some don’t but after the storm (no idea what storm) the internet doesn’t really work anyway. I asked if housekeeping could check a few rooms to see if streaming is available or if anyone knew which rooms and was told “no, and we can’t check other rooms.” Keep in mind housekeeping was still cleaning rooms on all floors and could have easily checked. AC barely cooled the room and I struggled to sleep because I was hot. Didn’t bother saying anything to the front desk since I was checking out anyway and the response about the TV streaming. When we walked out of our room that morning to check out, the whole hall and elevator smelled like someone had just smoked a bowl. Not what I was expecting from a Marriott, and I will definitely not stay here again. Overall, complete disappointment and not worth the money.

Amazing experience for a family stay
I have been to this hotel multiple times and have always enjoyed my stay here. The staff are always nice and helpful, and the recreational facilities are also neat and clean. I would highly recommend this place to everyone. The location is also perfect for a visit to Virginia Beach.

Cancelled With No Notification and Delaying Refund
I booked this hotel along with two other families for one night. We booked about a month in advance and I received a confirmation number through Capital One Travel. The two other families checked in and when it was my turn, I was informed my room was cancelled and they were sold out. When asked why it was cancelled I was told “the credit card on file was declined.” This is false and the room had already been paid in full. They made no effort to find us a room in this hotel or any of the other Marriott hotels in the area. When I called capital one travel to get my refund three days later, capital one confirmed the reservation was never actually cancelled. When he called the hotel to process the refund they said they could not without additional approvals. So now I’m waiting for them to approve my refund for a stay that I WANTED but was told at the desk they could not fulfill. This hotel would get zero stars if I could.

Has gone downhill
Well, this was always our “go to” when visiting Busch Gardens. After our stay this past weekend, that is no longer the case. The room was is poor shape. There was a sticky black stain on the carpet near the AC unit. The ceiling in the shower was cracking and moldy. The room has bugs- beetles and ants (big black ants, not the small sugar ants). The doors to get inside were not working so you had to walk all the way around the hotel to the main entrance to get in depending on available parking. The hot tub was not functional. The staff were rude and immature. Basically all the reasons we’ve stayed in the past were not happening and this will be our last visit to this location. They should be ashamed to call themselves a Marriott. When the manager was notified of the issues, the response was “I apologize” and that was it. This will be the last time we will stay here. The Hilton right around the corner is the same price and much nicer after that terrible experience.

Not the best experience this time.
I went to the Marriott in June 2023 with my family consisting of 5. We got one room, with two queen beds. It was definitely a tough squeeze, but we still made it work. I have been going to this hotel since 2019, and I must say they have all been enjoyable times. Unfortunately, this time we went, it was more disgusting than usual. First off, the hot tub smelt like urine, and the water was yellow. It ended up closing I’m pretty sure. The pool was very murky, and definitely unsanitary comparing to all of the previous years. I’m not expecting a lot for the “low cost price”however, it’s gross looking, and totally outdated. Also, the breakfast is very expensive. Usually all Marriott’s have all-inclusive breakfasts, so it's definitely a downside when booking this hotel, considering there are other hotels in the area for a similar price which INCLUDES BREAKFAST. Some positives I would like to point out are the staff. They are very nice, and truly helpful for a family like mine. The lobby was also pretty clean too, including our room- the AC worked great. am coming back in two weeks, and I hope my stay is better this time. I can’t say I don’t like this hotel, because it feels like a second home to me when I come visit Williamsburg, so hopefully everything goes well next time around!
