More room for improvement
Door was not completely latched and had roach crawled in. Could have been more or anything else could easily crawled in based on the space or gap when door is completely closed. You could also see ourside even when door was closede and i wondewr if somebody else could also see inside hence invasion of privacy.

Well Cared-for Property
We stayed at the Best Western Padre Island in Corpus Christi after our disastrous stay in Laredo. Its located on Padre Island just after the bridge, but there is no beach. Its a drive-up motel format property. That isn't clear based on the pictures. They have a nice looking pool and plenty of parking. The location next to the bridge exposes it to engine-braking noise from trucks. So pick a room far from the road. The front desk area looking very nice and refurbished. Staff was friendly. There is free breakfast provided in a fairly small area off the lobby. Our room was large. The bathroom somewhat smaller with the sink located outside and a tub/shower with bump-out curtain. Beds were stiff and the pillows small, but comfortable. Everything was very clean. So much so we tipped the staff. From the outside, the property looks dated. But inside its clear that its been refurbished. And they did a good job. TV was large, AC worked very well, lots of hot water in the shower, and everything painted well. We had a fairly comfortable night's sleep, woke, and had the breakfast. It was fine. Not a lot of people there at the time. We had the place to ourselves. Hot breakfast had several options. I had Special K and some sausages and coffee. My wife had waffles and coffee and a bagel. So a very good stay in Corpus Christi

Not the “Best” in our Best western history
Just not worth $230 for one night! Plus overpriced pet fee. The room was clean and the breakfast was good, but the website was misleading that there was some kind of pathway out to the GULF and the property wasn’t very clean, nor was the pool very well kept to swim on a Sunday morning. The front desk staff was awesome and so kind and I believe her name was Holly For the morning shift. She ran the breakfast area and did an outstanding job. As far as the pet policy, it clearly said $30 on the website and we got charged $35 and those little incidentals are frustrating after you just paid $230 for subpar motel experience. The stairwells were filthy. There was no military discount or no reasonable difference in room price for military families And that does make a difference in our future decisions for getting away for a night. Wish there was an outdoor area near the picnic tables with strung up lights that you could sit outside during the evening .

NEW Brown streaks on “CLEAN” Sheets
The sheets were not cleaned from the previous occupancy. There was hair (which I hope was leg hair) all over my sheets as well as two streaks of a brown substance on my sheets. The rest of the room was fairly clean. I understand it’s not necessarily a nice hotel, but clean sheets are something I would expect at any hotel.

Service Animal Issues
For MANY years our family and friends have been guests at this location and we have ALWAYS had a great time! Often writing 5 star reviews and hanging out with staff as we BBQ'd out by the pool (we're people person friendly) As with any place, there were some little things that weren't the "GREATEST" But the staff always did there very best!!! And for that I'm thankful... Sadly our last visit we could not have felt any more LESS welcome. If you have a service animal, be prepared to be told your pet is NOT allowed in dining area. - In the room is fine! - In the lobby is fine! - in the pool area NO... (Understandable) - in the dining area where food is served NO... When I asked if I could just get my food and take it to my room... NO... Not with the dog... Their recommendation was for me to lock her in the room and return to the dining room.. (illegal) I know it's just breakfast... But it's what we look forward to after fishing till 6am.. So.. dinning out on my dime was the option... After that I was approached by another staff member as my S.A. was peeing. I was told to walk her off premise to do her thing. I did... Result... CHIGGERS On me, on my dog... EVERYWHERE! The next morning.. at 11:30am a knock on my door... And we were asked to leave unless we planned on staying... (I booked for 2 nights, not 1) Being disabled we booked 1 of the rooms that have larger doors and roomier bathroom with hand rails. One staff member spoke to another, explaining the room was already booked for another guest. (As she called it... "One of the special rooms) So... Now we're "special" I'm not going to get petty.... Fact is... It all started with my Service Animal.. I did write corporate and they simply verified what I had questioned... " Does this location recognize service animals?" Short answer YES... (As long as they are with you in the car, traveling with you or IN the room. They can be in the front desk area briefly but absolutely NOT in the dining area. If you do not leave your pet with someone you will NOT be aloud to partake in the "Free Continent Breakfast" And Be prepared to be questioned about your S.A. and where he/she does her/his business. North Padre Island B.W. does not have issues with S.A.'s and fortunately there are several other hotel/motel locations around the area. I'm really an easy going guy... But this last visit, I felt, was unfriendly, unwelcoming and over all left me feeling betrayed by the establishment after all the years of being loyal, spreading good words and recommendations and supporting a family owed business. 🥰 🏩.🚌 ←- - - - - 🏨 I guess it was time to find a new place......
