Barcelo San Jose is a lovely property. We stayed as part of our Caravan tour. Our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Morning breakfast buffet was very good with egg/omelet station and plenty of fresh fruit options. We would stay again and recommend this hotel

Highly recommend
Stayed here on 3 separate nights during our travels around Costa Rica. Perfectly placed for the airport and city (uber in to the centre between 1500-4500 crc) Clean, comfortable, reasonably priced and a good breakfast. The free airport shuttle bus was a real bonus and worked well. The car rental desk in the hotel was convenient and hassle free. The staff were great and to cap it all we asked for a late 3pm check out on our last day which was granted with no rip off extra charge.

Enjoy a Costa Rica Get Away
This was a great starting point for our vacation in Costa Rica. They maintain lovely gardens and landscaping for a stroll. They have a beautiful pool with plenty of seating/lounge chairs/hammocks that can either be in the shade or sun. There is a pleasant bar and restaurant by the pool and also a variety of eating and bar options in the hotel. This is a comfortable enjoyable hotel.

I recently stayed at your hotel on March 14th due to a flight cancellation caused by the ATC outage in Central and South America. While some aspects of my stay were positive, I encountered several issues that need to be addressed. 1. Shuttle Service: One of the main reasons I chose your hotel was the advertised airport shuttle. My wife and I attempted to contact the hotel multiple times for pickup, but no one answered. After waiting without success, we had no choice but to take a taxi, which cost us approximately $50. This was frustrating and unexpected. 2. Restaurant Service: That evening, I ordered two pizzas at the hotel restaurant and was told they would take 25-30 minutes. After waiting that long, I was informed it would be another 10-15 minutes. Even after returning to my room, the food was delayed further, totaling well over an hour. Additionally, I was told I couldn’t pick up the food myself due to cameras, which I found unusual given my experience as airline crew. On a positive note, the check-in and check-out process went smoothly, and the front desk staff, bellman, and shuttle driver were all polite and professional. The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. However, the lack of responsiveness with the shuttle service and the excessive wait for food significantly impacted our experience. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and improves service for future guests.

Excellent hotel in San Jose
I stayed at this hotel two nights while in tour with Caravan. Very comfortable bed. Lovely room. Excellent shower. Quick and efficient check in. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast and dinner buffets were average. Would definitely stay there again.
