Mar 08, 2025Best Time at Breathless
The atmosphere, service, food, drinks, and overall vibe were fantastic!! Andres and Manny from entertainment go way above and beyond to make sure people are having a good time. The themed daytime, activities and nighttime entertainment is very fun also. The pools were beautiful, and the beach was nice except for the amount of seaweed that was left on the beach for several days. Due to the amount of seaweed in the water, no one was able to get in that water.

Mar 08, 2025Celiacs and Gluten Free beware
Very disappointed. I have celiac disease, so I have to be very careful where we go. I researched this property extensively, spoke to various employees, chef, concierge. All promised me that there would many many gluten free options, all items well labeled. They Lied! Upon arrival to Xhale club, which is beautiful and full of snacks and meal items, NONE labeled, I asked the staff there if any was GF, nobody had any idea what I was talking about. After checking in, went to restaurant for dinner. after receiving the menu, asked the server if he could tell me which Items I could have GF, again he had just a confused look on his face, didnt know what I was talking about. then he shrugged his shoulders and said "Maybe?, I think so?". Those are the answers someone with celiac cannot have. We left the restaurant, went back to room and ordered room service. Ordered vegetable soup (after stating clearly I am celiac and it must be gluten free, the person on the phone just kept saying "yes, yes, yes". the soup arrived with tortilla strips sprinkled on top. (flour/corn?? I dont know) so now I couldnt eat that either. I sent my husband down to buffet to grab me an unpeeled banana. they stopped him at door, said he couldnt bring food out (1 banana), they said they would send it up to the room. Later room service delivered a cut up fruit salad. I cannot eat that either, dont know prep of it. so discarded that too. went to bed hungry and checked out of hotel next day. If I cannot feel safe eating on my vacation, its not worth it. This trip costed us almost $7000.00, and I never ate or drank anything. Im so disappointed, we really looked foreword to this trip and saved a long time, all for NOTHING. Dont trust anyone who says they are celiac friendly because they are not.

Breathless Riviera Maya Review! We just returned from a stay at this resort and loved it! Here are our thoughts! Location & Accessibility This resort is in a prime location ~20 minutes from the airport, making transfers quick and easy. It’s also located on a national reef, offering stunning scenery and great snorkeling opportunities. The resort itself strikes the perfect balance—not too big, not too small—making it easy to navigate. The neighboring resort is an interesting sight to say the least so keep that in mind. Check-In & First Impressions Our arrival experience was smooth and welcoming. The Xhale Lounge was a nice touch, though it was a bit busy. Staff greeted us with cold towels and welcome drinks, took our bags, and were genuinely friendly. The lobby was beautifully designed and impeccably clean, setting the tone for a great stay. Accommodations We booked an Oceanfront room, which was definitely worth it. While you could hear music during the day, it wasn’t an issue at night. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The housekeeping staff was fantastic. Some highlights: - Double shower heads in the bathrooms were incredible. - Cool tech features such as an iPad for controls. - Automatic lights took a while to turn off, which was a bit annoying. - Balcony was large and had great views. - Beds were decent but not the most comfortable. Food & Beverage Dining options were solid, with a mix of à la carte and buffet-style meals. - 5 dinner restaurants: Average to slightly above average, with the Asian and Mexican options standing out. - Buffet (3 meals a day): Good variety and overall solid food. - Sit-down lunch option: A bit slow but above average in quality. - Pool/beachside lunch:Pizza was excellent, especially with Cesear! We ate the pizza almost daily! Burgers and other snacks were solid. - Bars: Some were better than others. Swim-up bars were busy, but the beachside bar (shoutout to Fernando!) was the best. - Alcohol quality: Standard for an all-inclusive; beer selection was good (Dos Equis, Coors Light, and, Tecate). - Café: Fantastic! Great coffee and ice cream, with amazing service from Danielle. - Room service: Reliable and good quality. Must get the quesadillas. Pools & Beach - Pools were clean and well-maintained. - Lounge chairs were tough to get, often reserved by 9 AM. I would advise to put down a towel as soon as you wake up! - Plenty of shaded areas on the beach. - Wait service was excellent at both the beach and pool. - Seaweed was an issue, but the resort worked hard to clean it daily. - Beach had rocky areas. - Sand was beautiful although beach is quite small. - Special mention to Alfredo, an amazing pool concierge! Entertainment & Activities - Daytime activities were fantastic, the party pool had DJs and daily shows,making it a lively scene. - The Energy Pool was a highlight, offering activities such as blackjack, cornhole, trivia, and salsa dancing. - Evening entertainment was great with fun shows, a silent disco, and a rowdy nightclub later in the night. - Ivan from the Energy Team was amazing! Service & Staff Service was top-tier across the board. Every staff member went above and beyond. Some standout names besides the ones listed above: - America (Xhale Lounge Concierge): Extremely helpful. - Gabriella (Sports Bar):Fantastic service. - Luis (Front Desk): Super friendly. - Paulo (Bellhop): Absolutely amazing! Spa & Wellness - Hydrotherapy session (included with Xhale level) was fantastic. - Spa services were overpriced, so we opted for beach massages instead, which were much more affordable and still great. I would highly recommend the beach massage! - The gym was excellent, with high-quality equipment. - Relaxation level: Pools and beaches always had music, so it wasn’t the quietest environment. The Secrets side was slightly more relaxed. Value for Money Overall, this resort was well worth the price for the quality of experience. However: they try to upsell you on bottle service and special chairs. Xhale Level perks were limited, mainly including the view, breakfast at a restaurant, hydrotherapy session, a beach bag, and a free bottle. Overall Experience & Recommendation We loved this resort so much that we added another day to our stay! It’s best suited for couples looking for a mix of fun and relaxation—not many singles when we were there, and the crowd was mostly younger to mid-aged adults. Would we return? Absolutely! A Wonderful Place!
An excellent resort with just the right mix of activities and quiet. We loved the options and the non-pressure atmosphere to join. The food was amazing at all the restaurants, pools and buffet. The service was undeniably the most attentive, courteous and friendly, we've ever seen! This was a perfect way to escape the cold and unwind!

Graduation celebration for our two sons
We have two sons (age 23 + 25) that graduated college and wanted to go to Mexico to celebrate. I contacted my travel agent, Amy, with Dream Makers Vacation and picked her brain. I have known Amy for 20 years and she has not steered us wrong yet! She suggested Breathless Riviera Cancun Resort + Spa and we ran with it. On our drive to the resort, the last few miles were interesting; we didn't see one palm tree, a beach or hotel. . . where are we going?? Around the final bend we arrived at our destination. After a tour of the grounds, we knew we were in for a beautiful stay. We waited maybe 15 minutes to check in, were given some general information and were escorted to our rooms. They were in the same building, facing the ocean and in a quieter area of the resort. Amy, thank you!! Perfect for our family vacay! Some shout-outs (sorry if we did not get all of your names): Luscien - Spoons Jordan - Italian + French restaurant Nemo - entertainment host Edwin - The Strip/Bites restaurant Patricia - Spoons Jose - waiter at Pan/Asian restaurant David - Spoons There were many options as to what or where to eat. The entertainment was good and pool service was spot on. Many reviews here have more details you can read, but I must say that if you are traveling with two grown sons, this would be a wise choice. Save travels. :)
