Nothing special but good hotel
This was a good hotel. It's in an office neighborhood and so it's quiet (read: dead) during weekends. We were there for one night to visit a local college. Our room was well-sized for 4 people, clean and with comfortable beds. It had a microwave, a mini fridge and a coffee maker. Breakfast in the morning was decent. If you need to be downtown, this hotel is in a good location as it's only 10 minutes away. Although the hotel is nothing special, it is a good hotel and a good option if you need to stay in Pittsburgh, and it has the quality we expect from a Holiday Inn Express hotel. We would stay here again if we needed to be in Pittsburgh.

Bug Infestation
If you do not want to read this long review and want to jump to the evidence, look at the pictures. I am a platinum member, former diamond member, with nearly one million points. I have stayed at many IHG properties nationally and internationally over the past 20 years. I do not normally leave reviews unless the experience is exceptionally great or exceptionally bad. The check-in process was great. The manager on duty, a Black man, was very polite and acknowledged my status. My request prior to my arrival to check-in early was granted as I arrived at 1PM. The manager also gave me a water bottle, because I had traveled across the country on a red-eye 7-hour flight schedule and was exhausted. I was assigned room 810. The next day, as I head to the convention center, I asked the manager on duty (a white male) to have house-keeping service my room while I was away. He acknowledged my request and left a note at this station. When I returned to the hotel a little past 10 PM, I noticed that my room was not serviced. I went to the front desk, and the manager from earlier was working at the time. I informed him that housekeeping did not service my room. He appeared disappointed as he checked his note, and noticed it was in the same location he left earlier. He offered me trash bags and a clean set of towels, which I accepted. As I was preparing to go to bed, I saw a bug crawling on the sheets of one queen bed. I killed that bug, and moved to the other bed, and found a bug crawling on one of the pillows. There was also one crawling on the ceiling, which I killed with my shoe. I informed the front desk in the morning (the manager who checked me in, and a middle eastern female manager) of the bed bugs, and even showed them the dead bugs on paper tissues. At this time, I was sleep deprived as I stayed on the couch the whole night fearing more bed bugs would be crawling on the beds. They moved me to room 816 which appeared cleaner, and I did not see any bed bugs. Immediately upon moving to the new room I headed out to the convention center. The check-in manager left me a message while I was working, stating that he had the pest control at the room and they did not find any bugs, which is suspect. I returned to the hotel after 10PM and went to bed, again with the light on and waking up multiple times to check for bugs, due to paranoia from the earlier room. In the morning as I was packing to check out, I noticed an empty beef jerky wrapper underneath the table, a dead fly on the base of the desk lamp in between the two begs, a dead sting bug on the carpet, and a piece of fruit seed (maybe cantaloupe?). This made me realize that this hotel has a bug problem, and that this room was fumigated at some point due to the presence of dead bugs. I also realized that the housekeeping crew are not doing their job as I should not be finding all this debris if the room was thoroughly cleaned. Since I was not looking for things in the room, who knows what other debris was in the room. When I went to check-out at the front desk, the middle eastern manager was there, and I alerted her that the hotel had a bug problem, since I found dead bugs in the new room, they moved me to. She was trying to rush me to check-out and avoid the conversation since there were other guests present waiting to check-in. I showed her the pictures of the dead bugs on my phone, and while she was looking at the pictures, this Black female, I am assuming she is another manager, pocked her head close to my phone to see the picture. Immediately she started stating that it was not a beg bug, it was a sting bug. She caught the conversation from the tail end and wanted to discredit my complaint about the bug infestation. She continued her vitriol towards me by loudly talking badly about me to another employee, while I was there in the lobby. I understood what she was trying to instigate an alternation. I did not engage and ignored her theatrics. As a business owner, this type of individual can ruin your company. This is the type of employee who was raised in an environment that deals with conflicts through verbal or physical altercations. They are unable to manage challenging situations with hospitality, but instead they manage them with hostility. What management does not realize is that bugs can hitch a ride with you. Management may be used to living in a bug-infested environment; but some of us are not and have no intention of doing so. I do not want to bring home with me unwanted pests that may be difficult to get rid of. If you do not mind living with bugs, you will enjoy this hotel. Otherwise, I would avoid it at all costs since management is trying to hide a grave issue. P.S. If you read this before management, check for my shoe print on the ceiling of room 810, next to the table between the two beds. It should still be there if housekeeping is still lackadaisical.

Excellent Hotel
Everything in the room and rest of hotel was clean. Bed great for sleeping. Room temperature controls and environmental system in room worked well and was quiet. Quiet in the hotel. Good breakfast. Food tasted ok. TV menu easy to figure out. Plenty of car parking.

Great Hotel Good Value
This is a beautiful hotel located high atop a hill in Greentree, right across the river from Pittsburg. Check-in was fast and hassle free, and we were made to feel welcome by the lovely lady working the front desk. Our room on the fifth floor was clean and spacious, the bed and pillows superb, and the bathroom spotless. The complimentary breakfast was well stocked and ample, better than most. The lobby and common areas were clean and tidy, and staff friendly. This is a very fine inn.
