    Loved Coco Beach! Belize...eh

Coco Beach is a lovely resort. Not all inclusive, but pricing is quite friendly - you get good value for what you pay. Roughly 75% of the property is condo rental, and the remaining 25% hotel, which is where we stayed. Amenities are ample, staff is terrific, and for a resort experience, all one could expect and more for the price paid. Food is good to above average. There was a wedding party that occupied most of the resort over our stay, and we never heard them after about 9. Not a beach destination in our lexicon, but if you want to dive or game fish, close to optimal: when wind does not blow. (As it did, oddly, while we visited.) Skip the not so "Secret Beach" trip - waste of time: better lounging at Coco. There's some interesting folks up to the North, but be prepared for a bone jarring trip as you head to Margaritaville (and back). South from Coco is more chaotic as you approach San Pedro. But interesting ex-pat society, and a new mercado where you can purchase essentials like booze and snacks to supplement the resort. Though... the resort prices were really quite fair and no b.s. tack-on fees. Towels, chairs, etc. all part of the price of admission. We took the ferry into San Pedro and the Mayan flight out without real issue. The airport is an upgrade from Cancun, but crowded and wear your ears. Belize has its challenges. The residents do not respect their gift of landscape. Trash, particular plastic trash is evident nearly everywhere. Security was present and evident all along the resort perimeter.

    Just Book it!

Beautiful resort. The rooms were heaven. The staff were wonderful. I just wish there was a swim able beach. It was very relaxing. Water available in rooms. Bring your water bottle with you so you can refill. All the usual expected amenities are in the rooms. Pool is wonderful and not over crowded. My husband and I had a great time.

Major Issue with No Proper Resolution

Our stay here was not a great experience, which is a shame because we were looking forward to a wonderful family vacation and the hotel should have accommodated us immediately. We booked 5 nights in a 2 bedroom. The first night there we woke up and found ants crawling up the walls in our kitchen and could not get the A/C below 77. We informed the front desk and were told it would be taken care of. When we returned to our room that afternoon, not only was the ant problem not better, it was worse. They had likely wiped them from the walls and did put out an ant trap. The A/C was not fixed. We were leaving for dinner and went back to the front desk. They asked me if I still wanted both fixed. Well, of course I did. I also informed them the ants had found their way into our sealed food on the counter and we would now have to throw away our groceries. When we came back, they informed us the A/C was now fixed. It needed frion. No explanation as to why that didn't happen earlier. And more ant traps. The next day, they spelled out "Apologies" on our bed in flowers. The next morning, I found ants other places on the walls in the dining area and on the floor in the bathroom. Back to the front desk for the 3rd time to express the ant problem. At this point, I asked to move rooms (again) and was told they would get back to me. Hours later I was told there was no where else to accommodate my family and they offered to completely fog the room. I told them the fogging should not happen with all of our stuff in there and that was not ok. So they sent maintenance again to "fix" our issue. The next morning, I woke up itching and could not figure it out until I found a few ants crawling in our BED! I had 15 ant bites on my abdomen alone. My husband had a few. When I went back to the desk they simply apologized again and asked what they could do. I was taken back that they were putting in on me to come up with a solution. After speaking to them I did request a room rate refund for at least part of our stay. I was told they could not help because I booked through a 3rd party and to have the 3rd party call them. I did that and they still refused to compensate for the room. In the end, I was offered dinner one night at the hotel for my family and a portion of our golf cart rental for the week and round trip transfers to the island airport. We lived with a major ant problem for 5 nights and had to throw away all of our food. The "compensation" equated to approximately a little over 1/2 off one night at the hotel. What a disappointment. And it's a shame because the resort was beautiful and the fix should have been a simple movement of a room.

    Fabulous, Relaxing , Resort

Although I lived and worked in southern Mexico throughout the decade of the 70’s , I had never visited Belize . That being said my wife and I have vacationed on at least 10 different Caribbean island and have stayed at the nicer resorts on all of them . Coco Beach on Ambergris Caye was as nice as we have ever stayed in . We had a 2 bedroom unit with a full kitchen and 2 baths . Although it was not beach front , we had a 100% view of the ocean ( Blg 3 )that included a large balcony. The room was spotless and beautifully appointed with comfortable rattan style furniture . The resort has 2 swimming pools , one of which is ocean front. The entire resort has beautiful architecture and is well shaded mature palm trees . The highlight of our stay was having dinner in their fine dining room , Coco Blanca . Absolutely on of the gorgeous and delicious restaurants we have ever eaten in !! Our only disappointment was that Coco Beach does not really have a beach . That being said , all of the resorts are on the eastern side of the island and all the beaches are on the western side of the island . This reflects poorly on our research , not the resort . Belize is a third world country world country, but the people are are first world friendly. We felt 100% safe during our entire stay . One word of caution. If you rent a golf cart , watch out for topes on the paved roads and potholes on the dirt roads WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND COCO BEACH.

Great place for a family vacation

Great place for a family. It is a bit north of town but it’s very quiet up there, being away from the busy and partying. Breakfast and cocktails were great. Staff were amazing. The pool with a water slide was ideal for kids. If we come back to Belize I’d definitely stay here again.
