    Best Western is going downhill

The outdoor doors did not lock. Did see some strange behavior in the hallway. Very dirty the carpeting is filthy--need replacement. Wallpaper is falling off the walls in the hallway. Breakfast room dismal and food choices were poor. No maid service. They did enter and took the tip I left but did nothing. Staff was pleasant. Location was terrific. Price was very reasonable.

Best Western - Colonial Williamsburg Area

Front desk was nice. Homemade sausage gravy on Sunday. Large indoor pool. Met expectations for price. Great location - very close to Colonial Williamsburg. Great for families. Most rooms on main level hallway. Mexican restaurant on site.

Not the greatest Best Western we've been to

The staff was great, very friendly and helpful. We needed a pet-friendly room because we had our small dog with us. The location is very good with nearby restaurants and Colonial Williamsburg a short drive away. Our room was carpeted, which we found odd since we requested a pet-friendly room. We expected some lingering dog smells, but instead the room smelled so musty that we bought a can of Lysol to spray throughout the room. The wall near the AC unit & window was so mushy that it looked like it might crumble, we assume from water damage from the AC in the room above us. It appears that it's been a while since any real maintenance was done. The carpet in the hallway looked as though it hadn't been vacuumed in a while. The doors from the parking lot and the courtyard pool area into the hallway where the rooms are never closed...or locked. Which means they were open for anyone (or anything) to just walk in. The complimentary breakfast was served from 7am to 10am. We got there about 9am. There wasn't a whole lot left and what was left looked like it had been there for more than 2 hours. The plates were gone and there was no attendant. We went to McDonald's. All things considered, we won't be returning to that particular location.

    Sub-par Facility

The Best Western standards we expect are not what we experienced here. The hotel has been well used and not kept up. The bathroom tile was dirty and had many replaced, unmatched tiles, the toilet was older and had lots of messy caulking around the base of it. We didn't find a hairdryer in the room, despite it claiming to have one. The "granite" countertop wasn't the right length and was pieced. It took quite some time to get hot water in the shower. The provided bathroom amenities left a lot to be desired. In our room, the carpet was in disrepair and had lots of fraying in it. There were not enough outlets in the room. The bedside lamp was plugged in and the one outlet on the lamp had the clock plugged in it. The room was very humid and the textiles all felt damp. We went to get ice in the ice bucket and it had mildew all in it. The perimeter doors (not in the lobby) not only didn't lock but they wouldn't even shut completely. The breakfast was ok but not rave reviews. We were able to get enough to eat and everything was mostly stocked. The milk that was in the cooler had expired a few days before. On our second night the HVAC unit in the room started to make a weird sound and eventually cut off. I went to check it out and tried to get it back on to no avail. In the process, I noticed the cable tv line run through a hole in the HVAC unit from outside to inside. I went to the front desk to alert them to the HVAC not working around 10:45 that evening. The front desk was very swift and gave me the connecting room next door to move to for the night. Most of the same issues in the room previously mentioned were the same in this room (with the exception of the HVAC). It was damp everywhere, carpet frayed, water pressure etc. Both rooms didn't look like they had been used in a while and had a musty smell to them. In all, I didn't feel unsafe there but was very disappointed in the quality of the establishment for the price we paid for it.

    Stay away at all cost

The nastiest most run down "hotel" I've ever been too. Broken, unsecure room door. Heavy presence of mold/mildew order. Broken lamps and shades. Rust on every surface that could rust. Broken down furnishings. Dirty carpet, coffee maker, phone, and remote. Busted TV, phone not working properly. No covers or inspection tags on fire extinguishers. After complaining to what I assume was the owner at the front desk, he hesitantly moved us up to the second floor. The only difference was the smell was less. We would have left but after 7 hours driving after 12am on a Friday there weren't any other options. We left first thing in the morning and did not stay for "breakfast included" hard pass.
